MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU

Happy Star Wars Day everybody!

It’s officially May the 4th on the east coast of the US so I figured I’d pop in just to wish my favorite readers my best on this momentous of holidays.

May the 4th

For any of you thinking what the heck is Star Wars and what does this have to do with a site about TSTO…  Well, my blog handle is The Wookiee and it is Star Wars Day so I’ll just beg your tolerance.  For any one who actually hasn’t seen SW (like that hack Matt Lauer), here’s a great little recap of Episodes IV thru VI (my fellow geeks know I want to type ANH, ESB and ROTJ).  Even better to make it semi-topical, it was done in LEGOs.

I love that it’s narrated by a kid and described so simply.  Recently, I was made privy to an Imperial propaganda video trying to bring down Star Wars Day.  I don’t endorse the views made in this video but in an effort to be fair and balanced, here it is.

All I’ll say is that they can either share our holiday or get their own.  Any questions can be addressed to the “Let the Wookiee win” department.

Revenge of the 5th

Lots of fun to be had today.  If you like Star Wars, pop in your favorite episode. Also must be said that there are deals today on not only Simpsons LEGOs but also of the SW variety too.  Add to that the Simpsons LEGO Spectacular tonight on FOX at 8 pm and it’s just one of those days that makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.  About time my insides matched my outsides lol.

So much fun to be had.  One thing is for sure, it’s the weekend and should be enjoyed.  We all deserve it.  No one wants to be like this guy and live in regrets.

I’m off to enjoy the day.  If you want a little info on The Simpsons and Star Wars, you can check out this post I wrote when I was a newbie blogger.  Y’all stay classy as usual.  TTFN… Wookiee Out!  GO REBELS!

  1. Remember that episode of the simpsons where Mark Hamill made a cameo? And that time where Lisa was trying on different hairstyles and had buns like princess Lea? Fun times 😛

    • Both are great. The Leia hairstyle was Lisa the Beauty Queen. Mark Hamill’s appearance is by far one of my favorite guest stars. Luke be a Jedi tonight…. EPIC

  2. Everyone should post there favorite line from Star Wars

    • “You just watch yourself. We’re wanted men. I have the death sentence on 12 systems.”
      “I’ll be careful.”
      “You’ll be dead!”

“Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

“A Jedi Knight? Jeez, I’m out of it for a little while, everyone gets delusions of grandeur!”

“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.” (probably my favorite becasue it mirrors one of Indiana Jones’ quotes)

    • “These aren’t the droids you are looking for” would be my #1, very very closely followed by “Do or do not, there is no try”. Awww, heck they could probably be switched, I love Yoda’s philosophy and think that phrase is definitely words to live by.

  3. Meeeesssaa like that

    Execute order 66… 🙂

  7. Matt Lauer has seriously never seen Star Wars?!? Not even one movie?

  8. Hmmm, getting ready for work, wonder if I could sport Princess Leia’s hair? LOL

  9. I just can’t believe that no channel is doing a star wars marathon today 🙁

  10. Great Thread Wookiee! My daughter was born 2 days before it was released, but you can bet I was first in line LOL! Went to an awesome theatre that had advanced technology for that time, and I still get giddy when I watch an episode & the beginning dialog comes up on the screen. I remember it coming over my head (well it felt that way), and the swish of the fighters 🙂 After work today I think I’ll hunker down in my room & watch every one 😀

    • No you won’t… 😉 …lol…how you doing? I remember seeing StarWars at the theater…was a special year for me…became a “man”…lol…didn’t think it “took” so I had to try again…lol… ;)…now what was her name…???
Hope you are doing fine!!! 🙂

      • You were right Freak, I didn’t. I had too much fun last night & ended up with only 3 hrs. sleep, so when I got home I crashed hard (it was soooo worth it tho’)

LOL@ “became a man”… always wondered why they called it that, it seems to me it usually takes another 30 yrs. for that to happen 😉

        I am doing fantabulous 🙂
I hope you’re getting on a little better after last week with mom & pops.

  11. So how did LucasFilms finagle a “Star Wars Day” to sell more stuff??
    DISCLAIMER !!!
The first three films were great.
The rest were below tripe level.

JugHead Binks was the worst side kick ever in a movie.

While I gladly celebrate this day with at least watching one of the movies, I share a similar attitude…however, I give Mr. Lucas much respect for trying to please a broader audience with the later flicks…there will be StarWars debates for many many years!!! 🙂

  12. … 🙂 …Amazon FREE APP OF THE DAY…AngryBirds StarWarsII …happy George Day… 🙂

  13. Can’tt…. move… Arms… Been playing new Star Wars pinball tables from Zen for four days between zappin’ bunnies… What glorious pain!

  14. What was first? ‘Star Wars Day’ or that incredibly bad translation mistake of a German translator? Because in 2005, when one of the movies was released, Lukas was asked to say the most important sentence on a broadcasted press-conference. He did so and the German translator translated it into sth like: ‘May the fourth [we’ll] be with you!’ (of course in German 😉 ) So, since when is there something like Star Wars Day? Before or after that? Is it possible that it is the result of that translator’s mistake?

    • The two probably don’t have anything to do with each other. I do know on May 4th, 1979 when Margaret Thatcher took office as Prime Minister a paper had an article saying “May the 4th be with you Maggie”. I first heard of the celebration a while ago. Internet says first organized one was in Canada in 2011.

    • Thought it was by a guy with a lisp.

  15. A good day for traveling, althoughu not intergalactic. Just intercontinental and international 🙂
