Should I Spend Donuts On Father Sean?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Yard Sale time in Springfield & what’s old is once new again!  But, with that limited-time label, and the added pressure of these being some highly coveted items, it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on.  But, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.

So far we’ve broken down the pros and cons of the Mayan Bundles, the pros and cons of the character skins, the pros and cons of the Cool Combo,  the pros and cons of the decorations and the pros and cons of the buildings, so what’s left?  Father Sean of course!

Wondering if you should add Father Sean to your Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm spend button, let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this rapping Catholic to your town…..

Father sean rap

Character: Father Sean
Donut Price: 135 donuts

Pros
-Returning item from Easter 2014, so if you didn’t win him in the Gold Box now’s your chance to grab him
-Premium character earns 50% more cash and xp on tasks.
-Comes with a fun questline
-BEST Character of the Easter Event, in my opinion.
-Great outside animations

Cons
-It was free during Easter, a prize won in the box
-Not voiced
-No character interaction after initial questline
-Insanely expensive for a stand alone character

Final Thought:
Long time readers of this blog know I LOVE Father Sean.  He’s one of my favorite characters in the game, and I did some crazy egg buying during Easter just to get him.  So it’s hard for me to find reasons not to buy him…BUT in this case I can find one.  He’s INSANELY expensive.  Granted many of us probably spent more than that in donuts to get him during Easter, but 135 donuts is still a ton to spend for a stand alone character in this game.
My advice…unless you’re a completest and won everything from Easter BUT Father Sean or you have a ton of donuts burning a hole in your pocket, this may be one you want to pass on.  That being said…if I didn’t already have him, I’d buy him.

My best advice for ALL of the items in the Yard Sale,  is to see what other items you might be coveting during the Yard Sale and weigh each option BEFORE you make any purchases.  The “sale” ends August 4th…so you have some time to make up your mind about what you want to do.  🙂

So there you have it my Tapping Friends…the final Should I Buy Guide for the 2014 Yard Sale!

What do YOU think of Father Sean?  Did you make the purchase or did you already have him from Easter?  What are your thoughts on the Yard Sale in general?  Are you enjoying Level 43, or ready for the next big thing?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

Since I already had won him at Easter & he didn’t show as an option, I thought the yard sale was lame. Now that I know he was one of the offerings, I says heck ya! I love having him & would happily spend the sprinklies on him!

I fortunately won him in the Easter event and now he pays out premium since his inclusion in the Yard Sale. Woohoo! If I didn’t have him already, I would probably pass on buying him now (at this price) only because there are other stand-alone characters (which have larger roles in the series) that want more which I haven’t got yet. That said, I have to say I love his ‘Be Cool on his Motorbike’ task. That alone may be worth the donuts for some. Coincidentally I had finally reached a point in the gameplay when I wasn’t desperately fundraising for in-game money to complete a quest, so I began to let some of my residents take on longer tasks (which earn less per hour than shorter tasks) which meant I had just started to appreciate Fr. Sean again with his motorbike when the Yard Sale began. I imagine some visitors to my town assume I just bought him in the Yard Sale, but I actually had him since the Easter event.

  3. I absolutely LOVED the episode that introduced Fr. Sean! He was expensive, but I had to have him. I can still picture Homer in class with notes written on his arm. *chuckle* Sean looks so cool riding around my town on his motorcycle! Barney and Otto will have to wait a little while longer. No regrets on that purchase. 🙂

  4. Not a big fan of his, so this is a pass for me. I hope a lot of people pass on him because I can see this becoming a nasty precedent in the future. Put popular character into game with really low chance of getting them. A few months later release said character for a limited time at an inflated price. Profit handsomely. Not a trend I am looking forward to at all.

    No donuts on Easter items

  6. I was one of the lucky ones who got him fairly easily during Easter and I love him. I never got Shary Bobbins though 🙁 and it came right down to the wire to finally get Johnny’s which I wanted desperately (we have a restaurant called “Lone Star” here which makes THE best fajitas ever and it’s our #1 choice for birthdays and other special (but not super fancy) meals. Slightly off-topic, but yeah, love Fr. Sean, not sure I’d buy him at that price though…

  7. I wanted him so bad at Easter & didn’t get him. someone more accurate than lovejoy needs to give the sermons in my town! Saw him pop up here & was sad to see his price tag. I had some donuts but was about 90 short.

Then I saw I had a couple of bucks left on an iTunes gift card. What the heck? I tried for a scratcher. I got the top 100 donuts!!!!! it’s a miracle! woooooo!!!!!

    Welcome home father!

  8. Definitely worth it. Hands down one of my favorite characters in the entire game and I say this owning all the characters in the game

  9. Religious Fonzie……..no brainer

  10. Not getting Father Sean during Easter was frustrating. I’ve only got about half the donuts necessary to buy him, so I may haul off and purchase some donuts to get him. I’ve been a freemium player for over two years now, so I can hardly say EA hasn’t provided me many hours of free entertainment.

  11. Fr. Sean and Johnny’s were the 2 things I managed to NOT get from Easter and every time I go to someone’s town that has them, I’m VERY sad. So I bought him even though he’s SO expensive. So far, the stupid fireworks barge is the only thing I’ve regretted spending donuts on.
