Should I Spend Donuts on Chester Dupree & the Unfinished Shed?

Level 41 has arrived in Springfield!  And with it Dr. Hibbert’s family gets a little bit bigger, with the introduction of his brother in-law Chester Dupree!  Now I know you may be trying to decide of this lazy character and his unfinished shed are worth YOUR donuts, but have no fear!  That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Chester to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this lazy guy to YOUR Springfield!

Chesterdupree work on shed unfinishedshed_menu

Building/Decoration: Unfinished Shed
Character: Chester Dupree
Donut Price: 150 donuts
Dimensions: 3×3
Bonus:
2.25% on all Cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Indolence +10

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-A sweet bonus on all cash and XP (2.25%)
-A unique character to TSTO, as he’s only been mentioned in the Simpsons and not seen.
-Shed will be used, as Chester has a permanent outdoor task that uses the shed.
-Gives a purpose for the Blood Mobile

Cons:
-Pricey.  150 donuts is on par with other character/building combos and certainly not the highest (Disco Stu and Duffman are among those that are higher), but still 150 donuts is a high price to pay for a character no one really knows & a shed that’s not even complete.
-Questline very heavily involves Dr. Hibbert.  One that can be difficult to run simultaneously with Level 41
-A character unseen in The Simpsons, so no real connection to him
-Not voiced.
-Have to purchase a Blood Mobile to complete questline.  Which is pricey if you’re a lower level tapper.
-While the shed gives a nice 2.25% bonus, it does not earn any cash or XP…so it’s basically another decoration for your town.

Final Thought:
Personally, if you have the donuts to spend, I say go for it. As a TSTO fan AND a Simpsons fan how could you pass on this unique character?  I think it’s really cool whenever Tappers are given a first look at a character that’s not yet on the show (like Kumiko).
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you Chester was a purchase I made right away, and he’s been ignoring Dr. Hibbert ever since! However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Chester will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

  1. This is available for 110 donuts in the Vault. Is it worthwhile or just a “get it if you want it” item?

    • Anytime you can get a character combo for 100-110 donuts, it’s a good deal. But he’s a throwaway character….not really any use in Springfield. Which makes it a “if you want it” item. (he’s barely in the show. Actually, he’s not in the show. Just mentioned)

Chester has a new 1hr solo task: “Take a Nap”
Visual tasks are 4hrs and 8hrs.

  3. What would make this building/character combo more desirable is if you can send Chester to help finish the shed (already one of his tasks) and after doing This so many times, it will upgrade. After upgrading so many times, you will get……a finished SHED. This could unlock a few tasks for Dr hibert and Berenice and Chester. Thought on this?

  4. This may be a silly question, but under “requires” for tasks, does that just refer to people? Or buildings too? If so, does this mean most tasks are outdoors?

    • I usually only put the character for requires…not always the building, since usually you’ll have the required building. (building is usually under location)

  5. I thought it was interesting that they took a storyline just mentioned on the show and expanded it in the game. I actually enjoyed playing it. I just wish his entitled tizzy was a longer task.

Just noticed more foreshadowing in my B game while sending everyone to jail. Dr. Hibbert says that he was paying Chester to finish his shed!

  7. Mike ( not S )

I used the shack next to my guinea pig sanctuary to look like they are adding on. So many unwanted guinea pigs 🙁

  8. I like that it seems like EA is putting a lot of thought into fun quest lines for premium characters (some of the earlier ones seemed to have perfunctory lines or only 2-3 things to do before they quested out). It has a fun quest line so far, and I actually like that it pulls Dr. Hibbert in several directions–he’s alternating between his wife and his layabout just like life. That Blood Mobile is expensive for a decoration that doesn’t generate income, but I still like it–right in the grocery store parking lot, as it should be 😉

  9. The fact he’s not an actual TV character yet is what makes this cool. And its a man shed so what’s not to like.

  10. Fortunately, I was able to purchase both Chester and the Bloodmobile. I personally like the fact that the shed has a bonus % to $ and XPs, as it means extra spondoolies and XPs on all jobs and tapped buildings. I hope EA plan to do more of this in the future.

  11. Why would I want a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rip off character and 1/2 a shed for 150 donuts? lol XD

  12. Todd McConnel

Don’t buy it. Hold out for actual Simpsons characters.

  13. Great purchase. I’ve been alternating between his quest and level 41. Great outdoor quests and I love having nearly all my characters doing the same job at the same time so I loved the bloodbath quest. (I typed blood bank but autocorrect was feeling morbid)

  14. Thoughts? You know I have way too many LOL. I bought him & the shed, I love it!

  15. I’ll be honest the fact that you can’t complete the shed would bug me, not that I’m OCD or anything. An I’d rather have another cash generator (so many kang/Kodos, love heart lakes etc)
Overall a nice idea to give us the first look at a character again.
