“Oh Good Glayven!”

Hello Addicts!!! 🙂

My Name is Bunny, you may remember me from such 2D pics as Troy McClure, Itchy & Scratchy, and many more to come. I was given the opportunity to share some of my geek habits with you. I have been a tomboy most of my life. My first geek obsession was Star Wars (I have too many collectibles to name). As a young kid, I stumbled across the Simpsons in their rarest form and fell in love. It still makes me giggle to think they are still up and running all these years. 🙂

I started my addiction to TSTO around Whacking Day (downloaded in March, but rarely played, sad huh?). I was thrown into a world of eggs n snakes, snakes n eggs, and even more eggs n snakes. Thanks to locating some cool people on another blog, I was able to acquire many friends and get all the prizes. This also catapulted me from simple level 10ish to over 20. I was having a blast. After WD was gone, I missed having neighbors “doodle” with the eggs in my town. (I would write my name in theirs). I made the decision at that time to start my own “doodling”. A monster was thusly created. I started small and simple. Became addictive QUICKLY…and I am rambling…again… “Please stay in character, gentle wench.”

On to the reason I am here. I wanted to let you take a peak into my mind (scary thought huh?) and see what I go through to make one of my 2D designs. Being a geek at heart, how better to start off than with Professor Frink. WAIT! DON’T GO! It was my rambling that bored you huh? “Oh, no, please no. I have a funny story if you listen. I even wrote theme music, here listen…
Ha ha, mm-m hey hey,
Professor Frink, Professor Frink,
He’ll make you laugh, he’ll make you think,
He likes to run, and then the thing,
with the… mm-m person…”

I got the inspiration for this photo from a fellow tapping friend, DrewDabble. His little comments cracked me up, not to mention he had Frink as his lil icon. So I decided to make a Frink in honor of him. 🙂

Prepare ahead: You will need decorations/garbage to make a 2D picture, so make sure you have some stored up or the $$$ saved to purchase them. (I use the small shrubs a lot as they are only $25). You will need space in your town to place the image. Last but not least, you need to make sure you have time AND a fully charged phone. This game is not kind on batteries at all. 🙂

I have been having so much fun making 2D, I actually created a “painters palette & canvas” for it in my town. (Notice I keep the garbage close, making it easier to find items I need, and a few of the other decorations above for color/size reference.) “No you can’t play with it, you won’t enjoy it on as many levels as I do… Mm-hai bw-ha whoa-hoa. The colours children. Mwa-ha-lee.”

Getting Started

Decorations: For this particular design I will be using small shrubs, snapdragons (I call them lilacs cuz that’s what they look like), trash cans, garbage bins, fence (boardwalk), blue/green shrub, and the green goo & propane tanks from my garbage collection. Side note: it makes it a LOT easier to place these items if you have quite a few of them in your inventory already. Now by no means whatsoever does YOUR inventory need to look like this, I AM an Addict. 😛 “Oh no… No no, I felt that. You didn’t carry the one you foolish person. Now you’ll incur the penalties with the compound interest and the wrath and the truncheons.”

Step One: Find a picture/image of the item I want to place into my town. I found one that I liked to use as inspiration.

Step Two: Find a good starting point on the item and place it into your town. (This helps you determine if the space around is going to be enough. It is NOT fun to have to relocate a design once in place, this I learned hard way). I usually start with the eyes or nose and work my way around the face from there. This is where the placement can change. (I switched him the other way)

Step Three: Add additional features like glasses, hair, teeth. (YES! I am freehanding this. “You should all do what I say. My I.Q. is 199 for crying out flayven.”)

Frink 1

Step Four: Add clothing, bow tie (cuz bow ties are cool), and accessories. (Notice I changed his glasses from all snapdragons to a mix w/trash cans. Looked better IMO “Well, it should be obvious to even the most dim-witted individual who holds an advanced degree in hyperbolic topology, ng-bwui”).

Step Five: Add the small details like a belt and a hint of his pink pants…they make me giggle 🙂

Frink Details

Now I take the time to go over the entire photo. I make any last minute tweaks I think are needed to add to the image/make it look better. Then I decide if the green or the pavement will make a better background (I liked the pavement background, but put both for demonstration)…and with that…HERE IS PROFESSOR FRINK!! “SWEET GLAYVEN! Right, step away foolish amateurs, just keep back, keep out of it. The role is mine with the acting and the groupies and the “Luke, Luke, save me” with the lightsabre and the vwing, vwing, vwing”

So there it is. A generic breakdown of my MADNESS!!!…err…I mean process of making a 2D creation. “This forms a three-dimensional object known as a “cube”, or a “Frinkahedron” in honor of its discoverer, ngu-hey, ng-hey.”

I have MANY more on the horizon I have made/am making. Saving my tickets to venture into Krustyland too. “Man! If this is happening here, I’d hate to think what’s happening at Euro Itchy and Scratchy Land. Mm-hey.”

Now go forth, create, have fun, GET ADDICTED (to tsto of course, what did you think I meant?)
“…and these should give you the grounding you’ll need in thermodynamics, hypermathematics, and of course microcalifragalistics.”

Until the next episode…
