Should I Spend Donuts on Lampwick & The Rocket Car?

Level 42 has arrived in Springfield!  And with it comes a fan favorite Lampwick & the Rocket Car, a really awesome decoration for your Springfield!  Now I know you may be trying to decide of this former bum and his Rocket Car are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Lampwick to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this artistic genius to YOUR Springfield!

                      Chester Lampwick 2 Rocket Car

Building/Decoration: Rocket Car
Character: Lampwick
Donut Price: 120 donuts
Dimensions: 8×3
Bonus:
2.00% on all Cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +1200

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-A sweet bonus on all cash and XP (2%)
-Comes with a Rocket Car, has a great animation with flames when tapped!
-Earn 6 donuts back when you complete the Questline

Cons:
-Pricey.  120 (really 114) donuts isn’t the highest item/character combo, but it’s up there.
-Not voiced.
-While the Rocket Car gives a nice 2.00% bonus, it does not earn any cash or XP…so it’s basically another decoration for your town.

Final Thought:
Personally, if you have the donuts to spend, I say go for it.  This combo (in my opinion) is AWESOME.  I love Lampwick’s questline & his tasks…plus the Rocket Car is frakkin sweet!  It’s also great that you’ll get 6 donuts back once you complete the questline, bringing the cost down to 114 donuts.  Not to shabby.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you Lampwick was a purchase I made right away!  However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Lampwick will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

Lampwicks’s Permanent Tasks:

Chester Lampwick 3        Chester Lampwick sleep     Chester Lampwick 2

Task Time Earns Location
Collect Food Stamps 1hr $105, 26xp Town Hall
Annoy Staff and Patrons 2hrs $175, 40xp Krusty Burger

  1. I can not wait to get this but I only have about 650 doughnuts and think I’ll need them to catch up on Stonecutters so hope I can get it before it disappears. Esp seeing how I just bought the gold mansion

    • lol yes limited time will disappear…lampwick will still be there next week 🙂

      • BTW I think I can get everything but the table and the anvil for free. I’m expecting to buy doughnuts to secure them but that’s ok. However I know the event ends on Wed but I don’t get paid till Fri. From yr experience do you think I could just not update for two days then buy the doughnuts necessary? Or should I listen to Lisa about the importance of fiscal management?

        • Issue is we never know when it will “force” the update on you. Up to you if you wanna risk it. Could be 2 hrs. Could be 48 hrs.

  2. I got him and I’m glad I did. The questline is great – I love this character! I tend to base my decisions more on whether it’s a character or item that I really like in the show and want to see in my town rather than whether it’s a good investment, but it is still nice to see the pros and cons to confirm my decision.

Free donuts in the questline is always a nice surprise! First Bernice gave me 1, then Lampwick gave me 6… if this is a new trend I’ll be happy. 😀

  3. Tempting… I’ll wait for now to see what’s behind door #3.

  4. Still saving for Barney. Damn that makes it hard.
    I’m at 150

  5. Gah! This post was very informative, detailed and to the point and yet…gah! I have 139 donuts (thank you random friend who OH CRAP must go build KBBL right now!) and am therefore within sight of Luann. I still feel like she’s the better deal for me personally, what with the Kirk premium and the hamster and fleeta-a-pita and…I want Frink too! I will hold strong and not buy donuts, despite all the decent buys of characters that I know and love, as well as others that I vaguely remember and have many bonuses others don’t. Luckily I have time – now, if between now and the end of Stonecutters I acquire enough donuts for both Frink and and his Stonecutter’s skin, it might complicate things even more, but I don’t think that will happen. GAH!

  6. Really torn on this one. I have been saving up for either Barney or Scorpio (haven’t decided yet), but this one is so tempting. I know that I will most likely only ever get one premium item and I need to get the best one. I hate decisions.

    • If you have the Plow King Skin, I’d go with Barney.

OK pureval, say the Addicts pledge again. It’s ok, you’re among other Addicts 😉

You’ll buy just one…then you’ll have another you just have to have… then by the 4th time, Fuggeddaboudit
      LOL 😉

Yes, I bought him…and I’m loving the character. It is a great parallel story to the rest of Level 42, so I would recommend buying it at the same time as you build the Itchy and Scratchy Studios.

As for the bonus decoration vs. a building that directly generates money…no contest. One rocket car at 2% means that for every 50 buildings I have in my Springfield, I get the equivalent money and XP of one more building.
Passive income, it works all the time, without me expending direct effort.
The Liquor and Lotto at 150 Donuts generates $103/11xp every 3 hrs. Maximum potential of $824/88xp daily. If I don’t tap it, it doesn’t generate anything.
The Unfinished Shed also 150 donuts, generates 2.25% extra $/XP on everything that happens in Springfield. If I finish a 24 hr job with a non-premium character. That’s an extra $14/4XP. Premium Characters $23/5XP. Like most players at Level 42, I have over 90 characters. Even at the non-premium 24 hour rate that means $1215/303XP daily….just off the characters. Then I have roughly 200 buildings to add to that.

If you are still looking to complete your consumerism or gluttony rating, then it would be a disappointment, but that is generally less of an issue for premium players who might be considering this purchase. If you need that, there are cheaper options.

Great storyline, takes less space, looks cool, one less thing to tap, generates money on every transaction. Win-Win-Win-Win-Win.

    • Agreed. This combo is a solid investment for any player. And especially for those of us in upper levels with a plethora of buildings and no extra land, this kind of combination is definitely appreciated.

  8. Glad I got him! Now, bring on Little Vicki. Tappa. Tappa.

I love how you list the pros & cons, and whether or not the item is limited. I always look at the bonus percentage. With the limit on space, it enables you to decide which items you can store & which are more beneficial to put into the design of your town. I will probably buy this one later down the line. I **still** want my precious little pretty Barney LOL

  10. What ever happened to the explosion bottom to store all of your items houses etc

  11. I got him today. He’s cute, nicely animated 🙂

i was wondering if u guys know of a glitch where hippy lisas costume disappears because i just unlocked it but its missing .. ? thanks in advance!!

  13. JamesBrewski69

    Not interested

  14. Without a solid gold house to go with it I don’t see the point

  15. As a Level 42 player I have so many building and characters to tap on I see this being a decoration as a positive not a negative. With the 2% bonus I get more money &XP than I would without it, without the extra tap.

At least that’s what I thought. I have a history of missing the point of stuff like this 🙂

    • lol me too 😉

I’m a fan of the bonus earning decorations, but some people really love their buildings! So it’s really one of those that could go either way.
