IT’S A CELEBRATION!!! (or at least it should be)

April 19th 2014.  27 years ago, a 6-year-old Wookiee sat in his living room watching Sunday night entertainment with his family.  As often happened, his grandparents had chosen to watch the Tracy Ullman Show because they liked the comedy.  Little did this young Fuzzball know, but his life was never going to be the same again.

“Good Night, Son”

Three simple words from a yellow cartoon father (first dialogue ever) to his son followed by a great little clip of a Mom and Dad saying good night to their children only to discover that the things they say to us often don’t give us sweet dreams.  The first clip of the Simpsons (Good Night) set the tone for what we’ve come to expect. Loving parents doing the best they can with their three kids. Sure everything doesn’t go perfectly but that’s what life is all about.  As a kid without a Dad… I liked seeing one who cared even if he blundered at it.

As for their sweet good nights… Bed bugs?  What the heck are those and how can I sleep when they might be biting me.  The baby fell out of the treetop?  I know I’m not in a cradle but that’s not bueno Mom.  As for Homer’s quote about mind over matter… priceless.  If you’re wondering what I’m rambling about, it’s all in this little short that resulted in a show that continues to strike a chord with its viewers 27 years later.  I’d love to show you a video but I couldn’t find one that wouldn’t violate copyright.  Trust me when I say you can find it online.

The Simpsons celebrates 27 years today and I for one am stoked.  The “No. 1 Greatest American Sitcom” (according to Entertainment Weekly) and “Best Show of the 20th Century” (according to Time Magazine) has gone on to win a Peabody Award, 28 Emmy Awards, 29 Annie Awards, five Genesis Awards and seven Environmental Media Awards.  It spawned a hit movie, postage stamps, more merchandise than any geek could collect and its own themed land in Florida (as well as one coming in Hollywood).  As a Southern California kid, I also have to point out the show even garnered its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Let’s all take the time to realize that its so cool we all bond over a game having to do with the longest running sitcom in television history (take that Bonanza!). Crack open your beverage of choice and raise a toast to these funny yellow characters.  Here’s to 27 more!

Hope every one has a great weekend and y’all stay classy.  Keep whacking those wabbits and have fun.  TTFN… Wookiee out!

In Defense of the Easter Bunny

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

How are my favorite addicted Tappers doing today?  Busy zapping and tapping those bunnies?  Collecting all the eggs you can get your hands on?  Working your way through the main questline to earn those extra eggs?  Remember, you can find all the great tips and tricks we’ve posted about the event on our Easter Page.

So here we are day 3 of the Easter Event and from what we’ve been seeing in the comments most of you are loving this update!  Of course there are a few negative nellies in the bunch, when isn’t there?  But for the most part, so far, many of you are enjoying this update!

And I say…what’s not to love?  Lots of free prizes to earn, hilarious dialogue, characters we’ve ALL been asking for and FREE donuts!

I’m seriously loving this update and choose to remain positive about the twists and turns that are in store for us during the next 25 days!  In fact I’m enjoying this update so much it’s inspired me to do something I don’t normally do around here….and that’s give my opinion.

So sit back, relax and let me tell you why I choose to enjoy this update…

It Doesn’t Add Up….Or Does It? The Math of TSTO Easter

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

I see that many of you are now starting to unlock the Easter content and are so far loving the event!  What’s not to love?  Hunting wabbits and free stuff!  Oh and did I mention FREE donuts?  Not only are donuts in the questline (check here for the post) but many Tappers are reporting they’re STILL earning donuts from tapping neighbor’s buildings, as long as they’re maxed out on Friend Points (check here for more details on donuts in FP)!  Not a bad way to have an event start off, right?

So now that many of you are starting to unlock the content, and some of you are acquiring your first Easter Box, I see some of you starting to question the math of it all.  As I explained in my odds post with this event you’re guaranteed to unlock all of the items, as long as you’re diligent with your tapping.  And some of you are starting to say…’wait a min!  81 attempts to guarantee it x 500 Eggs = 40,500 Eggs/color!  That’s impossible to do!’

And you know what?  Those of you thinking like that…you’re right.  It is impossible to do in the way you’re thinking.  The problem is…you’re thinking about it all wrong.  You’re taking the literal conversion of exactly how many eggs you get and coming up WAY short.  However, as they say…there’s more than 1 way to skin a cat…er bunny?

Those of you taking the literal conversions into account you’re forgetting an IMPORTANT aspect of this update….games of chance.  Let’s break it all down and I’ll show you how you can earn enough to unlock everything….with out using donuts.  All you need is diligent tapping and patience.  You may not get something until the very last day, but keep your patience and don’t lose your cool!

Turbo Tappin’ Easter 2014

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Well the Easter update is upon us!  Bunnies, bunnies, bunnies…they’re EVERYWHERE!  And we’ve been seeing a TON of comments about “what happens next”, so now that the update is nearing 24hrs old, and for most of you Homer, Willie & Apu will be wrapping up their Whacking Day preparedness shortly, we figured it’s a good time to Turbo Tap Easter!

For those of you who don’t know Turbo Tappin’ is our quick version of a walkthrough for the Level/Update/Character where we give you who starts the quest, the task and what you earn.  This way you have your quick guide on who to keep free and when.  This is great for our fellow Addicts who love to copy and paste the walkthrough into their device for quick reference.

Now on with Easter!  As I mentioned in the initial update post the main quest is kicked off by Homer and the anticipation of Whacking Day.  While the main quest is called Four-Day Weekend For Our Sins, there are some mini quests , entitled something different each time, that pop-up throughout as well.  We’ll cover those here as well.  So let’s get to Turbo Tappin’ shall we?

What Are You: Pink or Blue?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So this morning I want to talk to you about something that’s VERY different with this update, something in your favor!  I want to talk to you about the Easter Boxes!

I know what many of you are thinking…it’s the holiday wheel just in box form!  But guess what?  It’s not!  What if I told you, as long as you play the game and collect eggs you are guaranteed to collect ALL of the prizes, with out spending a single donut on eggs?

Impossible?  Nope.  I’m telling you EA listened to YOU (to ALL of us) with this update!  They heard your complaints during the wheel events about the odds, and they did something about it!

Let’s take a look at how the odds  come into play with these new prize boxes….

Wookiee Randomness: I’d TAP that

What’s up Addicts?  What’s the haps on the craps?

Is that saying even cool any more?  Where are all my old school rap fans at? West coast is the best coast, right?  Somehow I think I dated myself just now but it’s ok.  I’ve never been the guy who was cool/hip/fly/dope/etc.  I’ve always been more of a Lewis Skolnick than a Zack Morris.  Before you start the Screech jokes, know I did identify with that character but as I’ve met him in real life and wish I hadn’t, I would never compare myself to him plus I’m much more street smart.  If you gotta pick a nerd, pick a good one and Lewis is that.

Hey Addicts, Caption This!

Sometimes TSTO gives us humorous little moments when we capture our characters doing rather strange things.  These posts are all about those strange and funny moments! Twice a week we’ll be posting a Caption This! moment where we want you, the Addicts readers, to put on your writing caps and come up with what you think is happening in the screenshot. Post your captions in the comments below. We can’t wait to see how creative and funny you guys can be!

Hey Addicts… Caption This!
(This week’s Caption This image was submitted by Addicts reader Jack E)

If you’ve got an image you’d like to submit for a “Caption this!” post, email it to us at or post it on the Addicts Flickr page, you never know when yours might be next!

Mad Men of Springfield: Snake

Welcome to another new addition to Addicts, the Mad Men of Springfield. We will be going into depth on the history and background of the male species running around our lil towns as well as those not yet in the game.

Just think about it. What Man living in Springfield is “normal”? Not a single one that I can think of. They all have at least ONE thing wrong with them. Seriously! Think about it. How many issues does Moe have? A Reverend a “little” obsessed with trains? An owner of a Kwik-E-Mart that goes to counseling with the same person that robs him, on a daily basis? Not to mention the “inbreeding” and other strange happenings going on at the farm. Oh the idiosyncrasies.

So sit back, relax, grab your favorite beverage, and enjoy as we kram your brains with some Simpson knowledge of the MAD MEN OF SPRINGFIELD.
