Should I Spend Donuts On the Fireworks Barge?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

4th of July has arrived in Springfield!  But, with that limited-time label it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. . But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Fireworks Barge to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm spend button, let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this floating explosion to your Springfield….

fireworksbarge_menu

Decoration: Fireworks Barge
Donut Price: 80 Donuts
Dimensions: 5×6
Bonus: 2.75% bonus to all cash and xp
Unique: Yes, only 1 per Springfield
Can Be Placed: Water only, it is a barge after all!
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +800

Pros:
-A decoration for the water, so you don’t have to worry about finding room in Springfield
-2.75% is a sweet bonus on all cash and XP
-Has Animation, when tapped.

Cons:
-No characters interact with it.
-Animation is a bit of a let down, if you’re expecting a big fireworks show (fits with the episode it’s from).
-High priced for what you get with it.  Especially considering it only impacts Vanity, one of the easiest to max out.

Final Thought:
This is one I can see a lot of players passing on.  The animation is a bit of a let down if you’re expecting something big and grand (in terms of a fireworks show) and it’s pretty high priced.  HOWEVER, it is something I definitely purchased (does that surprise you at this point).  I like it, I think it adds some character to my Waterfront.
But of course that’s just my opinion.  In the end we can’t tell you what you should or shouldn’t buy, only you can make that decision.  We can only offer up the pros and cons, and tell you what we did.  The final decision is up to you.  Just remember, whatever you decide make sure you do it before July 16th, since this is a Limited-Time decoration & once it’s gone it’s gone!

So there you have it my Tapping Friends…the Should I Buy Guide for the Fireworks Barge.  A decoration that’s cool in theory, but can be a let down if you’re expecting too much from it!  What do YOU think of the Barge?  Will you be making the purchases?  How is it displayed in your Springfield? Sound off in the comments below you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. I bought it and I regret…doesn’t worth the donuts

  2. I do struggle to resist limited time items but I think I will skip this one. It’s interesting to see peoples regrets. I think the only one for me is back in the early days I used all of my free donuts I’d saved on homer buddhas and got pretty much rubbish. If I had to pick one item it would probably be the pet store as I’m not too keen on the look of it and jub jub just ends up getting sent on his 12 hour task all the time since it’s pretty much his only one

  3. If this played “Sometimes When We Touch” I’d buy it in a hearbeat. Typically I save my donuts for characters.

  4. I personally had to have it. I had already read that for some people the animation was a let-down, but that didn’t sway me. The animation makes me giggle, and I tapped on it about 10 times in a row after placing it.

Also, as a bonus % addict, I’m slowly growing my bonus % as much as I can with any items I can buy. (holding off on the whales until I get some more water tiles.)

I regret much more the purchase of Mojo the Helper Monkey from Easter than I regret any of my donut purchases since. (and I bought him with the full knowledge that he did absolutely nothing except complete my Easter character set.)

  5. Mike ( not S )

I think the animation is funny. All the firework tubes attempt to launch, but only one fires and it’s a dud. I like the audio, too.

My donut regrets are Lumpy the child eating snake, abandoned store, and the Mayflower ( was that premium?).

    • The Mayflower was. SO hard to know what will please everyone. As far as NPCs go, I like finding Lumpy in my town. I imagine the middle bump is Wendell. Abandoned store was a steal comparatively so it could be worse. I also like the dud fireworks. To each their own I suppose.

  6. Wait you can only have 1 barge? I was able to get 4 of them.
I’ve been wondering how do we load pictures?????

I was looking forward to getting this when it first appeared. I didn’t have the donuts at the time. When I saw it in my friends’ Springfields, I was let down by the animation (Alissa or Bunny reminded me that it fits with the episode. I’ve since rematched the episode and it does to some degree). I’m still on the fence about it. I was inspired by Alissa to make my own barge with fireworks that I like better and that does the animation I had expected from this barge. I still may get this barge for the charm of it (and bonus).. I wish it was 40 or 45 donuts instead though.

  8. Hi Addicts Team,
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
Quick question: can you screen grab the animation for those of us who can’t visit neighbours who maybe have purchased it (argh with the crashing and the closing and lagging (glaven!). I’m a limited-time-ist and usually snap up limited time items but after hearing that the barge is a let-down, I would dearly love to see it in “action”. Thank you Alissa, Bunny and Wookiee!

    • Put two images on flickr. https://www.flickr.com/groups/tstoaddicts/pool/

Was kinda hard to catch, canisters move and then solitary dud arcs up and into water. I laugh every time.

      • Thank you so much for the screen shots! I see how it must have been hard to capture the animation. I really appreciate it 🙂
I see also why it may be called a let down, what with the rows of canisters. Nevertheless it looks pretty sweet. I especially love circular patterns. I’m sold!

    • Hey Sliqstream — I’ll prolly buy it in a couple of minutes because I’m a sucker that way, and then you can check it out in my Squidport if you want. — Pickles

  9. Can you screen shot your springfield and post it? We would love to see it – and we can’t all be on your friend list 🙂

  10. Regret the purchase but in the true spirit of an addict, had to have it! Just couldn’t resist!

  11. First I buy it then I check these posts. I’ll buy any and everything no matter what it is. I just like to get another opinion. I must say this doesn’t rank very high among my premium items. The animation is cute but don’t really know what to do with it. Maybe I’ll figure out something now that I have to completely redo my seaport. My original grand design has been foiled by a maximum number of boardwalk pieces which I didn’t see coming

  12. animation sheesh LOL With a 2.75 bonus and the DIRECT animation to The Best Show Ever, i am getting it! Yes the price is a lil steep and that would be my only gripe.

  13. My decorations and stars bonus says 65.75% with 4.5 stars. Does it only go to 100% and can I get it just getting decorations or do I need the consumerism and gluttony ratings too? Sorry this ain’t in questions section!!! I’m a baaaaaaddddd baaaaddd man.

    • Some of my neighboreenos have percentages above 200%, or so they say! The Conform O Meter just adds 5%, but most ways to get the percent up is buying premium things. I don’t know of any freemium things that give bonuses.

Do you Addicts know of any tips to get that percentage up?

      • Premium items…

Sometimes EA will give away a free premium item, that earns a bonus %, on a holiday. Like the Choo Choo Choose You Train on Valentine’s Day, Wailing Wall at Halloween, etc. But that’s the only way, beyond Conform bonus (caps at 5%) to get it up 🙂

        • That’s what I thought. I’m near 50%, even with a 5-star Conform bonus, but hey, 50% is much better than nothing at all! Saving all the donuts they’ve been giving out lately for a nice premium building though rather than decorations. 🙂

  14. Sorry, I feel the need to rant.
Am a freemium player saving every tiny donut I can get my hands on. Currently saving up for Arnie Pye. I have just fallen victim to the dreaded “donut spend confirm switched off without my knowledge”. I always check this after every game update so don’t know how I missed this. Has anyone else had this switched off outside of a game update. I have contacted EA and hopefully they will refund me my 6 precious donuts. I really wish they would stop this happening. If I switch on the donut spend confirm, they really should not be switching it off behind my back.
    Rant over.

    • 🙁 rant read, and approved of! I hate when that happens!

    • That suck but I would save your sprinkles for somthing or someone better than Arnie Pye. He is easily the most annoying character in the game.

      • Explain?

      • Just about every time I visit a friend with his helicopter riding, it crashes. 🙁 Plus, it does personally bother me to watch him flying around. Its too “in your face” for my Springfield, but some people really love and swear by his animations. I know I’m saving up for some of the extremely staple Simpsons characters. They’ll add most life to the game, in my opinion. 🙂

  15. I bought it and laughed my a$$ off! The animation is sooo funny imho.

  16. I was glad to get it because I need more water items for my Squidport design, although I agree with the others that its animation is stinky.

  17. Biggest let down/sprinkle-regret yet – including the accidental purchases :-p

My mistake for not waiting for this post 😉

    • My bad for not getting it up last week. Too much craziness with the holiday/weekend! However, I look at it like I remember why it does what it does and it makes me smile thinking of YBOC 🙂

      • My biggest mistake was assuming – thought for sure it would have some character interaction. Still have enough doughnuts left to get Abe and the Diner so it wasn’t too painful of a lesson :-p

  18. I was SUPER let down by the barge and so far it’s the only thing I’ve regretted spending my sprinklies on.

  19. Bought it but was let down by the animation 🙁
