Wookiee: Lord Vader, this is an unexpected pleasure. We are honored by your presence…
Darth Vader: You may dispense with the pleasantries, fuzzball. I’m here to put you back on schedule.
Wookiee: I assure you, Lord Vader. My cheetos encrusted fingers are working as fast as they can.
Darth Vader: Perhaps I can find new ways to motivate you.
Well hey there Addicts. What a week it’s been. So, courtesy of a request from my sister’s beautiful friend who is a tapper and also wanting to wave my Star Wars nerd flag a little, I decided I wanted to do a 2D illustrating my love for the epic saga. Easy peezy… Darth Vader sounded like a fun idea.
Little did I know this 2D would consume me and I’d suddenly be taking orders from the Dark Lord of the Sith himself. No matter how many times I tried to explain he was dead and should probably be appearing as Anakin Skywalker in his non-corporeal form, but there’s just no ordering a Force ghost around. It’s either a language barrier, craziness on my part or the power of his will.
This 2D literally consumed me and to top it off, Lord Vader insisted I let you know about appearances he has made in the Best. Show. Ever. Well here you go my Lord…
“Old Money” (S2:E17) – Among the crowd lining up for Grampa’s money is someone dressed up as Lord Vader. I’ve learned that this impostor was promptly given a throat hug by the REAL deal.
“Round Springfield” (S6: E22) – Vader appears with Bleeding Gums Murphy, Mufasa and James Earl Jones in a Lisa dream sequence. Apparently Vader dislikes this scene as it is absurd to think he sounds like a cartoon lion.
“Burns, Baby Burns” (S8:E4) – Vader helmet seen in Springfield Costume Shop. No comment.
“Gump Roast” (S13:E17) – Hibbert Vader. According to my source, Hibbert is the second baddest black mofo in the galaxy.
“My Big Fat Geek Wedding” (S15:E17) – Vader cosplay at Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi Convention. It’s now officially throat hug day. Something about blue shoes and finding his lack of faith disturbing.
“Bart has Two Mommies” (S17:E14) – Marge Vader mask. He likes it. Arts and crafts are always fun. I think he may have a thing for Marge.
“Lisa the Drama Queen” (S20:E9) – Nelson shows off a headless darth. FACT: Nelson runs fast.
“Take My Life, Please” (S20:E10) – Vader supports Homer’s bid for High School Class President. I was surprised to learn this wasn’t true. Vader isn’t too sure if Bruce the shark did though.
“Angry Dad: The Movie” (S22:E14) – The Adventures of Parody Man – Darth’s helmet is spoofed. Let’s just be clear no one wants to be parody man today. It still smells like electrocuted lunchbox around here.
“Replaceable You” (S23:E4) – Santa’s Little Helper as Vader. This got a chuckle. Vader especially liked Homer’s immediate response of “Ah!!! Thy will be done, Lord Vader. Just don’t hurt me.”
“Georgeous Grampa” (S24:E14) – Burns has a Vader shadow. On this subject Vader is surprisingly mum. He just stares at me with that ever expressive mask of his. I better get to work.
Darth Vader: And now, Wookiee, we will discuss the location of your hidden 2D…
I have a very bad feeling about this… So for my 2D project, I had to find an image. I happened upon this fuse bead image which seemed pretty simple for people to make. With the permission of the Dark Lord, I started my task.
Using black snapdragons, I outlined Vader’s helmet.
I had to use the gray trash cans at the bottom, so I decided to follow the design and fill in all the gray areas next.
Next up was the white areas. I used the propane tanks that can be found as rubbish on all the land. Vader was starting to come together.
Finishing this design was as easy as just filling in the rest of the open space with more black snapdragons and VOILA… the visage of Darth Vader.
Darth Vader: Impressive. Most impressive. You have been taught well. You have controlled your fear. Now, release your 2D anger. Only your 2D can destroy me.
Well, I don’t know about 2D anger (who gets irate over art?), but I did want to show Vader something cool. I found this image on Oogle once more and got started with something just for me.
Using the image, I took snapdragons again to start defining the black areas of his fearsome helmet. Took some trial and error but was happy with what I had after a couple hours.
Next, I wanted to highlight some of the white areas from the image and shiny areas. I figured the propane tanks would work well for this. I tried to tell my guest it might be easier if he sat for the image but his stare made me think it might be a bad idea. Thankfully he disappeared for a while so I could really concentrate.
Lastly I used the trash cans to fill out the image and was really happy with the final design. Now to find out what Darth thought.
Darth Vader: Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to beautify a Springfield is insignificant next to the power of the Force.
Wow, some Sith lords are just hard to please. For fun, if you want to make your own unique Vader 2D, here are some other pixellated images I found.
That last one would be a doozy to do. Well, I sense my guest is tiring of all my rambling. Better to be going before I incite the wrath of him or his master.
Darth Vader: Alissa. Take the bunny and the Wookie to my ship.
Alissa: You said they’d be left at the blog under my supervision!
Darth Vader: I am altering the deal. Pray I don’t alter it any further.
Wookiee: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I knew I shouldn’t have included the LEGO picture at the end. TTFN… Wookiee out?
Love it! Yeah, someone make Jabba/ Leia! You guys should do a Star Wars Springfield show off! Or a 2D contest! That would be epic.
Can you guys just imagine the horrendous accidents involving light sabers???…I mean really…hit the switch just before unsheathing/unholstering and, oops…there goes a whole leg… 🙁
Totally can but it wouldn’t keep me from trying.
Wookiee, I had told my son that I’d try to do a 2D Vader but I won’t copy anyone else’s work…you saved me from doing having to do it!!! Woohoo!!!
It’s great, by the way… 🙂
Thanks freak. Hope the little freak likes it too.
Rawhide! *wink* 😉
Hey guys happy Fat Tuesday!!! I’m celebrating with a candy cane…the snow melted…
Lol uhhh a few months late on that candy cane!
Oh Alissa, you’re in the wrong galaxy… 😉
Story of my life! 😉
C’mon…join us… got some 151…a pina colada with a kick…
Impressive. Most Impressive. Bunny-Won has taught you well, but you aren’t a Jedi yet.
Wookiee, I believe you have just earned the “Coolest Person in the World” award!!!
p.s. Vader is the coolest person in the Star Wars Universe 😉 Sorry Chewie.
Of course…the bad boys are ALWAYS the hottest…errr…coolest. 😉
Thanks Leon. I have a lot of fun in my world. We’ll agree to disagree about which SW character is the coolest. Vader is definitely a bad mamajama.
I thought Han was the coolest. After all, he was frozen in carbonite.
*Ahem*
I’ll show myself out…
“I know” 😉
Wait. This 2D “literally consumed” you? And no Sarlacc joke? Hmmm.
Give him a 1000 years to think on that. 😉
You are absolutely right about the missed opportunity. Officially referring to Bunny’s residence as that now.
Nice! Two thumbs up. …does the wookette fear for your sanity, I wonder? lol
You can’t fear for something that has always been questionable lol. As for a Wookette, no one to worry presently.
Sweet 2D! And love the Mickey pic!
Yeah *cheers and claps* Encore! Encore!
Well done! Maybe I’ll try something similar with Jabba the Hutt later on.
That’d be rad. I’d like to see that.
Oooooo…iconic Jabba/ Leia… That would be sweet. I’m gonna have to try put some stuff. Really sweet Vader btw.
