Should I Spend Donuts on Pokey the Guinea Pig?

We have a new episode tie in!  But, with the new premium item that is limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide whether to buy it or to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can. But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Pokey the Guinea Pig to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this fuzzball to your Springfield.

unlock_pokeyAnimal: Pokey the Guinea Pig
Donut Price: 40 donuts
Limited Time: Yes
Comes With Tasks: No
Bonus: None
Character Collection: More Animals and Pets

Pros:
-Another animal to add into your collection and it’s a a cute little fuzzball!!
-Makes a squeaking noise when tapped and jumps up
-A way (the only way) to keep the guinea pigs roaming your town after you’ve tapped the initial 40.

Cons:
-Very tiny.  Hard to find in your town, especially if you have a lot of roads
-No tasks or questline associated with this character
-40 donuts is a bit of a steep price to

Final Thought:
I must admit this is one I’ve jumped on.  With Freedom I was on the fence for the entire update and ended up buying it at the 11th hour, but with Pokey I jumped at the chance.  40 donuts is a bit steep for a NPC character, but it’s just such a cute little critter I couldn’t resit adding him to my town.  Although I will say he is VERY tiny and often hard to spot in town, especially if you have a lot of roads and buildings.  But the little squeaking noise he makes when tapped makes it worth it.
In the end it’s your call.  What you buy and what you don’t buy is your own personal choice we can only guide you on the facts and let you know what we did and what we think.  Just remember whatever you decide this is a LIMITED-TIME character and once it’s gone, it’s gone…so be sure to get it before the event is over if you’re thinking about it.

What are your thoughts on Pokey?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring this little guy to YOUR Springfield?  What are your initial thoughts on the update itself?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. Bunny what’s your town name I play about 24 seven

    • I am sorry but both my A game and B game are completely full still. I will let our readers know when spots start opening up again if/when players drop off. I wish I could have more than 100, I would fill them up. 🙂

  2. I got 45 donuts spend 3 bucks reach there Should I or should I not? Get the furry small fellow? I did get Bart pet falcon. Should I go ahead completed the set?

  3. I guess I will cave for this one, just because everyone tells me how cute the noises of the guinea pigs were – and I played with the sound off… My other half always rolls his eyes at me anyway when I play Tapped Out, no need to compound that with cheesy music and random quotes 😉

  4. If they would have made it as big as Stampy, I wouldn’t even have to think about it. Imagine a huge guinea pig roaming your town!

  5. I sure hope we get to tap on more Guinea pigs in the future. Way too cute. I’ll cave on pokey, just so I can have one of those critters.

    • lol and you can tap Pokey all you want! Although he won’t roll up in a ball and disappear…he’ll just make a squeaking noise! 🙂

  6. Gotta pass. I won’t buy Freedom, the whale, the funzos, the boadwalk performers, or any other so-called NPCs. I just can’t bring myself to reward EA/Fox for creating a “character” that doesn’t have any tasks. It just feels like paying them to be lazy. I get that some folks enjoy the animations, but I also hear a lot of people complaining about the high (and increasing) cost of premium items in the game. There is a direct link between our willingness to buy 40 donut hamsters (and 300 donut whales) and EA/Fox’s ability to feel justified charging 250 donuts or more for player/building combos. I want more reasonably priced premium items, so I pass on the ones that I don’t think should be premium, and NPCs definitely fall into the category.

    • It definitely comes down to personal game play and what each person is willing to invest into their form of “entertainment”. 😉

I personally would like more interactive animals. Tasks with characters, etc. Like Stampy.

  7. I am still building the Guinea Pig Preserve and was 10 doughnuts short, so I decided to buy a scratch off, I figured at least two should get me at least the same thing as spending $2.00
So I bought One Spin for $0.99 and instead got 50 Doughnuts!!
I didn’t think it was actually possible to win that much on a first try.

Must be my lucky week, yesterday I won $5 on a Mega Millions Lottery ticket quick pick.

I took a pic of the Doughnut Scratchoff but don’t know how to post it here, but I did post it to the Facebook Page in the “Recent Posts By Others” section of you want to see it.
