Tapped Out Walkthrough: Level 30

Marge gets things started in Level 30
Military Antiques Pt. 1
After tapping Marge

Marge:  Lisa, I would never criticize your town-building skills, but I’ve been to all these stories a zillion times. A shopper needs variety!
Lisa: Well, I was thinking we could rebuild Herman’s shop. But I don’t think you’d shop there. It sells military antiques.
Marge: A store’s a store. Build it! Build it now!

After tapping Marge

Marge: At last, a new store! Herman, I’d like some military antiques please.  : I’ll take a box of musket balls, three “potato masher” grenades, and a dozen bazookas.
Herman: I didn’t realize you were such a fan of antique firearms.
Marge: Oh, I’m not. I just need to bring something to the register, and you have to charge me for it. You know – shopping!

After tapping Herman

Herman: Hey, old man! Want to buy a gun? There’s no better way to protect yourself. After all, it’s scary getting old, isn’t it?
Grampa: You have no idea. My vision’s gone, I’m always forgettin’ who I am, I panic in stressful situations…my trigger finger aches something terrible, my aim isn’t what it used to be, I often mistake loved ones for dangerous intruders, I forget whether things are loaded… and above all my time on Earth is short, and I’d love to take a few people with me when I go.
Herman: You’re the perfect gun owner! Step inside!

Milhouse: Of course! After all, the NRA says it’s the safest place for kids.
Bart: They also say us kids should sleep under a blanket of loaded guns. You know – for safety.
Milhouse: I eat my cereal every morning with a gun instead of a spoon. Because more guns everywhere means safer kids. Thanks, NRA!

Fat Tony: Herman, I’ve grown tired of my gang’s “look.” Black suits, pistols and shoulder holsters — it’s so 1989. We need a fresh take on the mob thing.  Do you have any weapons that will create more “wow” factor for my associates?
Herman: A good blunderbuss. Of course, it only shoots one bullet every 30 seconds.
Fat Tony: A small price to pay for fashion. I’ll take a hundred.

Wiggum: I’d like to purchase this AK-47, please. Will you need to run a background check on me?
Herman: Of course not. That would infringe on your Constitutional right to never be inconvenienced – even in the tiniest, most reasonable way – when guns are involved. It’s all part of the “Gun Buyers Are To Be Hailed As Our Worthiest Heroes” Act of 2013… sponsored by the NRA.
Chief Wiggum: Great! The ready availability of guns to the public makes my job as a cop safer AND easier.

Apu: We don’t stock guns, you overweight imbecile.
Chief Wiggum: You do realize that it’s now illegal to operate a store that doesn’t sell firearms? It’s all part of the “How Else may We Serve, Oh Wise and Powerful NRA?” Act of 2013. You’re going to jail!

Marge: Why are all of Springfield’s stores shutting down! There’s nowhere to shop!
Wiggum: Sorry Marge, that’s the law. I have to defend the people’s right to buy guns whenever the whim strikes them.
Marge: What about MY Constitutional rights to a decent downtown, fun window shopping, and jeans at a variety of price points?
Wiggum: Those aren’t rights! Or are they? Who can say! That’s the funny thing about the law — you never have the slightest clue what it is.
Marge: Well, I’m taking my message to the people!

Herman: That’s affirmative. It’s time we took our government back.
Marge: That’s what democracy is all about, right?
Herman: Right. Now let’s mount an armed frontal assault on City Hall. Democracy-style.
Marge: Uh… come again?

Herman: The battle plans are ready, Marge. You say the word, and we take back City Hall!
Marge: Geez, I’m reading over these plans, and there’s an awful lot of shooting and yelling and reconnoitering. It all sounds very violent.
Herman: To the lay person, it probably does. But when you’re staging a blood-drenched coup, violence really helps keep up morale.
Herman: It’s something the whole battalion can have fun doing together.
Marge: Why not lose a pincer movement or two, and let’s see if we can overthrow the state without all the fisticuffs?

Herman: The new battle plans are drawn. If all goes according to plan, not a single shot will be fired. But be warned: there WILL be mild swearing, intermittent sneaking around, and a post-operation cleanup where everybody — and I mean EVERYBODY — pitches in, leaving City Hall just as tidy as they found it.  If that sounds like more than you can stomach, best stay home, soldier!
Marge: Much better. Let’s prepare for “battle!”

Marge: Wipe your feet on the mat before entering! Pause to admire the mural in the lobby — it’s from the 1920s!  And remember to be nice to the receptionists! They have a hard job!
Herman: We’re doing it, Marge! We’re taking back our government.

Marge: We’re not going to put up with limited shopping options, crazy pro-gun laws, a mob armed with blunderbusses, thinly-premised Wolfcastle films, and… and…what exactly ARE we trying to accomplish?
Herman: Honestly, I’ve forgotten.
Marge: I guess this whole story didn’t make much sense. You know, we never thought anyone would play long enough to get to level 30.
Homer: Guys, maybe this is a good thing. A real wake up call for everyone involved with this game. I mean, come on. Herman? THAT’S the best character we have to add? No offence, Herm.
Herman: Even I know it’s true.
Homer: Let’s get back to the drawing board, and get to work on a level 31 that’ll really knock everyone’s socks off!
Wiggum: Sorry about level 30, guys. If you promise not to gripe to EA too much, everybody can have three donuts.

  1. Herman pt 6 is set at -8/1 for me! I do not think it is supposed to be carried out for 9 times, because on multiple tasks it says 0/9 at start. Anyone who knows about it? Kent brockman even startend at -17!

  2. I’m at part 6 and something strange is happening… It says -8/1 (in now at -6). Kent brockman startend even at -18/1! Im not sure but i don’t think this is intended, because multiple task usually say 0/18 instead of negatieve Numbers…. Does anybody know?

I only noticed that I was stuck in this walkthrough because my training dummy quest is locked. I basically rocketed from level low-20s to like, 36 during the Terwillingers event, so I had about 35 quests piled up by the end of it. I have no idea where my quest got “stuck”, and Herman isn’t in my task bar. I just know that I got stuck somewhere before the training dummy.
Should I try just storing Herman? I don’t know how else to figure out where things went wrong.

    • My best suggestion is look at the Titles of each of the tasks still open in your task menu, then line them up with the names in the Walkthrough section. It may help you to narrow down where you are in the dialog and questlines.

      • junkfoodbetty

It looks like I had the training dummy in my inventory the whole time, I just never placed it. *sheepish grin* However, once I DID place it, it didn’t trigger any dialogue. So I had him go work the dummy for an hour, and no dialogue was triggered after that. So I’m not sure if that means I completed his quest or not, but…well, there it is I guess!

And it gets weirder…when I hit the prompt for level 37 (which Marge starts) she spit out the Customers Pt. 1 dialogue…and then nothing. No task prompts. And I already have the training dummy out. Then she went on to say the level 37 dialogue. So strange! I guess I may never technically finish level 30!

  4. I see some have had trouble triggering this quest in general, but has anyone had problems with just parts of it? Marge did her part, but Grampa’s task is not triggering.

    • Do you have both Grampa and Herman free in your game?

      • I do, yes. But looking back on level 29, I did not do the part with Agnes dating Comic Book Guy. Maybe that is the problem? Now I gotta figure out why THAT did not trigger 😛

It took me a while (and finding this site) to realize there is a storyline. I have jumped all over the place it seems.

        • Comic Book Guy got married to Kumiko, so when she came to the game that task switched to him just helping her cross the road even though they did date in the TV series.

It could just be another trigger aspect changed in the game. Try to get ALL the Characters listed for the level free, so who triggers what. Also go through your task menu and see the names of the tasks still open in there and match it to the walkthroughs to see if there is something else holding up the progress.

      • Yeah, gonna go through the full walkthrough you have up. I must be missing something else. I was racing through and mixing in premium characters too, so I’m sure I skipped something. Thanks!

      • Problem solved! I am level 39 but on the walkthrough just level 28. Time to catch up. Thanks again 😀

  5. I am having the same issue. The tasks don’t show up on my list and it has there seems to be a large gap between quests. For instance, it let Marge shop but it was a while before grandpa could shop. I am still working on Skinner and Agnes but I am close to completing. Fat Tony is done. What gives?

    • You just got to try to stick to the storyline as much as you can. If you start a separate one, it can cause conflicts.

      • forgot to thank you, Bunny! I am trying to wait before starting new quests. I did not realize their were two types of levels. Love this site and your posts. Thanks for your time and efforts. :0)

      • Sorry if this is repetitive…

I just wanted to thank you for your assistance. I did not realize that we had two types of levels. Love this site! Thank you and your team for assistance.

On an alternate topic, I can’t seem to add a comment to add a non-graffiti friend. I blasted a few people who seemed to have a pattern of defacing my buildings on the regular. It wasn’t threatening, just a callout.
I saw the latest post and wondered, is that why I can’t post my name to the add a friend requests? Can I get it reversed. I am starting to get that many play on an hone and I did not call names or threaten.

        • We are always happy to help all we can.

Just keep in mind that we don’t allow abuse to anyone here. It may not seem harsh to you, but others can be quite hurt. Especially if they did make an honest mistake just to see they were singled out and harsh words said towards their character. Think of it as a kid surrounded by a group of kids and being pointed at. We prefer that you just state the tag, delete them if you feel necessary, and move on. It was getting WAY to cruel by many comments and emails were rolling in of really upset people that were hurt by the accusations on honest mistakes. Many even pointed out their mistake and apology they commented, but it was overlooked. So…we are stepping in and keeping and eye on it. I am sure you understand.

Outside that, we also put out NEW threads every so often as the other fill up. It is easier for a player to look through 500 vs 5000 comments. So as soon as a new thread is created, the old is disabled so no more will go there.

So two things going on. Abusive comments will be kicked out. Closed comments on older posts. One or the other may impact you.

  6. I can’t seem to get this to trigger. Are there prerequisites to it other than lvl 30?

    • You have to complete the build for Level 29. What was the last building/character you built/unlocked?

      • I hadn’t completed Skinner’s House and once I did, that triggered it. I wasn’t required to build Fat Tony’s Compound, Springfield General Hospital, the Post Office, Pimento Grove, or El Chemistri. Apparently just the first of the unlocked items moves you on.

I didn’t have a chance to reply right away, but thank you for leading me in the right direction.
