The Real Housewives Of Springfield: Edna Krabappel Flanders

Welcome Addicts to a new addition to our posts. In this little game of ours, we tend to forget those characters that are few and far between. We get so involved in the game, so into the latest events…that we sometimes forget to pay attention to the little things. The little details that make the Springfield world go around. The thing that seems to be really lacking/missing from Springfield.

What exactly is it I am going on about? What is so terribly important to the game that would draw such attention. WOMEN OF COURSE! To be a bit more specific, The Real Housewives of Springfield (and maybe a mistress or 3. Gotta have the drama aspect in any series, right?).

So keep your eyes on our blog as we take you on a new journey into the lives of each of the women currently and NOT currently available in the game.

First up, Edna Krabappel (crah-bopple) Flanders. A strong willed, strong personality, take charge kinda woman. She knows who and what she wants and isn’t afraid to jump head first in and take a hold of it.

Edna 7

With a strong personality, also comes those hidden weaknesses. If you hold it in for too long, that breaking point will eventually hit and sadly a devastating meltdown usually follows. (Just like on TV.) She was voiced by a woman that was the perfect fit, Marcia Wallace. A strong woman in her own sense. So talented. Would tackle any job placed in front of her with grace, beauty, and pure awe. She even laughed in the face of Breast Cancer as she fought it off and strived to bring attention and support to others with it.

So without further ado, let us begin with the first time Edna appears in the TV series itself. Season 1, Episode 2 : Bart the GeniusShe was immediately seared into our minds as a chain smoking, drinking, on edge, and dare I say…desperate woman. She was NOT going to let anyone tell her what to do or how to behave. Especially Bart Simpson. I loved her.

In Season 3, Episode 16: Bart the Lover, we are introduced to the inner side of Edna. The lover, the lonely woman, the woman with a broken heart. After placing an ad “SAVE ME”, Bart plays a practical joke on Edna by responding with the “perfect man” to fit all she was looking for and more.

Edna 5

Bart uses an old Love Letter (postcard) between his parents to woo her into falling in love with his alter ego “Woodrow”. A date is arranged for the two to meet at the Gilded Truffle. Bart is so excited to see just how far he got her on his prank.

Edna 8

Bart instead is given a rude awakening as he sees the distraught and broken hearted Edna crumble to tears. Feeling guilty, he attempts to cheer her up. In the end he writes a letter from “Woodrow” explaining he had to go, but will never forget her.

Edna 9

There are hints that Edna is an original citizen of Springfield that may have just moved away. (She is seen in her youth during Season 18, Episode 13: Springfield Up.) It is said she was previously married and loved to teach. But years did wear on her (I wonder what the 25 now are doing), her husband left her (with their marriage counselor), and she ended moving back to teach 4th grade.

Edna 10

Edna hops around town more than the Bunny hops around here at Addicts. Lol. We are given an “idea” of just how many men Edna has dated over the period of the series in Season 22, Episode 22: The Ned-liest Catch, (this is also where her and Ned first fell in love). Edna has had enough of Bart and strikes him, twice. She is sent to a form of teacher detention at the Teacher Holding Facility. While attempting to escape, she falls off the ladder and into the arms of Ned.

As their romance blossoms, Homer tries to put a stop to it…by reminding him just how many people she has been with. To give you an idea, here is a lil list of those that have shared a moment with Edna…

Edna 16

Edna hops around between men, but eventually settled down with (of all the people she could of had…) Ned Flanders. Well, they do say opposites attract. In Season 23, Episode 21: Ned ‘N Edna’s Blend, during a scene of the Passion Play, the cross that Homer is on breaks and falls on top of Flanders. As he is being taken in an ambulance, Edna rushes to his side. The EMT exclaimed, “…family only”…the town is shocked to find out that Edna and Ned are married.

As for our lil game. Edna was brought to us courtesy of Level 22, Of course she came with her apartment complex. (The walkthrough can be seen here.)

Edna 2

I was very excited to FINALLY unlock her in the game. Sadly she was not voiced, and now probably will never be. 🙁 I would have loved to hear that, “HA!”

She has a few permanent tasks in the game…
Smoke Break – 10mins – $17 / 6XP – OUTSIDE TASK (when ISN’T she smoking?)

Edna Krabappel has been in the Simpsons TV series since its beginnings. There are so many great moments, it would be impossible to show them all. Do you have a favorite moment? Lover? How about the game, what is YOUR favorite task?

Until the next episode of “The Real Housewives of Springfield”.

Edna Marcia Tribute

Very sadly, the real world stepped in… On October 25,2013, Marcia Wallace, the voice and AMAZING talent behind Edna journeyed out of our lives forever as she was overcome with complications from pneumonia, while she was lovingly surrounded by her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. Especially a fluffy Addict that adored her.

  1. I had forgotten that Marcia provided the voice. I loved her on Newhart as his receptionist, at least that’s who I think the photo and name refer to, I didn’t look it up to confirm.

  2. That was awesome. I wish they would voice her character

  3. Thank you 🙂

I seriously could report on her for days. She was amazing. 🙂

  4. Hey Bunny

An excellentpiece a fitting tribute to Edna and Marcia.
