Should I Spend Donuts on Dewey Largo and Lotto ‘N’ Liquor Store?

Level 40 is here, right smack dab in the middle of the Easter Event, and with it comes another Springfield Elementary character to add to the Springfield crowd, Dewey Largo!  Finally, music can be restored to the second grade!  I’m sure you’re asking ‘Should I Spend Donuts on This?’ Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding Mr. Largo to YOUR Springfield!

Lotto_'N'_Liquor_Tapped_Out                Dewey_Largo

Building: Lotto ‘n’ Liquor
Character: Dewey Largo
Donut Price: 150 donuts
Dimensions: 6×3
Payout:
$105,11xp Every 3hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +10

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Quest line involves a lot of characters and is quite amusing.
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Voiced Character (becoming rarer and rarer in the game)
-Lotto ‘n’ Liquor adds to Consumerism, one of the hardest to max out in the game with out multiple Kwik-E-Marts (or Ferris Wheels), unless you’ve been playing TSTO for a long time and have a lot of limited-time buildings

Cons:
-Pricey.  150 donuts is on par with other character/building combos and certainly not the highest (Manjula and Disco Stu are more) but still 150 donuts is a steep price to pay.
-No character interaction after initial questline is complete
-Only two tasks are visible (outside)

Final Thought:
Personally, if you have the donuts to spend, I say go for it.  It’s another school worker to add to Springfield & someone many Tappers have been looking for in the game for a while now.  His questline is amusing and is very interactive with other characters.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you Mr. Largo was a purchase I made right away.  However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Mr. Largo will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

Mr. Largo’s Tasks:
Dewey Largo 1         Dewey self loathe     Dewey Conduct

Task Task Length Payout Building
Scratch Scratchers and Guzzle Grigio 1hr $105, 26xp Lotto ‘N’ Liquor
Conduct School Orchestra 2hrs $175, 40xp Springfield Elementary
Conduct Without An Orchestra 4hrs $260, 70xp Outside
Self-Loathe 8hrs $420, 105xp Outside
Go Out on the Town 24hrs $1,000, 225xp Lotto ‘N’ Liquor

What are YOUR thoughts on Mr. Largo and the Lotto ‘N’ Liquor store?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring a little culture to Springfield Elementary?  Or will the arts program be unfunded in your town?  Where have you placed the store in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. Hi there!

I’m trying to figure out my next premium buy, but I have noticed that the 2013 “should i buy”s are considerably lacking in relation to the other posts, and was wondering if it would be too much to ask if they could be revised? I’m sure it is a lot of work, so I am 100% not demanding, just suggesting/asking. Or at least some of the more coveted premium buys? A few
I looked at left me wanting more information, whereas more recent (2014-15) posts gave me a good idea of whether I will be purchasing, waiting, or passing on. Thanks for your time! (This post is great, not complaining about it, btw).

Also, sorry if this should go somewhere else, I am rather new to this website.

    • What is it exactly you want to know? Just our latest top 10 again? Most mine are the same. We don’t put in limited time as they vary too much and change each event.

Are you just looking for the best “bang for your buck”?

If so, I’d actually suggest put it to your fellow players too. Open thread on Sundays is a great start. Toss it out there and see what others found as their top 10 too. You’ll get lots of great feedback. We got a great community here. 😉

  2. You never did a turbo tappin on Largo and I can’t seem to unlock the 8 hour and 24 hour quests and I’ve had largo since the day level 40 hit, and I have had all my townies free just in case he requires them but nothing happend.. Did I miss somthing?

    • It is coming soon. Keep your eye on the blog. 😉

There are a few key characters he will need. Lisa, Homer, Bart, Marge, Smithers, Burns, and Milhouse. The two main ones used are Largo and Lisa to kick off tasks (Marge just one), but the others are needed for multiple tasks within the questline. Usually you must complete the entire quest to unlock all of that characters task as they unlock as they get used during the dialog.

      • Yup, I was trying to get the other teachers quest done and had sent the invitations out for the largo quest and thought I had finished it, then just after I asked you anout the Largo walk through, I saw Smithers had one quest I skipped that was part of the Largo Quest, somehow it got skipped.
And I did have the 24 hour quest unlocked, I just forgot, happens when you are lacking sleep. 🙂
And I see you posted the Largo walk through today. thank you:)
I try not up to use them, but if it starts to take too long to do a storyline, I use them to see who needs to be freed up to,continue the quest.
        Thank You.

  3. I bought him but i think Luaan was a much better deal for the price considering you get her,the factory, and the chance to buy fleeta pittas. Largo has a good questline though and the lotto and liquor is a nice building i would wait on something else or buy a different permeant item.

If you cannot do it teach it………a music teacher who cannot stand Lisa sax playing tak tsk.

Buy its a building and a character and better still a bargainbooze shop that fits.

  5. OMG!!! If I owned a liquor store, I’d be dead in three days…it’d take that long to try a shot of everything!!! 😉

  6. Maybe another con could be he doesn’t have a 12 hrs. task, making him the first character without it.

    • not having a 12 hour task is what I dislike most about Suzanne the witch and the only thing good about Manjula otherwise all but one if her other task require apu or the octuples. thankfully jub-jubs task is 12 hours.

  7. Have to admit I bought him straightaway. One thing a little disappointed about was that there was no 12 or 16 hr task. The number of characters in my (and anybody’s town who has played for a while) is getting larger and larger and now I find I just send them on the longer tasks as I don’t want to keep tapping and resetting tasks. Although I will admit that I just send Hank on his 8hr task a lot – one of the best in the game!

  8. IMHO, in comparison with Louann, Brandine or Manjula, rather a secondary character one can do without.
