New Year… New things a Wookiee Wants

How’s everyone’s 2014 shaping up?

No real complaints worth mentioning on my end.  I did get up to some shenanigans today which I think might turn in to a post or two pretty soon so that’s always a bonus.  During our latest mini-quest on New Year’s Day, I couldn’t help but notice  this little bit of dialogue from Homer after completing his 24 hour to “Back Off EA”.

“But there better be some awesome stuff planned for 2014.  Like the Monorail, and the Stonecutters, and a proper version of Sideshow Bob…”

“… and those ideas are just a few of the great ideas I found on the internet!”

Too funny that his other tasks included the forums (did you know we have our own forum here?) as well as some other troll-ish behavior.  Is EA making fun of us?  Maybe, but in the same way the Simpson’s writers make fun of everything. If they pick something to lampoon, that means it matters to them and I take that as a big win for TSTO fans.

We all know eventually our snow will have to melt in our towns, so when that update comes, if it’s not the Valentine’s Day Event, just what will be in store for us.  Rumored judges and courthouses?  Hal Roach Apartments?  Only melted snowmen and beautiful greenery?

Snow Melting

I am personally hoping the tease about those 3 items is EA hinting at future updates.  Even if it’s not, it is proof they’ve seen tappers mention Stonecutters, the Monorail and a playable Sideshow Bob on sites just like this.  Heck, on 30 Dec 2013, reader KD109, mentioned Springfield’s secret society.  I know long before I ever typed a word on a blog, I’ve been jonesing for Lyle Lanley and his monorail. Apparently, reader Mark K. feels the same way because he mentioned it on 2 Jan 2014.

During our last WAWW, I mentioned that here at Addicts, we really want to know What Addicts Want rather than just my occasional rambles.  Please use our Tapaholic Requesterinos to EA page to put your wishes down in time immemorial.  Ok, maybe not that long but you get the idea.  We also are working on officially adding it to the forum page like my lazy butt mentioned prior to the Holiday Update.  My fault, bad Wookiee, I’ll get on it.

Anywho, this wouldn’t be a WAWW if I didn’t at least throw out a couple things I really want.  First off, my #1 item besides the Monorail would be KBBL Radio.

I’ve mentioned it in other posts.  It just seems like the iconic building that is just as much a part of Springfield as the sign and tire fire.  Could come with a Stampy quest or maybe just be like Channel 6 and play songs we love from the show.  I’ll always think of Monster Mash and Valentine’s Day when I see this building.         (Hint hint EA, you notice how I mentioned VD and this building?)

Next up, my brother from another mother CBG really needs a place to put his growing collection of assorted knickknacks.  Let’s bring his apartment building into the mix, eh?  The Springfield Arms just seems like a good fit.

Springfield Arms

This would fit in with the other apartments we already have.  Speaking of buildings that would fit in with others, we have Channel 6 and Krustylu Studios, let’s complete the set with Itchy & Scratchy Studios.  I think this would be a beautiful addition to anyone’s entertainment district and could come with either Roger Myers, Jr. or Chester J. Lampwick or both.

I’ve said before that one of my favorite parts of this blogging gig is having an excellent excuse to watch and re-watch Simpsons episodes.  Items I’ve seen recently that peaked my interest included where Marge goes for alcoholism rehab.  Quitters: A Place for Rehab.  Seems like the perfect place for Addicts like us as long as Andy Dick stays out.

Another is One Night Stan’s.  I loved this night club which comes from “3 Gays of the Condo (S14:E17)”. I think this would go great next to Disco Stu’s.  I mainly just love the name.  Sight gags in the show have always been one of my favorite things,  This next building is another one of them.  I don’t necessarily have to have it but I think it’s funny and wanted to share.  The Perm Bank doesn’t sound like a salon, but it is.

Ok, maybe I’m enjoying myself a bit too much.  The other thing I’d really like to see is some more billboards to be added to the game.  There are a ton that could be shown so I just decided to show off two from “Lisa Goes Gaga (S23:E22)”.

Springfield Billboards

This last item comes from one of the newest episodes, “YOLO (S25:E4)”.  I get that the aspirational buildings are big and hard to place but I so want the giant skyscraper Homer colides into added to the skyline in my town.  Probably never happen, but a Wookiee can dream, right?

Well, that’s enough from me.  What do you want?  Please drop a comment below or even better an image.  While I was in Springfield today in Universal Studios Hollywood, I did ask Lisa Simpson what she would like added to the game, but unlike us, she was no help at all.

  1. Burlesque House – my Springfield could use a little “spring” 😉

  2. I think they shoul add a shelbyville expansion like krusty land I think it would add allot more characters and awsome quests/quest lines

  3. The radio station and any rundown shops as my downtown looks to much like uptown.

I bought the volcano, iiam weak and shallow but it is big n pink with cool graphics….

  4. All fantastic ideas… I particularly support the additions of KBBL, Springfield U., and the monorail. (In-game expansions for Ogdenville and North Haverbrook are totally not necessary.)

But I’m still hoping for more real-life celebrity characters (Johnny Carson, Tom Hanks, Stephen Hawking, Zooey Deschanel, Alec Baldwin, etc.)… and I loved Wookie’s suggestion of adding amphitheater shows for them. Perhaps Steve Guttenberg and Patrick Stewart could show up in their Stonecutter regalia? Or Leonard Nimoy could loiter on the monorail platform? (Add “Bitey” animation when the monorail is in use?)

At the very least, some of Krusty’s old sidekicks could be added to Krustyland! Corporal Punishment, Sideshow Raheem (“so very angry”), and especially Sideshow Luke Perry (who would combine BOTH of my character wishes in one) would be awesome! These guys could be used to add some REAL amusement to Krustyland… they should all have tasks there.

I really do miss Phil Hartman… I still wish Troy McClure, Lionel Hutz, or Lyle Lanley were back around in Springfield.

  5. How about Radioactive Man and Fall-Out Boy ???????

  6. The radiostation, Bill and whoever and Stampy!!! After Jessica Lovejoy, of course 🙂 and I want that Big Potty! Love to see Julio too. Oooh, and the Republican HQ.

    • I WANNA POTTY!!!

      (that sounds to funny)

    • I so want whoever lol. Jessica and her Mom would be great additions and the others too. Maybe GOP HQ in the same update as Stonecutters? The big potty is definitely a spoiler that never happened which saddens me. It’d be perfect right next to the Pet Shop where all there animals are flushable.

  7. I think the dialogue on NYD was excellent as well and must mean monorail, SSB and Stonecutters are on their way.

Spiderpig would be great but I would like to see Ned’s left handed store ( I know it was in the mall but ….) And I would like to see different coloured land apart from green concrete and snow colored. Sand and brown wouldbe good for starters.

    Oh and more cars 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

  8. How about Lurline the country singer that a Homer managed? We need another female character!

  9. Lisa Upperman-Barr

I would love to see more land opened up! I’ve used up all my space and will have to start deleting and replacing when new items come out.

  10. This is all good but I sure hope we get more land. my town is very cramped and I hate to have to scale back on landscaping every time I need to place a building.

  11. I agree with Lisa, a pony would be a great addition! A whole stable of them (with tasks for Lisa to take riding lessons and SQT to muck out stalls and Fat Tony to stud out his prize stallion) would be even better. That suggestion reminded me of two things I’ve wished for numerous times: the ability to pick up animals & characters and the ability to “pen” characters in a particular area. For example, after Halloween, I really don’t want zombies wandering all over town, but I’d take them out of storage if I could confine them to one of the islands next to my power plant…

  12. Thanks for another great post Wookiee! I think everything you mentioned should be brought into the game – but I would like to see Bleeding Gums Murphy in the game, I know he officially passed away, but he had quite a presence in the early seasons of the show, had an appearance in the movie, and the Jazz Hole would be a great addition. (I may have missed it, I’m fairly new to TSTO) – They’ve brought back other deceased – Like Abe Lincoln and Maude (as a ghost)

I would LOVE Troy McClure, but I do respect how they removed him from the show when Phil Hartman passed (RIP)

How about Spider Pig? DJ Bill From KBBL? Lisa’s Teacher Ms. Hoover?
Also thinking of Springfield University – When Homer went back to college.

    Just my 2 cents.
