Level 44 has arrived in Springfield! And with it comes a fan favorite Akira & the Happy Sumo, a sushi restaurant from a classic Simpsons episodes! Now I know you may be trying to decide if this sushi server and his restaurant are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Akira to YOUR Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Poison Poison Tasty Fish combo to YOUR Springfield!
Building/Decoration: The Happy Sumo

Donut Price: 100 donuts
Dimensions: 4×7
Earns: $90, 9xp/ 2hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Gluttony +10
Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Pretty decent payout on the building, great way to generate some extra cash in your town.
-The Happy Sumo has some fun animation to it.
-Akira, once you reach the part in the questline, will be able to generate free premium Bonsai trees for you every 36hrs. Great way to add some premium pop to your Springfield without spending donuts.
-Voiced
-Reasonably priced
Cons:
-No Character Interaction after questline.
-Several of his tasks are indoors
-Happy Sumo is on the small side.
Final Thought:
Personally, if you have the donuts to spend, I say go for it. This combo (in my opinion) is AWESOME. I love Akira’s questline and the Happy Sumo…and I’m thrilled to have BOTH in my Springfield! (finally) Plus, “One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish” is a Simpson Classic…and one of my favorites!
From a practical standpoint it’s a great buy as well. 100 donuts is one of the cheapest character/building combo offered in the game. (only the Petshop is cheaper at 90 donuts) So, for a great donut price you’ll get a premium character to help boost income in your Springfield as well as a premium building that will earn you $90/2hrs. In my opinion this is a win/win.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you Akira was a purchase I made right away! However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process. Akira will still be there in a few weeks. So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

I just got this item because it was relatively cheap for a character+building combo and I noticed the following which seems to me to be another arguable pro:
The second quest, “fuguaboutit” pt 1, includes a 60 minute task for everyone in Springfield except for Akira. While I assume this is temporary, since it doesn’t complete until you send Akira on his two hour task it occurs to me that I can probably just neglect to do his task and keep the special, premium, in-door task for everyone in my town indefinitely.
Obviously this means I won’t unlock his special ability for a while, but I don’t see any major downsides offhand…
Another PRO is a 3hours task for Ralph Wiggum sich is premium rated
I am think of getting him but can I ask if you can sell the free bonsai trees we get from him? If so that would be even more awesome!!
No you can’t sell them. And right now there’s a bit of a glitch going on causing bonsai not to create. So you may want to hold off on getting him for right now until it’ fixed..

Honestly, I don’t know. It’s been a while since I’ve done it. I’ve heard some say it’s fixed and others say it’s still happening. Anyone in the community able to help out on this one?
(P.S. He’s still worth it even if you can’t make Bonsai. One of the best premium combos for the cost in the game)

I think it might still be there; where in the inventory is the plant to appear? I picked this up during the Black Friday deals. I just passed the full Plant portion, the quest is 1/3 done, but I can’t find a new plant in my inventory.
should be under plants…but usually I say check the whole inventory list instead of the category because sometimes items don’t appear right
I’m in the midst of this now – as is my father. He’s a task ahead of me and saw the 1/3 but swore he didn’t place it. I searched his town and found a bonsai tree that was pre-existing from a previous quest line. I had the same bonsai in my town too. Now I just passed the first “bonsai complete” part and there is no bonsai in my inventory either. The glitch definitely still exists, at least, for the first part of the quest. Once another three tasks have been completed I’ll check back in.
Hi same here. During the quest, I completed the 3 x 12 hrs tasks and no bonsai was given. The one in inventory is mine. I used it and placed it. In the second round though, I am given. I am now in progress for the third bonsai.
I have been thinking about getting the Happy Sumo as my next premium purchase. Is Akira still able to make bonsais??

Also, Level 52 has a bonus quest line for Ralph involving The Happy Sumo. Afterwards, Ralph has a permanent 3-hour task that pays at premium rate.
Looks like the free bonsai has ended. Had the Ralph request sushi plug and bought the Happy Sumo. Got to the “A Deep Bonsai of Relief Pt. 4” and completed the 3 twelve hour tasks when it said place bonsai 1 of 3. No bonsai. Found in the store the bonsai for 12 donuts and in the description “Required to complete the A Deep Bonsai Of Relief apt. 4 quest. Looks like 36 donuts for 3 bonsai are required to finish Akiras quest now! Needs to be moved fro Pro to Con if this is the case. Quest needs to be completed before Ralph quest will start.
There’s a bonsai glitch…happens sometimes. If you contact EA they should give you one to replace the missing one
After completing another 36 hours, one was placed in the inventory. Woohoo. Looks like the first was a buy option for the impatient that’s not well documented. Two more to go and hopefully the start of Ralph’s quest.
