I WANT A BABY!

So this post is a mix of both my 2D art and also what I would like to see in a future game update. It goes more to a character I am kinda disappointed in within my TSTO game. Maggie Simpson, though silent, is such a strong character in all the episodes. I had thought they would’ve done SOOOO much more with her than have her only out when Marge walks around with her. The tasks she could do could be hilarious. Like not letting Burns take her candy, trying to “walk” around Springfield (but she keeps falling down), trying to “pet the dogs” at the Springfield Downs, even a Daycare can be tossed in for a new building to go with her. There she could have fights with other babies (similar to her movie “The Longest Daycare”). She could even ride Santa’s Lil Helper like a horse around town. Possibilities are endless. Not to mention she is ADORABLE.

Back to my post. my friend Em Cha brought her up again the other day in the TSTO social site www.tapped-out.co.uk, saying she would like to see her in the game as well as in a 2D (along with a few others, one of which I will be working on soon too). As this lil cutie has been on my mind for quite some time, I took the task to finally put her in one of my 2D art pieces.

I remembered a scene of her holding a poor lil worn down Bear (Bobo). It was such a cute image, I couldn’t help but use it for inspiration in my design. (Other ones I was dwelling on were her sleeping, holding the gun at Burns, and holding her arms out to be picked up).

Maggie & Bobo

How can anyone say no to that lil cutie??! 🙂

On to my design. Let’s start off with the usual break down of items I will use for this one: Snapdragons, newspaper dispensers, garbage bins, trash cans, small shrub, lawn chair, small flower patch, and green & blue shrub. (For Bobo’s eyes, I originally accented it with a propane tank, in the final pic I had switched it out to a broken window for the accent).

Started with her nose and eyes. Side note: a little time ago I let a friend play my game. They cleaned up a LOT of my garbage before I realized what they were doing (they had tried once and got a doughnut, so kept going), because of this I am unable to fill in a lot of the designs, like Maggie’s eyes, as I would like to.

Next I went on to her hair. As you may pick up in the pics, this changed MANY times and I continue to tweak it even while making this post. LOL. No worries, just my madness of trying to make my designs look right. Not to mention the angle of TSTO makes the points of her hair look off.

After I completed the hair, I started to place her bow and binky (pacifier). I noticed that the top of her head looked too squished, so I moved her eyes, nose, and ears down a bit until I felt there was enough spacing for the hair up top.

Next up was her clothing and Bobo. Working with the lawn chairs was a new challenge for me. I had to figure out what angles looked best for her arms vs the rest of the outfit. I also had to determine how to cover the space needed with as little as possible of them. (At $520 each, they can get spendy). I also tweaked the placement of Bobo’s eyes, nose, and ears until they looked right. I changed his eyes to snapdragons to make them look darker. I also added a few small shrubs to give the appearance of her hand holding him. (I really wish we had a yellow item to use).

I put in a few final touches and put it all together to see what it looked like overall.

Still not quite happy with the outcome, I tweaked the picture more. Adding Bobo’s arm, rearranging her outfit, adding more color to her binky to make it stand out, and then giving her eyelashes. This is what I ended up with. Sooooooooooo cute. 🙂

And this is more of a close up on Maggie & Bobo. Everybody with me in unison now, “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.”

Maggie Complete

I like that this picture is essentially my landing screen for now (until I add more land). This means she is the first thing my TSTO neighbor’s see when they enter my town. (I put my palette there for this purpose).

I hope EA really does check in on our blogs now and then and sees what they missed out on with not fully utilizing such an AMAZINGLY adorable and fun character in the game. Not to mention…SHE IS A SIMPSON. 🙂

UPDATE: Because no baby is complete without a Mommy…here they are together. 🙂

  1. Can’t believe it took so long! 😛

  2. It came true. Power of positive thinking!

  3. Man they have got to give us Maggie
    Surely here’s to hoping

  4. Jesus Christ that’s impressive. Keep up the good work!

  5. That’s great. I could never do that with my inability to draw stick figures. And looking at Marge’s hair, so many dumpsters.

Also if you want to add me, my username is Miggs2996.

  6. Will the stonecutter daycare work? Maybe after the current event is done, there will be some options for Maggie to visit there!

    • The 2 hour task will stay. Maggie is just wishful thinking for all of us until EA hooks us up.

    • I really would love for Maggie to come into the game as a fully functional character. The daycare would be a great place for her to play while Daddy “talks with the guys over cups of frothy cold stuff”. Lol

In the meantime, the Stonecutters will be busy running it for their 2 hours. 😉

  10. I simply LOVE this! 😀 I just put out suggestions of 2D art and the response was beyond anything I could imagen! My 2D creating talent is zero so I enjoy seeing the Art of others, often awed into silence. This is so much fun! Yey!

  11. More great TSTO 2D ‘L-B’ 🙂

Lol ~ Poor Marge, her digital legs must be about worn-out by now – because every other time I task her, it’s to walk Maggie (so cute).

Please EA, give Marge a break… Maggie really needs to be her own separate character with a full set of tasks.

  12. All these 2d designs are so cool
