In Defense of the Easter Bunny

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

How are my favorite addicted Tappers doing today?  Busy zapping and tapping those bunnies?  Collecting all the eggs you can get your hands on?  Working your way through the main questline to earn those extra eggs?  Remember, you can find all the great tips and tricks we’ve posted about the event on our Easter Page.

So here we are day 3 of the Easter Event and from what we’ve been seeing in the comments most of you are loving this update!  Of course there are a few negative nellies in the bunch, when isn’t there?  But for the most part, so far, many of you are enjoying this update!

And I say…what’s not to love?  Lots of free prizes to earn, hilarious dialogue, characters we’ve ALL been asking for and FREE donuts!

I’m seriously loving this update and choose to remain positive about the twists and turns that are in store for us during the next 25 days!  In fact I’m enjoying this update so much it’s inspired me to do something I don’t normally do around here….and that’s give my opinion.

So sit back, relax and let me tell you why I choose to enjoy this update…

Huggs head 1 egg council guy 2  Father Sean

Let’s start with the basics of game play…

The Dialogue
This update contains some of the funniest dialogue I’ve seen in this game.  The writers are constantly poking fun at the game, themselves and US!  Not to mention those people who don’t know how to turn off the “Sent From my Phone” message on their cell phone email!  Seriously, take the time to read the dialogue that pops up during each new quest, it’ll make you giggle!  And if it doesn’t…well then you might have bigger issues than trying to collect all of the Eggs in this event!

That New Players Can Play it And Have Fun
One of the common complaints I hear about events like this is that, nothing costs in game cash.  You either have to win everything or use donuts.  But many of those complaints come from players at Level 39.  Long time Tappers with a large bank of in game cash.  However, those Tappers tend to forget about the newer players….those below Level 39.  Heck those below Level 25.

This update unlocks for EVERYONE Level 5 and up.  That means you have a wide range of Tappers playing this game from those just starting out and may only have $1000, or less, in their in game bank and those, like me, who have been playing for well over a year and have an in game bank of millions.  The Easter Event puts NO ONE at an advantage.  Every player is treated the same when it comes to how you win prizes.  And I love that!

Try to remember what it was like when you first started playing.  How hard it was for you to earn money to move onto the next building.  Now imagine if you threw a limited-time event in the mix and had to spend any and all money you earned on the event, not on moving forward in the game.  Or if you didn’t have enough money to get the items from the event.  How disappointed would you be?  Would you still be playing today if that happened to you?

The answer is most likely you wouldn’t be.  You’d get frustrated and give up.  So just remember, next time you complain about how an Event doesn’t have many things you can “buy” with in-game cash…there’s someone at a lower level grateful that they don’t have to use their in-game cash to buy things for the event.  It’s hard enough to buy what you’ll need for the levels!

Level Updates are for older, experienced players with large bank accounts….Events are for ALL Tappers.  And I love that about this event!

The Bunnies
Oh those Bunnies!  They’re EVERYWHERE and soooo much better to look at than those snakes from last year!  I love how you can earn more than 1 egg from a bunny, how quickly they come back in your town, how you can earn more through Cletus’s Farm AND that Bunny Zapper!  That Zapper is just so much fun to work and seriously saves a ton of time when search for those little critters!  They like to hide behind bushes and buildings…but hey they are bunnies!

Friend Points STILL Work
Not every Tapper has maxed out their Friend Points yet and I LOVE that this update keeps that element in the game still.  So not only do you earn eggs from your neighbors but you’ll also continue to earn FP’s (if you haven’t maxed out), which means you can continue to progress and earn the social prizes, while going through this update.

FREE Donuts
I LOVE how they included an option to get something out of all those fences you’ll get from the boxes.  Sooo many people complained about the useless items on the Valentine’s Day Wheel, especially the fences.  So EA did something about it.  Not only do they poke fun of the fact that the fences are “useless” (although I know many of you are loving them, and including them in many of your designs around Springfield!), they’re giving you 15 donuts for earning them!
freedonutseasterNow I know there are some out there that well…like to call me out by name on other blogs, that don’t appreciate the fact that you can earn 15 FREE donuts for getting fences.  That the time spent isn’t worth the “$0.60 in donuts”.  Well to those people I say…shove another bran muffin in your mouth grandpa and shut up!

You complain when EA doesn’t give you Free Donuts, you complain when they give you 2, 3 or 5 free donuts and now…oh this takes the cake….you complain when they give you 15 FREE DONUTS?!  Are you out of your ever loving mind?!  Has dementia started to kick in for you?

This is, to date, the most amount of donuts given away in this game for doing 1 task.  And in all honesty, you don’t have to really do anything extra.  You’re ALREADY going to play the update.  You’re ALREADY going to try the prize boxes.  And you’re more than likely going to win those fences…so why not at least get free donuts out of the deal?  If you’re honestly going to complain that it’s not worth your time…then don’t do it. And leave the free donuts to those of us who don’t spend $10 on golf balls every time we tee off!

Oh and btw…to that blogger that likes to call me out by name…THANKS!!…it just sends more people to our happy little blog. As for being optimistic and happy that a company, that doesn’t owe freemium players anything, gives us those “$0.60 worth of donuts”…I’ll keep drinking the water over here.  Because last time I checked you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar!

Now back to more pleasant things…

The Easter Prize Boxes
I really love how the prizes are broken up into different boxes.  This element allows you to stop playing 1 box once you’ve collected all of the prizes that you want from it, and then you can focus on the other 2 boxes.  And each box has different odds and variables.  It’s a neat little concept & one that I know will save many of us a lot of time and aggravation!
Screenshot_2014-04-16-00-37-54I also love how when you clear a unique prize from a box, it’s replaced by Eggs and not by more fences or in game cash!  Eggs we can use…$1,000 won’t help us out so much with this update!

The Egg Swap
This is a neat feature, one that I both love and hate about this update.  I love it because it encourages interaction with your neighbors, much like leaving them snake eggs last year, but I hate it because the baskets are 1 time use.  And while you can win them for free, many of you are spending donuts on them.  It would be great if you could just exchange eggs with your neighbor without the basket hoopla.  But I do like the concept of this…execution is just flawed.

Now onto the free stuff with this event…

Buildings
I love the buildings included with this update.  The design of Banana Dictatorship has got to be one of my favorites in the game!  I love that the buildings (sadly except the BD) have character tasks assigned to them, that makes them all the better.  It’s always great when a building gets used & doesn’t just sit in town!

I’m also loving that both Johnny Fiestas and Banana Dictatorship can go onto Squidport OR in Springfield.  It’s nice to have the option to decide where it can go, unlike previous buildings where they were for one place or the other.  I like that these can make to the boardwalk or downtown Springfield, really helps to create some unique designs (and I can’t wait to see what you guys design!)

Characters
Fr. Sean (has a full task list AND questline when unlocked) has got to be my favorite character in this game!  His animations are hilarious and his questline…seriously had me laughing so much that my husband had to ask what was wrong with me.  I’m loving the fact that a Catholic made it into the game…although he does make me feel guilty for missing mass a few times!  Oh that Catholic guilt!  Where’s the confessional when I need it…
Father sean rap

Shary Bobbins (has a full task list AND questline when unlocked) has made it into the game!  FINALLY! One of my favorite characters from The Simpsons, so glad she used that grey magic to come back!  Not only that..she flys, how cool is that?!

Hugs Bunny! (has a full task list AND questline when unlocked)  Oh man, I didn’t think I would love him as much as I do.  He was the second prize I unlocked on my “B” game in the Gold Box and I just giggled the entire time.  He has one of the best animations in the game when he fights Homer.  I just make him do that task over and over and over again.  Nothing says fun like watching a man in a giant Bunny costume beat up Homer Simpson right?
hugs and homer fight 2I am a little disappointed with the Non-Playable Characters (NPCs), but with every update we get some of those funny guys roaming the streets of our Springfields!  The Egg Council Guy does make me laugh whenever you tap him and he falls down…and can’t get up.  Always good for a giggle.  And Bunny 24601 does fly when tapped, so that’s neat.  But ultimately they are NPCs who will just walk around and get in the way from time to time (although I still laugh when I accidentally hit the Frog Prince and make him barf!)

The Duration of the Event
Pretty happy with how long this should take many of us.  It gives everyone something to do in their Springfield continuously.  So, no more complaining about 24 and 48 hour tasks where there’s no reason to login to your game.  THIS update gives you plenty of reason to check in on your Springfield frequently!

And finally…

Reader Response
You guys have been AWESOME during this event.  We LOVE seeing your comments and you provide us (and each other) with many laughs and giggles along the way.  The way you guys are loving and enjoying this update just makes me love it even more!

Since this update hit we have fielded over 4,500 of YOUR comments.  That’s in THREE days!  That tells me something about this update.  That tells me you guys are involved in what’s going on, you’re engaging in the event and you’re still tap tap tapping away!

You guys are seriously amazing and we LOVE hearing from you…good and bad…and helping you in any/every way we can!

I know the objective of this update can be a bit daunting at times, and feel like many of the goals are unreachable, but I choose to stay positive.  Why?  Because it’s a game.  Games are supposed to be fun.  And…if memory serves me correctly….in every game there are winners and losers.  But just because you lose a game doesn’t mean you never play it again, does it?  If you’re truly of the mentality of “taking your toys and going home” because you’re not winning everything…then you’re, unfortunately, a sore loser and you’ll always be one.

Over a year ago during Whacking Day I didn’t win all of the prizes…heck I didn’t even come close…but here I am 1 year later still Tapping.  Why?  Because it’s a game, one that I love playing with or without all of the prizes.

What are YOUR thoughts/opinions on the event?  What do you like about it?  What do you hate?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. I haven’t seen a basket in my inventory since Sunday. Does anyone know if there if EA has set a limit of zapped bunny baskets and I just happened to hit mine so soon?

  2. Interesting perspective, though it should be noted that this update is actually more punitive for new tappers than previous updates. From what I remember, most updates have required the attainment of level 15 and a fully constructed Moe’s. However, this update is the first to require a level as high as 26 and Ralph Wiggum.

    • No it still only requires Level 15 to complete the main walkthrough. The quest involving Ralph and Nelson are both side quests that will not hinder your progress through the main update if you don’t complete. 🙂

    • While I wish EA hadn’t used such a high level character, the good news is it’s just a side quest and doesn’t effect the primary Easter task progression. I could see how folks might be upset with it. Thankfully collecting eggs isn’t relegated to only high level players. It’s also nice it doesn’t require a ton of game cash to move along.

  3. I’ve gotten 3 donuts today from visiting friends! And I have 20 pieces of fence, so I’ll hopefully get that 15 donut win as well!

    • 20…or 21? The ones that count come in groups of 3. The pastels are only 2 I believe. Just want to make sure you got the right count for them. 😉

  4. Soooo frustrating! 20 boxes and all i have are fences, trees, and that stupid little egg pile! I know it’s early, and it’ll get better, but I needed to vent. Maybe the next box….. Can I just say I really hate the egg pile? So not useful. At least the fences are the means to an end!

    • Everyone has their favs. No worries. Vent away. I myself am very fond of the decorations, but I use them constantly. Someone that doesn’t wouldn’t have a want for them. I get that. I also was disappointed in Shary Bobbins, but she also is the hardest to obtain. I much prefer the Father Sean and Hugs Bunny characters. 😉

      • Yes, I’m hoping for Fr. Sean eventually…it’s the Catholic in me! Meanwhile I’ve soothed myself by buying the Easter float. All in all I’m really liking this event. I just wish we could keep a few bunnies as decorations when it’s all over…they’re so CUTE!

        • ME TOO!! I like #24601 cuz it flies…but I want the bright ones too! 😉

          • 24601 **FLIES**? I wasn’t impressed when I got him, figured just another walkin around, whatever type of thing. BUT if it flies, I’m likin that 🙂

    • My sentiments exactly Miranda! The egg pile is too small to look like an egg pile, & not colorful enough. I stored all 3 of mine.

I love everything about this easter event I love the bunny taser I love the bunnies the prizes are great heheh I can’t wait to get the giant walking egg

  6. 45,000 eggs and only a fence to show for it!!! I want a fricken building or a character. Uggggggh!!!

    • You’ve had 90 tries in the boxes and didn’t unlock anything but 1 fence? Are you sure that’s the case? Is something off on your numbers? What color eggs have you been collecting? How many tries in each box? At 500 eggs/turn 45,000 eggs is 90 tries (even if it’s over 3 boxes). Please clarify a little more for me.
      Thanks! 🙂

  7. Hi, will I be able to keep my Easter Baskets if I leave them safely in my inventory box. I would like to use them for decorations once this event is over. Or will they disappear if I don’t use them?

    • They disappear when used. So I assume since they are coded to the event that they too will disappear with it. No way to know for sure til its over.

  8. For what it’s worth, I just want to throw in my support for Alissa and the rest of y’all for staying positive. I think frustrations are inevitable and even justifiable (especially for those with money invested in the game – it’s hard not to be disappointed when you feel you’re not getting a return on your money!), but it is a game, after all, and it doesn’t have to be perfect to enjoy it.

No matter how you feel about the update, I think it was pretty tasteless for someone to turn their own frustrations with the game into a personal smear-campaign/vendetta. I can see why some people might say, “this is the last straw, EA, never again!”, but sometimes it gets to sounding like a crisis of spiritual faith. Then it just gets weird and kind of uncomfortable.

Anyway, it’s early days yet, and things still have a chance to even out and for people to get the hang of things. I’m content to stick with the update, and to see if EA has any alterations in store. If not – well, somehow, I think life will go on. 😉 Keep up the good work and comment-responding, and thanks for helping us remember why we love this game in the first place!

  9. I am enjoying the challenges in this event but I am having a problem unlocking the Wiggum house. Does anyone have a suggestion? I’d appreciate any help.

  10. wildthornberry88

Am enjoying the bunny zapping and the questline but it’s been a few days now and I STILL haven’t gotten enough eggs for my non-dominant box let alone enough golden eggs for a gold box 🙁 wish I could get more chances quicker but I’ve been playing several times a day and had only a pink box a day – 100 gold eggs x2 and 6 fence pieces, no blue and no gold box 🙁 getting bored with trying already heh XD

    • Awwww sorry about that. It varies soooo much for each player, you never know who is going to get what and when. Check your inventory every now and then (lil cardboard box) to see if you picked up a basket without knowing. Otherwise hang in there, this is a LONG event. Plenty of time still left. Just mainly…have fun 🙂

      • wildthornberry88

Lol I got a beach umbrella and more fence though I did finally get my blue box in which I got the 300 gold eggs. I’ll give you one guess as to what I got in the gold box XD ah well, I got my frink generator and carrots at least 🙂

  11. My easter update doesn’t happen except for 2 decorations I’ve got nothing. I’ve cleared the cache, downloaded the game again twice but nothing. What else can I do?
    Thanks.

  12. I don’t understand getting the baskets. I have 3 towns (I know dumb, but one was a backup & one was my grandson’s that I can’t let run down since he quit it…can you say OCD) anyway out of these 3 first town I have received 3 blue baskets 1 pink; second town 1 blue; third town nothing. I play all of these the same amount of time & I check my inventory every time I zap, so why don’t I get baskets in all of them? Also when I give eggs I don’t always receive my 50.
    Anyone else having this problem?

    • It is complete random. Similar to a donut popping out while tapping on FPs after maxed. There is no rhyme or reason or daily amount. Just…random. Sorry, wish I could tell you different.

      • Thanks, between these 3 towns & Family Guy I’m getting a blister!! I don’t even watch either show.
Also in regards to that “other” blogger, I get so tired of him talking about y’all & the original TSTO guy. He needs to understand he is where he is now because of him, he received his followers & they are the ones that bought the talked about “WAY TOO MUCH” book…

        • HAHAHAHAHAH. Oh man. The stories I could tell. You are just lucky to see the teeny tiny itsy bitsy surface of it all. But that is just fine with me. I will protect our readers here as much as I can from that kind of negativity. It is just so pointless and ridiculous. All for a silly lil game. All because I like to laugh and smile and have fun and not gripe about a gift when I see one. Sorry…I am a glass half full person. I have a funner life that way and enjoy small things more. So if that makes me a Bliss Ninny…then A BLISS NINNY AM I AND *@#$ PROUD OF IT!!! 😛

Live, Laugh, Love, Be happy 😉

  13. While I do enjoy the events that make you work a little for the prizes, I do also wish that there was a small change. Hear me out because I’m happy the way things are but what if :
Each prize you win is “unlocked” and then removed from the prize location. (Only for non-unique items) and available in the store for multiple purchases. In this event let’s just say those prizes are replaced with small amounts of eggs. (50 or 100)
The only reason I say that is because I was one of the very few people that didn’t win as many valentine fences as I would have liked. So I am totally biased and fearful that I won’t have enough pretty easter fences Lol.
But to all the negative ppls, It is a game. GAME. It means have fun. If you are not having fun, stop playing and it wont make you mad anymore. Simple.
Love all of you here & keep up the positivity 😀

    • I think that is a GREAT idea. I do see the good and bad to this event. Truly. The baskets…get on my nerves. I am hoping people contact EA and voice their opinion on all they see. It is the way we have gotten all the changes we have now in our game. They continue to streamline it. Overall, a MUCH better event with MORE prizes than this time last year. I am truly having a blast so much so, I keep forgetting the whole turn in eggs to get a prize. I am just giggling zapping bunnies and going to neighbors to get more eggs. As a 2D/3D artist…you KNOW I would spend every last in game cash cent to get me a stockpile of these decorations. I want MORE MORE MORE!!! Lol. ;P

And you are correct, it is a game. Regardless what anyone says…to me…it is STILL the best FREEMIUM game out there. Bar none. I still enjoy playing it with my FREEMIUM A game.

      • Hahaha yes Bunny I know for sure you would be broke 😛 and that would be a downfall for lower level players, but with the event lasting so long I think it would still work out OK. I mean, you could get the first 3 fences free and have the opportunity for a lot more if you wanted 🙂 I still have a ton of those darn flower carts from VDay ( I wish I could give my excess to you Lol)

        • It would. Like I said, a great idea. I would like more items to purchase too. I will wait to see what (if they have it) this years yard sale brings. 😉

    • I love the easter fences too and I hope I can get enough to surround McBain’s mansion! 😀 If I’m like.. 3 fences short or something it’ll probably make my brain explode.

I wish the tree would get removed, I already have 2 and I find them ugly.. lol. They’ll probably end up in storage.

      • The tree looks like a giant feather duster or something lol

      • or cotton candy. I think it looks kind of Seussian, which is kind of cool, but I’ve got literally nothing else it goes with. I put one of them at Calmwood.. seemed to fit there 😛

      • Lol! I’m glad I’m not the only one who actually WANTS fences (and not just for the donuts) 🙂

  14. I know I already chimed in, but I just want to comment as someone who works in the entertainment industry – imagine how many people work at EA and work on this game. They need to make a living wage. So if you’re if annoyed that the game isn’t totally 100% free, or that EA is encouraging people to spend money so they don’t just get stuck with fence pieces.. that’s why. Gotta pay those developers a living wage… they’re not INTERNS. And STILL, there is so much free content. Go to any store or restaurant and you won’t get as much free stuff as they are giving us in this game.

And I haven’t even gotten any of the “good” prizes… though I will say my 9 fence pieces and easter gate are looking nice in front of McBain’s house 😉

    • Thanks for the input Sam! 🙂

    • Sambakitty, you hit the nail on the head! Sometimes I feel envious of those towns I see with all the stuff, but because those people are willing to pay, I can play for free with no banner ads, and I spend about $5 a month on scratchers to support the game (and for fun)! Even if you get the paid version of angry birds you have to see all their in game ads. The Simpsons license is not cheap, and licensing deals often require a guaranteed revenue minimum. There’s no doubt that this is a profitable game for EA, and I’m okay with that. I mostly used to play PC point and click adventure games back in the day. Myst cost around $30 in the early 90s, which is equal to about $50 today. Now you can buy it for 4.99….. I do get cranky when game developers use free as a bait and switch, giving their free players nothing and constantly trying to get people to spend. Right now i feel EA is not doing that, and I will walk when it starts to bug me. No harm no foul. Don’t even get me started on my feelings about exploitation, unpaid “internships” and social class…. you’ll get a 50 page off topic rant 🙂

      • 100 pages at least from me. 😛

Overall…the game is still fun and enjoyable. I have since deleted pretty much all the other “free” games I was playing. When it stops being fun for me, I will stop playing. No point then to continue. 😉

  15. I ♥♥♥love♥♥♥ the content of the update! So fun!!! And I liked the idea of color teams and swapping… but, if you really want fully honest opinions, I still think wheels and baskets and boxes and all these gimmicks for obtaining the new items are… bunk. I guess chance and gambling are fun to some people, but I’ve never really liked it. And it seems like a huge amount of extraneous programming that (a) creates extra obstacles that prevent people from getting the items they want and (b) just increase opportunities for glitches. I was a victim of the unfixed Christmas card counter glitch, and missed out on the prize I wanted the most. Now I have unreceptive basket glitch, and can’t receive eggs from neighbors. I am totally ignorant of all the intricacies of programming, but it seems that earning $$$ and donuts (for spending on content we want) is a system that works without issues, so why not keep it simple and have events that work with less… steps? Halloween ’13 was much more streamlined and I don’t remember glitches with earning or spending the event currency… there was the wandering character issue, though. Maybe these headaches and disappointments are an inevitable part of events. To quote the sage wisdom of Beavis: “it’s like you need stuff that sucks to have stuff that’s cool. heh heh.”

    • Lol. I get your point. Halloween was actually stuffed FULL of glitches, just ask our resident Wookiee. He was locked out of his game for weeks while Homer disappeared. As well as another reader here had Lisa stuck out to sea. Literally. She was out there and you could not get to her.

Issue is people complained to EA over and over and over that the Events were TOO simple. Prizes TOO easy and to give them more to do. So they aren’t bored in a week or two. EA listened and did just that. Added more twists and turns and factors to keep you tapping daily and always giving you something to do.

Whacking Day last year, all be it fun, was a nightmare. You had to work daily to find snakes, tap them, gather eggs, hope you had enough to trade with a neighbor, go give them what you had (even if you only had 30 to split to 100) and in the end people STILL did not get the prizes.

To me, it seems the prizes are becoming a lil more attainable and the game is MORE interesting for Freemium players now too. I started freemium and played for months that way. My freemium town has gained 500+ donuts over the course of playing (most from Halloween and now FPs donuts). So I still have never bought donuts for it. I love to play it at the regular pace and have fun.

In the end, this is just a silly lil game and how we play it is up to each individual. The saying goes “Nothing is Free” which I find true. Yes you can get prizes, but as a company, they want something in return for it. So they want you involved in their game on a daily basis, involve your friends, and keep the game going. You do have to put in some work and effort…but just don’t get so involved that it only becomes work. HAVE FUN. 😉

I am so sorry for your glitches. They are aware and working on them. Just make sure you do contact them and get a ticket opened for your game. That way you can be compensated. (Did they ever compensate you for the Christmas issues?)

  16. Love your insight, Alissa, but I loved your bran muffin comment even more! Way to stand up to the cyberbully next door…

  17. I’ve been at Level 39 and bored for the last few months. But I spend all my game cash buying/selling weather stations for the XP, to progress to the next Bonus Level and win donuts. It’s the only legit way to buy donuts with game cash.

  18. Wonder if this comment will stick or be deleted, but…

“You complain when EA doesn’t give you Free Donuts, you complain when they give you 2, 3 or 5 free donuts and now…oh this takes the cake….you complain when they give you 15 FREE DONUTS?! Are you out of your ever loving mind?! Has dementia started to kick in for you?”

Let’s set aside the needless insult and focus on the issue, shall we? So, you’ve tapped all day long and finally earned yourself a “spin” on one of them fancy boxes. You take a deep breath, cross your fingers, pray to your favorite deity and tap the screen… and get 3 useless decorative pieces of fence, instead of your coveted prize, which, looking at what’s happened in the past, may be available afterwards to you for 90 or so donuts… but hey, if this disheartening experience happens to you at least 17 times you’ll get 15 donuts!

Now, I like to think of myself as being a reasonable, coherent individual, who likes to explore both sides of the story, and in all honesty this is the best deal EA has offered it’s players so far, and they had absolutely no obligation to… so I don’t want to sound like an ingrate.

That being said, what about giving us the actual “good” prizes, instead of shoving a bunch of useless decorations down our throats? Because, quite honestly, anyone who doesn’t realize the “content updates” EA puts out there are given to the players so they don’t lose interest in the game and move to something else – and not because EA is being generous – need to try and be a little bit more aware. (see how I exposed my point without calling anyone demented?)

    • Here’s the deal…first off we don’t normally delete reader comments unless they’re going to bring anger and more attacks. That being said your comment on the math post has been deleted. That will only insight a war of words…one we wish to avoid.
Here’s the way I see it. EA is a business. They earn $0 from players who play freemium, will only play fremium & will never spend a dollar on this game. Yet, they still have a ton of freemium content.
There are no ads in this game. So again EA earns $0 from this game if the player does not spend money in this game.
This event is designed for the players who like to excessively buy things immediately. They’ll spend the donuts to get the prizes (on average $40) right away. Those are the players that don’t care. They don’t want to tap and collect, tap and collect and spend the time to get everything. THAT is who EA is feeding off of on this event. That’s where they make their money.
That all being said let’s compare this to last year’s whacking day. 50 snakes per town max, 1 snake every 8 min, meaning 50 snakes every 6hrs and 40 min, or about 154 snakes per day MAX. If you had no neighbors this would take you 81+ days to complete. In comparison this event you’ll earn 240-250 eggs per day (1 bunny every 5 min, max of 60 per town and some bunnies award you 2 eggs). These numbers don’t take into account visiting neighbors, and egg swap.
This is basically Whacking Day part 2…they’re doing the exact same thing they did with whacking day last year, except here you’ll get more prizes. Vs. Whacking Day you got a whacking license, snake rocks, and a pet snake.
Many people like the fences and the other prizes because it allows for decorating possibilities. Do you need a ton of them? It depends on the design, but at least every time you spin you’re winning something.
Not to mention this event has 8 “good prizes” plus 2 premium topiary prizes that will earn you bonus % for each one you have, vs. Whacking Day where you got 4 buildings, 2 characters, and 2 skins…then a bunch of random stuff.
Basically this isn’t anything different than it was last year…except (IMO) slightly better. More to offer. 500 eggs you get a spin. It’s not deflating to a point where you’ll get 500 snakes and still not have enough for the next prize.
And if you read this blog regularly at all…which I doubt you do…you’d know exactly where my comments stem from.

  19. Alissa I’m afraid I won’t get all the easter 2014 people when is the update til

  20. Kind of upset with the slow egg collection rate….spent 500 blue and 500 pink eggs, won golden eggs from both boxes and then used the 500 gold eggs won to get a gold box to win….2 fence pieces. 2 days work to get 2 fence pieces? At this rate the whole game will go by and I won’t even have earned enough fence pieces to do the place 50 fences task much less anything else. As for the idea that everyone will get everything, I’m not sure how that could happen when each box type defaults after 80 purchases. The event is not 160 days long, so…..sure hope the rate of collection increases as the story line progresses more….

    • Over the course of the questline you’ll earn 5,200 eggs (dominant color). You’ll also earn an additional 250 eggs of your dominant color for every building you win and build (so 250 for Blocko, 250 for Banana Dictatorship and 250 for Johnny’s). I will say this…if you only clear bunnies out once a day, and don’t have a full 100 neighbors’s….it will be difficult to clear all 3 boxes. You’ll most likely get your dominant color cleared and the other color, but your gold box will be difficult.
This event is designed for the excessive tapper. Much like Whacking Day was.
The files indicate that each box defaults after 81 boxes BUT from what I’m seeing from 5 towns so far you’ll clear your dominant box fairly quickly and your non-dominant box in much less than the 81 boxes.

  21. Absolutely LOVE the update! The overlap glitch is gone (at least it is for me). I love the bunnies, love the decoratons, love the buildings and love the new characters. The only problem is that I have used way too many donuts buying things I really should wait for but I am to GREEDY and impatient (I’ll go on a donut diet AFTER). Oh and did I mention l love the update!

  22. Fences and ponds as a reward for tapping – in previous events (until the dreaded wheel), you would have bought these with game dollars. Instead, after 4 days of tapping, that’s all I have – and looking at my friends’ towns, it’s the same story there.

I’m sorry, but I have to disagree – this is the most cynical event yet and, after 2 years, the clearest sign I’ve seen that EA no longer cares about the game – it only cares about making as much money as it can while this game still has life. Only two new levels so far this year, no more land, and events reduced to games if chance rather than rewards for time and effort – I know you guys have been playing for as long as I have, so I really don’t understand why you are so enthusiastic about this event – it’s not that the goals are difficult to achieve, it’s that no matter how you play, it all depends on chance. And that means only cheaters or those with deep pockets really stand a chance of winning – and that’s hardly fair.

    • I completely disagree with that. This Event is Whacking Day Part 2…only better.

  23. I have a few ponderances (I know, not a word, but I like making up my own). I’ve noticed a **lot** fewer eggs to tap on since this event started, so complain or not, more are playing this event, which is good. Next… curiosity has the best of me as to why some are still vandalizing… wouldn’t they want eggs???

Other than that, a simple note to self, never tap even near spray cans or $ signs for eggs, your tapper isn’t that accurate LOL.

Also, more thanks to Frostee, Vivoy & XX for the eggs, if I miss anyone, sorry & thank you too, the names go up so quick. I love my neighboreenos, they’re great 🙂

I went out of state today, I love that the game notified me I was over-run with bunnies, I was able to quickly go in & zappereeeno them so more could produce.

    I.LOVE.THIS.EVENT!

    • On the issue of why people still vandalize, I think it’s habit. During FP events, both players can get FPs when someone vandalizes a building. They may think it is still the same during this event. While I still get the occasional vandal, the regular vandals has stopped.

      • I must be confused then. I thought EA changed it to where anyone not maxed out on FP got FP for all actions. I was tapped out early each time since I play several times daily, clearing the vandalism, & have 100 neighbors who were very kindly on vandalizing me. I’ve accidentally vandalized since this event started, but I’m being vandalized by the same neighbors for the most part. Is it that I was incorrect, and they still need to vandalize (which really doesn’t matter to me since I have so many climbing walls it doesn’t make a difference).

        • The difference now is you do NOT get eggs through vandalizing your neighbor, so unless they have all the prizes they want already, it is pointless for them and a waste of adding to their egg count. FPs now come out of pretty much almost every handshake from your neighbors.

  24. This happens when I visit friends towns..
I noticed that since the update, I don’t always get the XP Pop-up after clicking and clearing three friends houses, I get eggs and money and whatever pops out of the house, but not the Area Compleated pop-up.
Any idea why, or did I just find a new glitch?

    • CapCityGoofball

I’be noticed that too! It seems to only happen to me in towns that have egg baskets to exchange colors, but even that is not consistent.

    • Getting more and more reports of it. I am watching it. I suggest to contact EA. I just tested both my A and B game on two separate devices. Went through at least 20 neighbors each for both games. Waited on some for the game to collect my 3 tap goodies…got the pop up. Tapped and collected the goodies myself in some others…got the pop up. So it is still working for me. Very strange this one.

      • I did the same things you did to see what was happening I would say I didn’t get the pop-up 1/2 the time..
I did it by backing out if the town and entering fresh, and by hopping town to town, but it was still about 50-50.
Maybe it’s a glitch only on iOS devices?
Has anyone else had this problem?

Also I was wondering, do you get more money if you click on a house in your town with a handshake on it?
Or do you get the same amount of money either way?

        • In the past, it still regenerated the cash for you, as if they were tapping on it and clearing it the same as you…so if it was a 4 hr building and you were gone 8 it would give you cash for two times. I havent rechecked it this time around.

      • I notice this only happened in towns where the neighbor had a basket out. I took a chance, and gave away some of my blue eggs, but since they had other baskets out, I still didn’t get the confirmation. I hope EA is still crediting us. I’ll have to keep track of it as I finish my visiting tonight.

      • Just checked it, I got 34 xp for visiting 1 neighbor who had baskets & didn’t get a pop-up after the eggs & everything cleared. So I think that is right, as far as getting credit for all of our XP.

        • EA said it is a known issue, which means a lot of people are missing that extra 25XP at the end. The rest of the XP is just something you normally collect from the taps.

          • Oh, so I should get the 34 and 25?. I did not know that. Thanks Bunny 🙂

            • You should get Eggs, $$$, XP, and FP (if you haven’t maxed) from tapping. When either you tap and collect it all after hitting the 3 buildings in your neighbors…or whether you wait for the game to gather it for you…once its all gathered at the end you should see that screen pop up telling you “Thank You” for being a good neighboreeno and let you collect and additional 25XP.

              • If they have baskets, I never get the box that pops up. Visited at least 30 neighbors last night, was true for each one with a basket :/

    • Ivanbezdomnyscat

I notice this happens only to towns with Easter baskets in them. Maybe you can only get the xp if you donate eggs…

      • Odd…12 of the 20 I visited had baskets…still got it. o.O

        • Hmm, I will have to check if there are baskets in the towns that I visit to see if baskets in those towns are preventing the extra 25xp from popping up. But right now I can’t because my towns are all “Tapped Out”. 🙂

        • Nope, found a town with a basket and got the 25XP so you don’t need to donate eggs to get XP

          • You NEVER should have to. That wouldnt be right.

            • Someone in a different post on TSTOA suggested it so I was just checking it out, and you mentiond that maybe towns with baskets in them didn’t give the 25 XP and it seems they do, so I t might just be an iOS version glitch.

I wasn’t about to donate eggs just to see if I got XP!

              • Lol. I hopped through towns with them. Did NOT donate. Got the pop up. We are trying to see if the issue is actually COLOR dominant. Like all Blue have issue. Or all Pink have issue.

              • I’m blue (well not as in sad LOL), and on IOS

    • I noticed that if you have eggs to spare, and you don’t share when visiting a neighbor, you don’t get the xp points. I think EA WANTS us to share the bounty!

  26. I am loving the update. I wish I was brave enough to spend donuts and stop trying to save them for something good. I love this blog and game. I was going to give it up for 40 days but I decided against that!!! 🙂

  27. Oh snaaaaaaap. I don’t know who dude is from the ‘other blog’ but you sunning him. Hahahah. Funny. Keep up the good work.
On the real though, I better get Shary Bobbins.

  28. Hi need help How do i delete a neighbor that the game will not ??

  29. “Shove another bran muffin in your mouth grandpa and shut up!”

    Priceless.

Seriously, though, I have no idea why they’re being so negative. We are getting free stuff, and they’re complaining? Jeez, it’s just a game.
