So a few days ago, EA brought back Gil and his Black Friday deal. A great bargain for those wanting the Springfield sign, the Duff Brewery (with Duffman), and $50,000 in game cash.
Unfortunately, I am also seeing now that more and more players are attempting to get the offer but it seems to have just disappeared into thin air. No rhyme or reason as to why.
I know for some, if you already own one of the two items listed, the offer will not appear, but that doesn’t seem to be the issue. What SHOULD happen is Gil would have appeared in your town begging you to click on him. He then offered the deal.
If you “refused”, he then moved into your premium items area (Homer Buddha) and started the countdown for the expiration of the offer (he is still in mine so far).
I have suggested to try the usual troubleshooting methods to see if it will bring him back. (These can be used for any issue/glitch in the game.)
1: The “Trigger”. Go in and out of neighbors towns forcing the game to “sync”. Then go to YOUR Krustyland and into the menus. Then back to YOUR Springfield and the menus. This will usually “trigger” the game into syncing up all those missing issues and putting the game back to the way it needs to be.
2: Log out of the game, restart your device, then log back in after it powers up. Check to see if issue resolved.
3: (This is the one EA usually tells you to do.) Uninstall the app from your device. Clear out all the cache and cookies to make sure nothing remains of the game. Then restart your device. Once back up, reinstall the app again. Log into your account. Check to see if issue is resolved.
Beyond that, depending on issue, the next step I suggest is to contact EA. This is for two main reasons. First, they are alerted to the ongoing issue and the more complaints the more attention is brought to it and hopefully the sooner it is resolved. Second, if it is effecting YOU greatly…they offer great gifts in return…like donuts for compensation.
Now there are a few methods in contacting EA. You can open a ticket by submitting the details of your issue, email, live chat, or…even call them. I posted all the details and steps for this in a post from Halloween when Homer and Lisa went missing.
I know this is very frustrating, can be down right annoying, but hang in there. I am also in contact with EA on your behalf. Trying all I can to see if they will either extend the offer or fix it in time for all to still be able to use it. The game is very intricate in its coding and some issue do take time to resolve. I wish I could say it was a simple quick fix. I really strongly suggest ANYONE having this issue to contact EA right away. Lets flood them with it, maybe that will help them in pushing to extend it or come up with another option. (There are complaints in the EA forums too.)
