Level 44 has arrived in Springfield! And with it comes a fan favorite Akira & the Happy Sumo, a sushi restaurant from a classic Simpsons episodes! Now I know you may be trying to decide if this sushi server and his restaurant are worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it! We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add Akira to YOUR Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Poison Poison Tasty Fish combo to YOUR Springfield!

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Pretty decent payout on the building, great way to generate some extra cash in your town.
-The Happy Sumo has some fun animation to it.
-Akira, once you reach the part in the questline, will be able to generate free premium Bonsai trees for you every 36hrs. Great way to add some premium pop to your Springfield without spending donuts.
-Voiced
-Reasonably priced
Cons:
-No Character Interaction after questline.
-Several of his tasks are indoors
-Happy Sumo is on the small side.
Final Thought:
Personally, if you have the donuts to spend, I say go for it. This combo (in my opinion) is AWESOME. I love Akira’s questline and the Happy Sumo…and I’m thrilled to have BOTH in my Springfield! (finally) Plus, “One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish” is a Simpson Classic…and one of my favorites!
From a practical standpoint it’s a great buy as well. 100 donuts is one of the cheapest character/building combo offered in the game. (only the Petshop is cheaper at 90 donuts) So, for a great donut price you’ll get a premium character to help boost income in your Springfield as well as a premium building that will earn you $90/2hrs. In my opinion this is a win/win.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you Akira was a purchase I made right away! However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process. Akira will still be there in a few weeks. So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

For me as an hourly player, another con would be the lack of an 1 hour task.
I’m having a bit of a problem with the 3rd Bonsai…
I read here the other day how to get the third one doing another 36 hour take line instead of spending doughnuts, so first I 1.Planted, then 2.Pruned, but it skipped 3.Pot, and Went back to Plant Bonsai again, what happend?
You always get the most interesting glitches…
It’s probably a similar issue to the others. Try running it again and see if it repeats or you can contact EA. (if it repeats you’ll need to contact them again anyway)
That’s what I did right away, started the quest again, I did get the first free one at least, but now I have to wait another 36 hours for the 2nd one.
This time it went from step 1. Plant Binsai, right to step 3 Re-Pot Bonsai..
Looks like I’m on the 48 hour 4 step version to get the Bonsai!
I hope I get the Bonsai at the end of this extended quest…
Then again I do have a real bonsai that I brought back from near extinction, had 5 dead leaves leaf left and one that was half brown and when left outside last year summer someone gave one of the three roots a tug and snapped it half off.
Today it looks like a compleatly different happy plant.
So clearly the game is imitating life 😉
Thank you Wookie for clarifying this. I think a lot of people would not be able to complete this quest without this site. Everything is usually cut and dry, but this one is/was a guessing game. I also think it’s a good purchase, but I am also a completist and have or want every premium character or Gold House that is offered. I am still mad EA wouldn’t take my money until after that was over. D’oh! Thanks for all you guys and gals do here! FXX has been great to watch with this 552 episode marathon btw 🙂
I completed the 3 parts for Akira and no bonsai is in my inventory. Is this happening to anyone else? I planted,pruned and repotted which took 36 hours and no bonsai tree in my inventory!!
AKira’s tasks don’t earn bonsais until after the quest appears to place three. I just earned my first one today.
Yeah same happened to me only have the one from Database. Pretty big bummer to 36 hours like that.
I purchased Akira & the Happy Sumo but am stuck on the quest line A deep bonsai on relief pt 4, place Bonsai 1/3. My only option is to purchase the other two bonsai at 12 donuts to continue. I already paid for the character, so can’t imagine this was their intention, to make us spend an additional 24 donuts to complete the task. I’ve tried storing the building, storing the building and bonsai, nothing seems to fix it. When the bonsai is stored, it goes back to 0/3 tasks.
Unless someone can confirm that I must spend an extra 24 donuts on 2 more bonsai to finish the quest, I’ll assume this is a bug that they will fix or would then need to contact support.
Akira has a 3 part task that will earn you bonsais. It’s 12 hrs each, plant, prune and pot bonsais. After the 36 hrs are complete, you’ll earn one for free. Do it twice and you’re done.

Those buggers at EA are sneaky with this, however. When you click on Akira’s icon on the task list, it automatically takes you to the premium section to purchase the bonsai with donuts. Pretty lame way for EA to get a couple of extra donuts out of people who aren’t paying attention

Akira’s only options are to Prune Bonsai. I did that and nothing happened nor was there an option to pot it…

After you complete the first 12 hr task, it switches to the next one. There’s no prompt for the free bonsais… you just do the 3 12 hr bonsai tasks and you earn the freebie.

There’s no prompt for the free bonsais… you just do the 3 12 hr bonsai task and you earn the freebie. After you complete the first 12 hr task, it switches to the next one. Just clock on Akira and do whatever 12 hr bonsai task he’s on. The order should be plant, then prune, then re-pot. The free bonsai will then be awarded to ya when all 36 hrs of tasks are done.
I think qhat Wookie isn’t processing is people are sying they are completing 36 hours of tasks and not getting the Bonsai in their inventory
I just know the first round you do with Akira for his quests does not earn one. After that’s done, you get the quest to place three. AFter that, the tasks have produced them for me. If anyone is not earning them, it needs to be addressed with EA.

I’m stuck in part 4 of the “Plant a Bonzai” quest. Every time I click on Akira’s icon on the left, I’m taken to the premium menu where I’m supposed to purchase a bonsai tree for 12 donuts. I already did the quest where I collected the free Bonzai tree. Do I really have to spend 24 donuts on two trees to complete the quest or am I missing something? If so, this is a new low for EA. Thank you in advance.
Sorry, the quest is called, “A deep bonsai of relief 4”. I earned the first tree but can’t figure out how to place the next two without using donuts.

I got my bonsai from Database now im at the point with Akira where its asking me to plan three bonsai. It says ons is already done (i’m assuming this is the one from database). when I click on do it it takes me to the build menu where I have to pay donuts to place bonsai. Is there a way to do this without having to use donuts?
Do Akira’s 3 part quest (plant/prune/pot) and you should earn one. Do it again and you’re done.

I just had Akira finish the three 12 hour tasks for bonsai tree but where is my tree? Not in inventory or anything 🙁 and now it wants me to place 3 of them but where is my first one? Has this been happening to anyone? Also I placed happy sumo/Akira as soon as the update happened but I only just finished building honest johns cos I had to save enough cash could that be why?
In my game, Akira didn’t start earning bonsais for his 3-parter until after the task where it asks you to place 3. You’ll earn an additional one during Database’s quests.

How and where do you guys get all this donuts from in order to purchase this buildings that increase your income? I don’t have extra real money to spend on buying donuts, any suggestions?
You can take advantage of the free donuts offered in the game at various points (like leveling up and when you have maxed Friendship points). Personally, I spend money in this game…but I’m impatient lol
You can also try to farm for free donuts when you have excessive TSTO cash to spend…

Oh once you reach the max level you get to play the bonus level up game…where your xp helps you earn free donuts. More details on it here 🙂

I’ll wait until I’m done with the level 44 questlines and possibly after the latest event is complete, but I think I’m going to get him at some point. It’s a character I didn’t have to look up, he’s appeared in several memorable episodes, and he makes free stuff over and over again if you want him to. Too bad those little trees don’t give bonuses (at least Database’s didn’t when he finished up this morning in my game), but they’re different and cool-looking.
I just bought this yesterday as it’s such a good deal and I like the animation and I like the character. I’m not very far in the quest line yet. Seems like a great purchase for anyone with 100 donuts 🙂

When Database finished growing his this morning my game, the inventory description just said it improved tree-hugging, no bonus attached.
That’s right. It’s premium because if you don’t make them the free way, they use up 12 donuts each.
Downloaded Akira and he’s great! Well worth the donuts! Do you guys know if there would be a possible return for Kumiko though? Would be great to have his 6hour task as well!

This one was a no-brainer and an immediate buy for me. As premium purchases go, this is easily one of the best bargains in the whole game. Plus, the storyline is hilarious. I must second Akira’s question, though: where IS Cookie Kwon? She’d be a great addition.

Don’t normally get the premium additions unless they are truly awesome and I think this is one of those , only minor grumble is the “voiced” bits are just assorted grunts and not really voiced.
Though saying that the one true guaranteed premium item I would want is a proper voiced fat tony …. Anyone for a fit tony ?

It means after the questline is done it’s a solo character. All of his tasks etc are done on his own.

Are you asking if his karate task has to do with Ninja Homer… if so, the answer is no.

Fort Sensible being in the game actually pre-dates this site’s existence so one hasn’t been done yet. I’m sure it’s on Alissa’s to-do list.

I have kind of a strong feeling that we might see Akira as part of a Gil deal coming up in the next few months, so I’m holding off for now. If there was no Gil deals ever, I’d probably pick him up immediately!
Not too sure. He’s the second cheapest character combo so personally, I hope they discount the more expensive ones in the future for tappers. Good news is he’s part of the level so he’ll be sticking around.
They did it with Otto almost immediately after I bought him for the full price, and at the time, he was the cheapest character/building combo (again with the exception of jub-jub). They may be more likely to slightly reduce lower priced character/building combos, but package bigger content with a few other items (like the other Gil deals). I guess I’m just being cautious after my Otto situation. I don’t regret buying him, but I’m willing to wait and hope for good news.
