Anyway enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? No, not a day of rest…at least not in MY house! Nope nope it’s time for another Sunday Night Open Thread!
Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING. Just no Add me requests…those should go here. We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.
So…here is your Sunday Night Open Thread. The Olympics have come to a close today. Did your country do as expected? Are you excited for the 2016 Summer games in Brazil? The Valentine’s Day Event in TSTO is scheduled to end on Tuesday (the 25th), did you collect all of the items you wanted from the wheel? Did you earn the Tunnel of Love? Do YOU think there will be a new Level Update this week? What characters would you like to see accompany Level 39? Is it the DMV limo? Because the limo that unlocks Moe’s 60 min task was a limited time limo (NLA), but not the DMV limo. Hope that helps! 🙂

Did anyone know that there are two versions of the downed spaceship
Yup. One is the craft for Kang and the other for Kodos. Only way I can tell which is which is by sending Kodos on her “Act Harmless” task.

Exactly. I was mentioning the blue ones. The first came with Halloween 2012. It appears the programmers wanted the one for Kodos in 2013 to look just a little different.

In the hope that it’s still Sunday, somewhere, and that I’m not committing some hapless newbie sin for which I will be (even if I ought to be) summarily mocked and shunned, I am on the verge of opening a dreaded EA ticket and thought I would ask if there is anything else I should do before taking that step. I bought donuts last night to grab the Gil deal and that went through, but when my Android phone went back to Springfield I got “Tapped Out has quit” and haven’t been able to get in since. I get to the synchronization step, have twice seen the “your other device is still logged in” warning (there is no other device) and tapped through that but just at the point where my Springfield might load, it quits.
I’ve read your most excellent troubleshooting guides (all y’all rock, by the way). Anything specific to donut-purchase woes that I might try?
Unfortunately it sounds like the problem I had when Level 38 dropped. Sounds like you’ve done all the steps we have in our troubleshooting section so the next step is that dreaded EA ticket you mentioned. Small kernel of hope is that the next update will automatically fix your game but that’s ultimately up to you if you want to wait. I’d say do the ticket now.
Thanks – Feedback much appreciated. I’m waiting to try a log in from another device as the last thing to tick off on the list. Then…ticket. I’ll probably miss the GIl deal, but at least I had the Wheel from Hel—I mean the Wheel of Valentine Love completed.
If you do end up putting in a ticket, make sure you mention missing the Gil Deal. You never know how EA will repay you. I’ve heard everything from donuts to limited-time items being given.
Thanks again for your help. EA was pretty prompt, got me restored and added the lost donuts. I missed Gil’s offer, but they gave me enough free to buy the components, and then some. It’s all good.

Here’s hoping that I get the Valentine’s fountain today! That’s the last thing on the wheel that I need to get the Tunnel of Love.

If you haven’t noticed I’ve been noticeably absent from the blog recently. During the week of the Christmas update I couldn’t log in (they were fixing my game), I thought I’d get back into the show that inspired the game. Now I’m on a re-watching marathon, going through all 500+ episodes of The Simpsons. Good news is I’m really enjoying myself. Bad news is it’s limited my time playing TSTO. I’m a lot less OCD with collecting rent and such, but I still play.
That being said, here’s a question for you guys. A lot of people on the Internet say The Simpsons have been declining in quality, and the newer episodes are “unwatchable,” “boring,” and “terrible.” I still think the new episodes are great. They’re not as amazing as some of the older episodes, but they’re really entertaining and anything but unwatchable. Have you guys seen a decline in the show, or is it as good as ever?
Pkkao! We have noticed you’ve been missing, was wondering what happened to you! For me it depends on the episode. I still love the show, and the new episodes, but there are some of the newer episodes where I’m shaking my head thinking they’re “reaching”. It just depends on the episode. Overall I still think the show is great 🙂
I get annoyed at the people constantly bashing the newer shows too. Are the new seasons as good as the really great seasons from years ago? Probably not. Of course, can anyone really say? The show has been on for so long it’s not fair to judge it against shows from 10-15 years ago. After 20 plus years of shows we’re at the point where we can anticipate some of the jokes and have 500 episodes to compare it to. Besides, our minds tend to wax nostalgic and think everything was better when we were younger. Besides, it’s so much easier to be negative, and Internet comment sections seem to attract a lot of negativity. One of the reasons I love this site is that the people who create it and the people who comment are fun and polite and funny, not trolls that just whine and complain. The Simpsons is still one of the best shows on television, and most of those people that say it is horrible now also seem to still be watching it, so what does that say?
So…I need to be more mean and evil and troll like? Awwww man…I’m doing it all wrong. Lol. 😉
I look at the time and effort that goes into the new episodes. For a show 25+ years in the making, I’m still amazed at all they can do and have done. Constantly trying to add new and up to date real life issues into the episodes. They listen to their fans. They joke with us and take jabs at their selves (sound familiar?) In the end…all that matters is making someone smile. Laughter has been and will always be the best medicine. 😉
Bunny, I really don’t think you have it in you to be mean and evil! The Simpsons is one of the few shows that trusts its viewers to get the jokes and references and that counts for a lot in a television landscape full of inane garbage that panders to the lowest common denominator. I’ll take intelligent dumb comedy over just plain dumb any day. Most people miss the point of satire anyway.
Oh….I have fangs. Just takes a lot to push me to that point. I’m a lover, but I’ll fight to protect what I love and am passionate about. However, I usually talk my way out of fights. Can’t laugh and fight at the same time…doesn’t work. Lol 😉
I adore a lot of humor. Grew up watching a lot of UK humor due to my gramms. Monty Python, Faulty Towers, Are You Being Served, Keeping Up Appearances…etc. Watched cartoons when I could sneak in living room. Caught the Simpsons early in life…laughed so hard. They hold a special place in my heart. I just have cried and struggled so much in my life…the only thing that kept me going and still does is laughter. So I will share it and pay it forward when I can. 😉
Fighting for what you love or believe in is actually the opposite of mean or evil, so I stand by my original statement! I’m all about the humor too. Even when I’m bitching about something I’m usually making people laugh while I do it! I love British humor too. Have you ever seen the original “Bedazzled” with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook? One of my favorites.

How long do people generally leave it before deleting lazy neighbours as in days they are inactive?
It depends on what’s going on. During an event usually if the neighbor hasn’t updated their game for the event within a week or so I find people will delete them. Beyond that I find people will wait 3 or so weeks to see if they remain inactive.
Can’t wait for St. Patty’s Day event. Missed my chance to get the Leprechaun.:( I looked through your premium item and limited time event sections and couldn’t find anything on him. Does he provide a % multiplier or any special tasks. Thank you in advance!
No problem…we are working on background posts for all the items past and present…just takes a bit of time. Lol. 😉
The Leprechaun was actually a dual kind of purchase. You bought the Wishing Well during St. Patricks Day Event last year (150 donuts I believe, but will verify in files) and it unlocked the Leprechaun. He gave you some $$ & XP when tapped…then ran around like a million miles an hour. Once he stopped, you could tap him again. I believe 4% was the bonus (again, I’ll double check the files). I personally had just joined then, so I never got him.
I don’t know if he’ll make a return or not. That’s all up to EA.

So what’s a gal to do with all these hearts and spins? I’ve got 12 spins. Was kinda hoping the grinder was coming back.
There was a rumor on the grinder coming back, mostly fueled by a Facebook post that was quickly pulled back, but there’s been nothing to confirm it. Your best bet is to keep spinning the wheel for the items or just let the hearts sit. Unfortunately, that’s all that can be done for now 🙁

Awwww Thanks Seapeach! I have to give credit to Wookie for the prison and the theatre ( i wanted constant action and movement for it ) then the railroad credit goes to our ever happy, always hopping Bunny! Of course if it wasn’t for Alissa, our wonderful head honcho ( thought i wasn’t gonna mention you), this very inspirational site would not exist so my SF wouldve been pretty lame. Kind of here to vent some of my frustration from yesterday when I accidentally used 18 donuts to speed up 120 tickets in Krustyland from the hotel especially considering that I have 110,000 tickets already. I wish it weren’t so easy to do stuff like that, maybe make you confirm using your donuts?
Sucks this happened to you. If you go into your decorations menu, there is a small “i” in the top right corner. When you tap on this, a menu comes up where you can turn on your confirm donut spend settings. Just make sure you check this setting after every update as it sometimes turns itself back off. Wish I could recoop your loss but that’s up to EA. Couldn’t hurt to e-mail them and ask.
Thanks for the help, I changed it in my settings. I wish I knew about that earlier, because I’ve made that mistake a few times before though never as costly as the 18. I’ll try and contact EA to see if that’s possible, might as well ask. Thanks again.

Hey Jo. Here’s my take on it… If you have loads of donuts, then go for it. If you’re like most of us and donuts are scarce then don’t. I think there’s more worthy items (primarily characters) to spend donuts on. I’ll be curious to hear what others think. 🙂

I think it depends how much you use krustyland. Personally I only go there to collect enough to exchange for cash. However, if you use krustyland a lot then it means marge can go. Have you got the maximum friends? With 100 friends you can 590 hearts.. You’re friends will probably deliver you at least 10 hearts to make it up to 600 which is 3 spins on the wheel so if you’ve not got the maximum start adding before the event ends 🙂
