Real Housewives of Springfield: Bernice Hibbert

Hey there Addicts. In this little game of ours, we tend to forget those characters that are few and far between. We get so involved in the game, so into the latest events…that we sometimes forget to pay attention to the little things. The little details that make the Springfield world go around. The thing that seems to be really lacking/missing from Springfield.

What exactly is it I am going on about? What is so terribly important to the game that would draw such attention. WOMEN OF COURSE! To be a bit more specific, The Real Housewives of Springfield (and maybe a mistress or 3. Gotta have the drama aspect in any series, right?).

So keep your eyes on our blog as we take you on a new journey into the lives of each of the women currently and NOT currently available in the game.

How do you talk about a character who hardly ever talks? Well, let’s see what I can do. In this edition I am going to be diving into the life of Bernice Hibbert. (It is hinted her name was Sylvia in earlier episodes.)

Bernice Hibbert TV Image

This is a sassy spitfire of a woman who always seems to be angry at her husband, Dr. Hibbert, for one thing or another. So where and when exactly to we meet her? Let’s look at the Simpsons Episodes.

Season 2, Episode 16: Barts Dog Gets an F
The first time we get a glance at Bernice is when Marge contacts Dr. Hibbert at home to see what he can do about Lisa’s mumps. The family can be seen sitting at the dinner table. Bernice, Julius, and 3 of their 5 unnamed children. An older girl, an older boy, and a younger girl. The only one that speaks is Dr. Hibbert.

Bernice HIbbert

So we can see what looks to be a pretty run of the mill normal family setting. But it seems that Bernice is more of the “seen and not heard type” as she has MANY appearances that just pop up here and there without her saying a word.

Season 2, Episode 20: The War of the Simpsons
We only get quick glimpses of Bernice next to Hibbert or in the background at Simpsons neighborhood party. She does not look very amused at all the commotion going on during the party thanks to Homer.

Season 6, Episode 13: And Maggie Makes Three
Another few brief appearance at the Baby Shower for Maggie

Season 6, Episode 14: Barts Comet
She is crammed into Flander’s Bomb Shelter, with what seems like the entire town, while they wait for the Comet to hit. (Even Waldo somehow got in there too. Lol.)

Season 6, Episode 23: The Springfield Connection
She is seen sitting with Dr. Hibbert on the lawn at the Amphitheater inside Jebediah Springfield Park listening to some cool Star Wars music played by the Springfield Pops.

Season 7, Episode 5: Lisa the Vegetarian
We only see her shortly with Dr. Hibbert at Homer’s BBQ.

Bernice head

So with all the times she is in the Simpsons Series, do we ever actually get to hear a voice come out of her mouth? Well, there are some episodes we do get to catch a small line or three from her.

Season 8, Episode 5: Bart After Dark
This is one of the first times we actually hear a voice from Bernice in an episode…funny thing, it is to yell at Dr. Hibbert for getting caught visiting the La Maison Derriere (thanks to Marge’s photo display at the Town Hall).

Bernice HIbbert 2

Season 10, Episode 14: I’m with Cupid
After Apu upsets Manjula, he tries to make it up to her with 7 days of Valentine’s gifts. This causes issues with the other wives as jealousy runs wild with them. As Homer messes up the skywriting for Manjula, we see Bernice gardening. She exclaims that just once, she would like a love note in the sky. Then she laughs just like Hibbert.

Season 21, Episode 3: Great Wife Hope
We can see her enjoying some fun with Luann, Edna, Marge, and Sarah at the Bowlerama going “Crazy Bowling”. She is even dressed up in a straight jacket. (I guess the crazy does seem fitting for her. Lol.) We even get to hear her laughing in this episode. Very similar to her Husband’s laugh too. Marge wonders where all the men went. She actually has a few lines this episode as she explains where she thinks they went.

Bernice Hibbert 7

We know she is a wife and Mother, but of how many kids exactly because that does seem to vary a lot throughout the series.

Season 7, Episode 4: Bart Sells His Soul
Here we see her briefly in the church with Dr. Hibbert, a young boy, and young girl. Later the family is looking for somewhere to eat and ends up at Moe’s. We catch a few shots of Bernice, Dr. Hibbert, their two boys, and their youngest daughter.

Bernice HIbbert 1

Season 9, Episode 10: Miracle on Evergreen Terrace
The Hibberts drive past the Simpsons on Christmas Day, riding snowmobiles. You can see Dr. Hibbert, Bernice, and the 2nd son & daughter each on one.

Season 14, Episode 22: Moe Baby Blues
After the stench of the Sumatran Flower dispersed, everyone ran to their vehicles to get away. This caused a massive traffic jam on the freeway. The Hibbert’s have a TV in their van, so everyone gathers around to watch too. Dr. Hibbert, Bernice, the 2nd son and daughter can be seen.

Season 15, Episode 5: The Fat & the Furriest
As Homer is wandering the forest with his new found Bear buddy, we see the Hibbert family gathered around their campsite for a meal. Dr. Hibbert, Bernice, their two sons, and the youngest daughter.

Bernice Hibbert 6

So that makes 2 boys and 2 girls. Sheesh. But I never really remember seeing the oldest daughter again in anymore episodes. Do you? Makes you wonder, is that all the children they have? Nope. There is a baby too if you believe it.

Season 12, Episode 16: Bye Bye Nerdie
This is one of the only times we see that the Hibberts have a lil baby. Homer is filling their pool with Jell-O while he is trying to run his “Wee Care” baby proofing business. The lil tike falls in, but the Jell-O bounces him right back out again.

Bernice Hibbert 4

Five children total in the Hibbert family? Oddly, they are all unnamed to this day. Very interesting indeed.

Bernice fall of wagon 1

What about Bernice’s social life. We see her here and there at parties and hanging out with Marge and the other wives, but what else? There are some hints that she may be a bit of a lush. Enjoying the drink almost as much as Homer does (if not more).

Season 4, Episode 16: Duffless
Homer is sent to Traffic School and Alchonon Meetings due to he was caught DWI after leaving a tour off the Duff Brewery. At one of the Traffic School classes on DWI, we can see Bernice in the room too watching the horrific films of crashes from DWI. How many DWI’s has she got to put her there? Is this a constant occurence?

Season 8, Episode 18: Homer vs the Eighteenth Amendment
In this episode she is seen with Dr. Hibbert in the crowd at the St. Patricks Day Parade. When beer is shot into the crowd, it is unintentionally funneled into Bart’s mouth. This creates a mass flip out of those “churchies” in town and prohibition is put into full effect. Everyone around town reads the news. Those that love their liquor pass out after reading the news. Moe, Homer, and that includes Bernice too.

Bernice Hibbert 3

Maybe it is her way to deal with her coming and going kids. Or Dr. Hibbert’s work practice as he seems to constantly be working (like most doctors do.) Maybe it is to get away from the drama of her marriage all together.

Hibbert argue with Bernice Bernice Argue 1

Speaking of marriage drama, what about her relationship with Dr. Hibbert? It was hinted he did cheat on her with Luann during a key party. We did see in the first episode we heard her voice in that Dr. Hibbert does seem to enjoy the company of “professional women”. Lol. Are there some other signs of their marriage on hard times?

Season 14, Episode 18: Dude, Where’s My Ranch?
The Simpson’s are at a Dude Ranch with many other Springfieldians.  Dr. Hibbert and Bernice are seen taking silly shots as Betty Boop and Rambo. Dr. Hibbert makes the comment, “…and this is supposed to save our marriage?” It does hint that there are some marital issues going on with them.

Overall, it does seem like a standard relationship with its ups and downs. As far as the Episodes go, she seems to be one of those quieted wives (like Sarah Wiggum). We see them a lot all throughout the Episodes, but never really dive in too deep with their stories. Maybe in the future? We might even eventually learn the names of all her kids…and if she still has all those kids. Lol

Now for her character in our silly lil game. Thanks to Level 41 and the Vulgari store, we have yet another wife to add to our growing list of characters with some tasks that point out just what kind of person she is.

Bernice’s Tasks:

Task Task Length Payout Location
Attend an AA Meeting 1 hr $70/ 17XP First Church of Springfield
Pick On Marge (w/Marge) 4 hr $350/ 90XP Simpson Home

  1. Tapped out life

She also appears in S12 E7. She gives Bart money to get home after Homer leaves him at the Squidport.

  2. I would really like to see Ms.Muntz. I hope she shows up soon

  3. Just throwing it out there: the proper name for a person who lives in Springfield is a Springfieldianite.

I noticed that when you visit a neighbor and do just 1 action, the counter starts even if you can’t see the “Come back in x” message. You can visit every neighbor and tap just one house and then come back and finish tapping and it will say something like “Come back in 23h 40m” (I spend 20 min visiting all my neighbors by tapping JUST 1 time so the counter starts as fast as possible and then I come back to finish tapping). So, I just figured that in theory (I have to wait to put it in practice) you could visit a neighbor, tap the Stonecutter Lodge and then visit the next neighbor and do the same, so you spend the 60 first actions by tapping the Lodge which gives you 5 emblems (instead of 1). Then you come back to finish the normal tapping. Depending on the number of neighbors and the frecuency in which they “clear” their lodges, you could in theory get 300 emblems a day, instead of just 60. Maybe I’m wrong or maybe I don’t know something else, but I thought it was worth telling you this so you try it and then tell me if it worked.

    • I am giggling you commented information about neighbor Emblem tapping on a post about Bernice. Lol

You are correct. We have mentioned this several times before throughout events and regular game play…once you make that first initial tap in your neighbors town…the clock starts counting down. You then have the 24 hour window to travel back to their town and make all 3 taps. It is why we suggest going back later if there is nothing to tap the first go round (don’t forget KL works too this event.)

Just be observant of the time though. The 24 clock that resets your 60 tap max is set from the very first neighbor you tap on. (So if you tap on neighbor A right away, but wait to tap on neighbor B 4 hours later…the clocks won’t match up timewise…but the overall 24 clock is already on its way due to neighbor A starting it.) This is why I suggest to pick ONE neighbor to act as your “clock”. Let ALL your towns zero out and reset back to 3/3. Then, pick just one town to start the overall 24 hour clock and always use that one to give you an idea of how much time you have left til the 60 taps reset. This is also great as you can make the restart time fit YOUR schedule. Once they zero out…it won’t start the 24 hour clock until you tap that first town you choose. So if you want it to happen at 5 pm each day…let them reset to 3/3 on ALL towns…then at 5pm…tap the first town.

Sorry, I know this post is about Bernice, but I thought if I commented here it would be more likely for others to see my comment and reply. I just wanted to know if it would work and if I would get more than 60 emblems by this method. :S

I also figured out that strategy, to wait for all the towns to reset and then start tapping. 😀

Thanks for replying and at least I made you giggle XD

        • No worries at all. I just know as I see things from this end that people go to a specific post for answers. So I was worried that people won’t see it as they won’t look at the Bernice post for an answer on Emblems. (If that makes sense.) It is similar to we try and direct friend requests to the friend request only pages…so they won’t get lost in regular commenting.

The method does work to get more Emblems. That is true. (I mentioned it in my Math post.) But, it only works if you have neighbors just as active as you clearing those Lodge taps as fast as they are tapped. That is 100+ people all trying for one spot in a neighbors town. Not to mention if they go out and try to come right back and tap it again after their neighbor clears it. Then that is people trying 300 times to tap on one building. A lot more work then just finding another building to spy and moving on to the next town. Lol. 😉

  5. Will u please run down who is who I am having trouble with that please help

  6. CapCityGoofball

I like how she looks like she’s yelling at random people before Dr. Hibbert shows up for the argument. He also generates a laugh while he’s on the way to the fight, flailing about at anyone in his way!

  7. I want to second the comment about Bernice’s tasks being out of order. Hopefully that’s something they can fix with a small patch or next update. Overall, I wish they had more women in the game, although they’ve added several in the last few months. How about the Babysitter Bandit? Or Reverend Lovejoy’s wife and daughter?

  8. I can’t say I dislike n e of the Simpsons characters but I would have to say my favorite house wife would have to b marge my favorite episode w her would have to be the shinning from one of the tree house of horrors

    • Although that episodes was more about homer going crazy she played a vital role in the episode along w the kids and Willie

  9. It drives me crazy that her 6 hr task is listed before the 60 minute task. I couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve been flying thru starting everyone on tasks and accidentally sent her on the 6 hr task by mistake.

    • Because not everyone got the Banana Dictatorship. So for those that did not…it’s locked up. For those that do, it’s set aside as a special task as a special building is required. So, a task all on its own so to speak.

The rest all require standard buildings that come with regular game play.

      • I do this all the time too. I think special tasks requiring buildings should be in the correct order (by time) but greyed out for those who don’t have it – or all at the bottom. It’s very annoying!

  10. I like that her 8 hr task is an outdoor one, its one of my favorites. 🙂 i was wondering, i have the banana dictatorship, and she has a 6hr task there, and for some reason, it puts that task out of order with the rest of them; above the 1hr task, do you know why it’s doing that?

    • Yeah… that being out of order makes my head hurt. No idea why it’s doing it but as long as it doesn’t hurt anything, I just deal with it.

I like her, she is funny. I’m with you on the argue task, it’s the best, but I always have a hard time synching up when it requires 2 characters. I usually go with “Fall off the wagon”, since I love outdoor tasks 🙂
