Simpsons Saturday Night Fun: Hollywood Bowl

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Simpsons are celebrating 25 years this weekend at the Hollywood Bowl!

Simpsons Bowl

As we reported last month the Simpsons would be celebrating their 25th Anniversary with a special star studded concert over 3 days at the Hollywood Bowl…and that weekend has arrived!

Our very own Wookiee will be doing a full write up on the event, but I wanted to jump ahead here and share some fun clips with those who couldn’t attend the event.  So for those of you who, like me, are no where near the event this weekend…enjoy these clips of the event!

There’s also a really great article from Entertainment Weekly about the best moments of the show here: http://popwatch.ew.com/2014/09/13/simpsons-hollywood-bowl-concert/

So that’s it for this Saturday night my friends!  Hope you enjoyed the clips!

What do YOU think of the clips?  What about the idea of a Simpsons concert?  How about Conan’s rendition of the Monorail Song?  Did you go to the event?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. good show. needed to be more. I could see this being a regular thing with slightly different shows like the Bugs Bunny at the Bowl (Bugs & the Symphony) series. LOVED how they actually decorated the bowl to match (unlike Bugs) but felt they were lacking on the merch. Only a poster (with no tube or rubber band to help you not destroy it in the crowds). Bugs had a cool CD that I would have loved to have of this event not to mention T-shirts. And the only program was the bowl one: the stereotypical concert one with very little info in it. That’s another area where bugs excelled (& took my money) because he had a full glossy program with liner notes & behind the scenes stories. a few areas I think they could improve if they do it again.

Wow, did the Hollywood Bowl staff tear down the decorations quick after the concert though! So much for getting good pics! I grabbed a few, but ugh. too soon. I know they wanna get home too but come on!

Hank Azaria was great! He stole the show. Who’d a thunk I’d hear Chief Wiggam sing frozen?

Wish I had more money to buy better tickets than I had (section Q). No way I was gonna get a duff shirt that was tossed to the crowd. Also, apparently there were scratch tickets for a contest to win an iPad or something but they were only handed out to people who happened to be at the right place at the right time.

I hadn’t seen David Silverman play his Tuba since my intern days at a Halloween studio party so that brought back some memories (he’s known for bringing his sousaphone in & jamming with it. Started a little group of musician animators (different from those in the show) one Christmas too).

The tribute to Phil Hartman was great (too long?? maybe if you were too young to know who he was but it was okay).

Overall great show & I’d pay to see it again if they decided to do a part 2 or turn it into a tour (although if they did that I highly doubt there’d be as many celebs like Conan, etc). All I heard from people leaving was “what about X song? I would have loved to hear This other song!” So they have tons of material & want for more shows!

But my biggest wish is that they release the new animation to YouTube or a DVD bonus feature or something. The Film Roman team did a great job of it (& were credited although during the fireworks where they admitted no one would watch – ha!). Really captured how hard it is to actually get to the bowl! Now to make on about how hard it is to LEAVE the bowl! I honestly could have walked home faster…

    pics being emailed to ya!

  2. It was so much fun! My husband and I saw the Saturday night show. We were sitting in the nosebleeds (W1 row 8) so alllll the way in the back. The beginning part showed Homer making the climb towards this area of the bowl and it was practically perpendicular. My row mates and us all screamed and clapped. The fireworks were amazing. Unfortunately any other SoCal residents know how ridiculously hot it is this weekend–woohoo 102 and no a/c :((( so the climb from the metro at highland to the bowl was uncomfortable to say the least. Regardless it was a spectacular show. I don’t know how to attach pictures to this text box thing-sorry.
    Have a great weekend!

  3. I have a ticket to see this tonight, but now there is a chance my shift at work is going to be extended and I won’t be able to make it to the show : (

  4. Thanks so much guys. Bit far to go for me to see in the flesh (14 hour flight) so that was almost as good :). Absolutely brilliant

  6. Uh I’m encountering a glitch I think where after deleting 5 apps it still won’t let me play since he keeps on saying not enough data for some reason did a really big update just hit?
