Well Gil is once again in Springfield..and this time with a golden deal! He’s bringing you a 250 Donut Deal on Lampwick’s Gold Mansion! With many Tappers requesting this Golden Mansion once they saw Lampwick was in the game, it’s nice to see EA listening to Tapper’s request…even if it does come with a hefty price tag.
This deal runs out on July 1st…which means there’s not much time left to decide if you want it in YOUR Springfield. I know with that clock running down, and Gil begging in your Springfield it might be tempting to just buy buy buy! BUT is this item worth your hard earned sprinkles? Before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this bling bling to YOUR Springfield….

Payout: $135, 15xp/ 4hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +2000
Pros:
-Comes with a short questline, with some really funny dialog for Homer, Lisa, Cletus & Brandine.
-Unlocks a special 30m task for Chester.
-Premium building earns more than your standard building in Springfield
-Looks great with the Money Pool from Stonecutters
-Another house/mansion for Springfield
-It looks cool!
Cons:
-EXPENSIVE! 250 donuts is a LOT for a building with out a character
-It can look out of place in your Springfield, depending on your design.
-If you don’t have Lampwick no character (after the initial task) will interact with it.
Final Thought:
Personally, I’m on the fence with this one. I’m a completest and I have the donuts, so I can tell you right now this is something I’ll be buying. HOWEVER, if your donut stash is limited this might be something you’ll want to pass on. It doesn’t bring Lampwick to your Springfield, for that you’ll have to spend another 120 donuts, and it’s HUGE. So if space is limited as well, it might be hard to find a place for it.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do, and admittedly this is one I will pull the trigger on (but I am a completest). Whatever you decide just remember, this is a Limited-time item…so if you’re thinking about it make sure you make your decision before Ol’ Gil skips town again!

Apple cost themselves money when I tried to get this but the glitch in my game wouldn’t allow me to purchase it. I’m a completist or was, and wanted this premium item. I’d get it if it comes back again, but at the same time I’m finally getting a little burnt out from this game. It’s hard to consistently play this game during the holidays, and the elf part of the Christmas update is just annoying to me. I don’t have time anymore to go on and shoot a canon every 2 hrs. Anyway, great game, love the dialogue but if they spaced things out better I’d be happier. I don’t need 10 different quests at once and then a month or two of nothing. Just my grouchy opinion today. The cute Christmas decorations that people got for the mansion recently makes me wish I hadn’t passed this deal up… I’ll definitely not make that mistake again if Gil ever comes to town with this property again! XD

Is there any chance of this mansion coming back? LOL ;; I completely spaced out on getting it because I was too focused trying to get emblems!! I wish they had given us this deal AFTER the event. It’s hard for me to split my focus when I’m trying to spend as little donuts as possible on the remaining prizes. 🙁
Limited items have come back before, but a Gil deal has rarely ever made a come back, I think. 🙁

Hey Alissa and Wookie, just want a quick opinion. I tried to buy more donuts because I’m a completist as well, but I kept getting “contact Apple support” but my account was fine as far as funds go. I still want this item, is there any chance you or anyone else has talked to Apple about something like this? Losing a limited time item because of their problems is frustrating, especially when I’m willing to pay honest money for it and not hack my device. What can I do? It’s frustrating like the “end of season 24 junk” that they offered but I had the same problem at the time. Any thoughts? Thanks and I love this site!
PS. I still want that Mayan from Halloween 2012 and the “black hole” EA should offer these things if people want to buy them IMO, what do they have to lose.
Could be a “parental lock” or “spending limit” on the account. It’s really in your best interest to find out if Apple has something in place.
Hi! Thank you for the quick reply. I am an adult with my own account, it gave me a declined message so I switched to another one with more than enough for a few boatloads of donuts but it still wasn’t working after 3 days….any advice on how to get these lost items? I just don’t see the ‘limited time’ point if you’re spending real money. I was getting tired of the game until the Stonecutters event, I have all the premium characters and $90 mil in game cash….which I think should be used to buy XP or donuts….I’m bummed out though, I really liked that episode/era of the Simpsons….thanks Bunny for your thoughts. I wish that I could get the items I missed. 😕
Unfortunately that may mean an issue with your device needing help thru Apple. I only ever had issues with my itunes once and I fixed it with a hard reset. Wondering if you can solve it through itunes or not. Best advice is to put a ticket in with EA letting them know your issue. If you get it in before the event ends, they may be able to hook you up. We all know they won’t complain about getting your money. Best of luck.
I’m kind of a hypocrite in that area. There are some really cool things other people have that I want that predate my playing but once I have them I kind of like the fact that they’ll make my town more original

Definitely a PASS on this one. For 250 donuts you should get the Mansion, Rocket Car AND Lampwick. Previous offers like this have usually included a building/character combo and decoration or two. Recent examples are the Duff offer and the Krustylu Studios offer. The “offer” part being that the price was less than buying the items individually.

As lampwick. Lives their I have left a park bench to make him ccomfortble.
If it came with Lampwick EA would have my sprinkles but 250 for a shiny house is waaay too much.
I only started playing at Christmas so my donut stash is well under the amount needed for this.

Bought the mansion and the rocket car. Now we need to convince EA to create some solid gold walls to surround it with that can be purchased for in game cash. We also need more land…more land…more land. 😛

Pulled the trigger on it finally ..but I had a few iTunes card & nabbed a boatload plus had an extra 65 or so accumulated . If you subtract what EA gave you in donuts from the Stone Cutter even it was maybe around 200 possibly less , still pricey but ..men ..What’s disturbing is blowing through 2500 donuts on a binge & still not having Lard Land …Lugash…the Nuke Warhead , the duff party boat , Film set , observatory or anything for the sqidport or Krustyland -_-

The dialogue for this was funny because it mocked completists like me. Yes I had to get, and yes I had to have it immediately. EA knows its game is a cash cow because of people like me and true addict that I am I believe there is nothing I can do about it. Fortunately it is an addiction that costs much less than cigarettes, alcohol or drugs and does no physical damage(I’m not so sure about psychological harm). I wish EA would throw us a couple of bones as far as something to spend my 100 million dollars of game cash on and MORE LAND! All in all though I feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth and it has introduced me to this blog and the good people here who have helped me so much with my game play.

Yes I did buy the gold house, mainly because it’ll look awesome with the gold pool. I’m trying to configure a holiday “cottage” for Burnsie and Smithers.
Just a little note to my neighbours: still having a devil of a time visiting. Game flat out crashes between neighbours. Sucks. I’ll be trying still throughout the end stages of the event. Please don’t drop me! Have a marvelous Monday!

I had that same problem about a month ago with the game. I don’t know if this will work for you, but a complete uninstall/re-install on my device fixed the problem for me. Good luck!
I think I’m in a minority here but I love this mansion. I’ve not done much with it yet but I have plans for it with the money pool and a few other items after my next re-design (just trying to decide if I should do this in stages or get the courage to hit that nuke button)
I know it was a lot of donuts but I’m a bigger fan of the buildings so I would much rather spend them on a huge mansion instead of several tiny NPCs that just get lost in my town.
Another reason was that EA have won me back with this event so if they keep this up I could see myself spending some real money again in the future
As someone who has only been playing since JAN2014 and is a little bit of both Premium & Freemium, I just cant justify it. Maybe if it brought Lampwick with it, but otherwise I see a lot more that I could spend donuts on. Also, after reading this edition of “Should I” it just doesn’t seem worth it. I’d rather hold out for a better Gil Deal.

I passed on this for 2 reasons:
a) it’s a lot of $$ for a building with no character, and not even a cool animation. Even if you bought your donuts by the boatload, it’s still more than $12. If you buy the truckload just to get this item you are basically paying $17.50! I feel like this much cash should still be for a combo building/character or decent multiplier or something.
b) I don’t want EA to look at the sales and think they can push the cost of future items up because so many people were willing to pay 250 for this one.
c) The Chester/auto price was in line with their other pricing (40 donuts for decoration with mutiplier, 80 for character). This feels out of line.

My OCD wouldn’t let me pass this up and I love it. It gives a great background for the rocket car and I love yr idea of putting the money pool there (can’t believe I overlooked that one). I don’t even have Chester yet but saving those sprinkles to secure my Anvil. Yet he will walk my streets soon. And I love you guys and rely on yr advice daily so I hate to correct you but the Gold Mansion does open a job for Cletus as well after he Stripped Copper Wire in the questline the job is still available to me abd I believe it has a premium payout. I have him doing that right now so I’ll have to wait 5 hours till I can confirm the $/XP payout

Gil is going to have to do much much better than that. 250 is just too much to even consider it. If it came with Lampwick and the car I would consider it.
