From the Mouths of Addicts: A Conversation with Weeksy2

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Welcome to another edition of From the Mouths of Addicts, where YOU get to sound off on anything and everything in the world of Tapped Out!  This week’s post is all about our Tapper of the Month for June Weeksy2!

Back on June 2nd we announced the TSTO Communities of Topix, Addicts & game voted Weeksy2 as the Tappers of the Month during our monthly Shout Out!  As part of the Tapper of the Month we interviewed Weeksy2 to get a better feel for why he created his Springfields the way he did and some advice he might have for other Tappers when it comes to design.

So without further ado let’s see what he had to say!

The basics:

Origin ID: Weeksy2
A little more about Weeksy2:
Hi my name is Adam and my user ID is weeksy2 I’m a 33 year old from Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. I started playing TSTO in the Halloween episode last year and have been addicted ever since.  I spent most of my time just playing solo so built my town slowly, but recently went from no friends to 75 over night.  I am now just waiting for the updates and new episodes so recently went through a full rebuild.  Hope you like it as I’ve spent countless days on it and am really pleased with the end result, except I’ve now been warned about 4500 items.  So please consider me for tapper of the month as this game has taken over my life haha.  I love the forum and appreciate all the help and info you guys throw out to us, keep up the good work.

Q & A With Weeksy2:

Addicts: What are your favorite decorations to use and why?

Weeksy2: I know it’s boring but by far the most useful decorations are the large and small bushes and the brick walls.  They are the best things for any 3D designs or text that you want to add or even just the final touches on a area that doesn’t look quite right.  I haven’t done tonnes of 3D designs in my town but the ones I have all use the bushes and it doesn’t always work but some times they just look great.

A: How long did it take you to decide how to design your town?

W: My design has had two major builds, the original one as I went and slowly won everything and then once I was waiting for updates and content I did a full redesign. The second took probably four or five days to get the main bulk down, which included a weekend sitting on the couch dragging and tapping and not much else.

A: What was your inspiration for your design?

W: My inspiration was seeing previous full town shots that had been on your forums. Just seeing what some of the greats had managed to do with their crazy little towns.  Straight from the start it had to be laid out neatly ( no random buildings just pushed up together ) and have some organisation with every building having its own piece of land to call its own.  I wasn’t interested in house farming as it isn’t very nice to look at and the closest I came was a group of eight or ten brown houses laid out in a fenced complex of cheap housing.

A: What brought you to our silly lil site?

W:  I originally found your site when looking for layout ideas.  I kept finding photos on the net that kept leading me back to your site.  Needless to say I spent plenty of time after that getting to know the site and going trough a lot of old posts.  It was great because I was way behind as I only started in the Halloween event last year it meant I could go back and find all the previous walkthroughs and info.

A: What keeps you sticking around our silly lil site?

W: Info info info, the amount of information tips and tricks that you guys give us is incredible.  I have all your posts show up on my Facebook page and before I even know there is a new update you guys already have a walkthrough.  It’s also great having somewhere other than EA to go when you have glitches and problems. Sometimes it’s just good to know that it’s a common glitch and your not the only one experiencing it.  Also the help / questions section of your site is a quick and easy way of asking those questions that might seem a bit silly to send to EA and they get answered a hell of a lot quicker haha.

A: What do you like best about each Addicts Team Member (Alissa, Bunny, Wookiee)?

W: What can I say you guys do an awesome job and make the Simpsons tapped out a lot more enjoyable and easy to play.  I can’t thank you guys enough for running such a great site and competition especially Alissa who I’ve been dealing with for the comp.  I’ve had help from all of you on different occasions and answers are always dealt with quickly even if my questions you’ve seen a million and one times. So best thing is about Alissa is she sent me money to buy donuts hmmmm donuts and for being my new neighboureno. Bunny got me through some times when my Simpsons really didn’t want to be tapped and now for Wookie.  I always love seeing a post from Wookie cause you don’t know what your going to get, sometimes it might be purely to give you useful info other times it’s just pure fun.  Thanks again for all your hard work and time.

A: What will buy with your donuts?

W: I was saving up to buy the duff brewery, but I’ve just bought that last week. So I’m thinking it’s between Otto and the school bus or spending a bit extra and going for Barney and the bowlarama.

A: What made you decide to enter into the Shout Out competition?

W: I decided to enter because I spend a heap of time looking at your forums and enjoy looking at everyones deigns. So I thought why not share mine, I’m proud of it so maybe other people will like a look.  At that stage I wasn’t expecting to win but thought why not give it a go. So to see the post that I won was a awesome surprise and was even more surprised to see I’d won with 65% of the votes. So thank you to everyone who voted for me and all the new neighbours.

A: What suggestions would you give to other TSTO Addicts of how to manage/design their towns?

W:  I suggest that you have an idea of how your going to want your final town roughly looking. Plan ahead and have areas for houses, town square, industry, shops etc roughly together.  Of course they’ll grow with any redesigns but at least if their together you can move things around easier and still get an overall view.  Also I’ve recently realised that there are limits to the size of your town and amount of decorations.  So sadly I’ve been thinning some decorations down and redesigning some other areas.  The main thing is it’s your town, do with it what you want and try and think outside the box and have some fun.

A: What is your Favorite in game Character? Building? Decoration? …and why?

W: My favourite decoration is the duff blimp, what can I say it’s the duff blimp!!! So I built it a little 3D raised refuelling station off the side of my Springfield park. My favourite character would have to be homer, again what can I say its homer!!! He generally has the most stuff to do and is involved in heaps of quests and also he wins me donuts when he cleans up. My favourite building is the dog track, I’ve built some stadium seating for it and it’s one of my favourite layouts, and it’s always good to win some money too of course.  I always play the highest odd as it’s always good to win the $200,000 occasionally.

I’d just like to thank everyone for taking the time and effort to have a look at all the finalists towns and casting your votes. I’m very pleased to be the tapper of the month and encourage everyone to enter, what have you got lose.

Happy Tapping

  1. Awesome that you won! I always enjoy my visits to your Springfield

  2. Weeksy… You have just one of the best towns I have EVER seen on Tapped Out!! The 3D designs are Fantastic and I especially love you’re Prison and Springfield Downs!!! 😀
And could I ask, how do you get such a pristine pano of you’re town!! It is amazing!! 🙂

    • Thanks so much, great feedback from another well known addict. Yeah I like the springfield downs, it’s one of my favourites. My pano is sadly a result of far too many hours on Photoshop ( which I had never used before and probably why it took so long) but I’m happy with the result. Not looking forward to doing the next one, which I’ve been considering seem so much has changed since this picture.

  3. Congrats again, a really great town! I am somewhat dreading a full re-design. Tried it in my B-town, didn’t come out quite like I wanted. And i do like some parts of my A-town a lot (others not so much). I guess I am afraid, I won’t be able to recreate the parts I like, and end up with a complete shambles… Plus, the latest too-many-decorations message said something like 5800 – putting everything in storage seems like waaaay to much work 😉

    • Thank you. Yeah a 5800 item rebuild seems a little scary and would take up a lot of time and I’m guessing by the time you finished it would be well past the 5800.
      Thanks

  4. I’m liking the new feature. It’s nice to hear from the players and the Addicts community, especially when the person is one of your neighboreenos!

I was contemplating entering the July tapper of the month, and then Stonecutters landed, then level 42, then KBBL radio! So much to design and re-design with all the new stuff.

I’m too much of a perfectionist to enter my town if I don’t feel it’s “finished”.

    • We’re loving it too! We like hearing what you guys have to say, and learning about what you design the way you do! 🙂

    • Thanks neighbor. I think you should enter floozy_bot, you’ve got a great town and it’s one of my favourite to visit. You’d have my vote.

  5. I have weeksy2 also on mine I’m trying relay out mine it be long while lol I can add 7 more people first come bases. Lol any word if there be 4th July event? I let you know when it’s full.

  6. Your town is great! Very inspiring. I’ve got a few house farms but I’ve tired to make them look like residential areas! (please excuse my inner ‘city builder’)
I’ve always struggled with space/funds. I’m looking forward to the day I can expand enough to loosen up my spaces and make my town look more like a town!
Thanks for showcasing your springfeild, and congratulations
    Xx

  7. ryan (aussietapper)

Wow, sweet town man, you’ve given me inspiration to finally organise mine. When I look at a pic of your town, I can’t hep but think it looks like one of those colourful brochure park maps you get when you 1st walk into a theme park. Love it.
    aussietapper

    • Hi Ryan. Glad it was an inspiration to you and that’s a huge complement about the brochure, maybe I missed my calling hahaha. Thanks

  8. Love this town, any chance you guys could do a 3d and show how to make the lake under the escalator to nowhere?

    • We’ll put it on the list for the downtime between events 🙂

    • Hi sicardo66, glad you liked my town. The lake/ wall is fairly easy to build. First place your water, then put two layers of fences and put paving under that and finally place your brick walls around the top as a border to hide the jagged edges of the fences.

  9. Thank you for accepting my very recent neighbor invite weeksy, I love your town. Im trying to make it so all my neighbors are daily players not just during the events, and I’m glad you could be one of them. Hopefully when I’m done with the redesign my town is going through it will be a fraction as good as yours. 🙂

  10. I wonder if anyone else is having this problem: over the last few days after I’ve begun Number One assignments, or assigned any tasks really, when I come back to the game, the game has reset to before the most recent tasks. It has proven to be an annoyance because I’m losing out on tokens.

  11. Weeksy2 is a neighboreeno of mine too, and I’ve always loved his town. So happy you won!

  12. So glad you won….really like your town. Also, you’re a great neighbor-eeno……(Did I say everything right, Adam? I read that piece of paper just like you asked me….and when do
    I get the 10 donuts?)…….LOL 😛

  13. Josephine Kick@$$

I really liked your town from the start weeksy, it is so neat and clean, with many cool areas with some great ideas. I’m looking forward to EA getting the glitches worked out on the nuke option, I imagine I’m not the only one who will be using some of your ideas for our redesigned town 🙂

    Congrats again !

    • Hi Josephine thanks for your comment. It’s always nice to hear that others enjoy the work that goes into your town. Hope they fix the nuke button for your rebuild and feel free to use any ideas, hope to see your town featured in a future showoff.
