Should I Spend Donuts on Üter and the Hungry Hun?

Level 45 has arrived in Springfield!  And with it comes a much requested child of Springfield, Üter & the Hungry Hun!    Now I know you may be trying to decide if this chocolate eating kid is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Üter to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this candy bar fiend to YOUR Springfield!

Uter enjoy candy for breakfast 1 thehungryhun_menu

Building/Decoration: The Hungry Hun
Character: Üter
Donut Price: 160 donuts
Dimensions: 6×7
Earns:
$200, 22xp/ 8hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Gluttony +10

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Pretty decent payout on the building, great way to generate some extra cash in your town.
-Üter’s animations are hilarious and totally make up for the cost!
-Questline features two hidden questlines if you have Otto and Hank Scorpio (each are separate, so you don’t need both to unlock)

Cons:
-No Character Interaction after questline.
-Not voiced.
-Several of his tasks are indoors
-Pricey for a premium character/building combo (Although not the highest priced combo in the game…still pricey)

Final Thought:
Personally, if you have the donuts to spend, I say go for it.  This combo (in my opinion) is AWESOME.  Üter’s questline is great and his animations make me giggle!  I love the bonus questlines they throw in for Otto and Hank as well!

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you Üter was a purchase I made right away! However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Üter will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

  1. Does this Uter definitely help with recycling? I can’t see him anywhere now in the recycling list for any of the three recycling plants. I know he was there before with a button to go buy him. The only character I see as a premium for recycling now is some old guy in a red bow tie.

Does the chocolate chapel carry any bonus?

    • He definitely helps with recycling. I think he had a bonus to his tasks there but can’t verify the totals at the moment because he’s on a 24 hour task. I’ll check when I can and post the info here, unless someone else has the info handy and posts first.

    • Yes, he does help. Both with plastic and trash collection as a premium rate.

The old guy you saw for premium recycling is Uriah, who can recycle all types of materials, just like Jesse Grass.

Chocolate Chapel does not carry any bonus but earns $ and XP.

I bought the Hungry Hun offer right away. Absolutely worth it, if you don’t already have him. One premium character, and 2 new buildings with $ and XP at a price of 120 donuts (after rebate of 40). What’s not to like?

The only concern for me is if we have enough feedback to EA to force them to fix the bug for Ride The Monorail, which is not possible to complete without auto-sleep timer activated within 10 seconds. I gave them 5 feedback separately, but all ignored. This WAS my favorite feature of the game. Sigh.

  2. Where did Uter and the Hungry Hun go???? I just went to buy him today and he isn’t available to purchase. I don’t ever remember this happening.

  3. TrainDepotThought

Might be worth noting that he now also has the bonus utility of helping with the weekly train depot grind.

  4. That kid’s got bosoms! Who’s got a wet towel??

  5. Looking to maybe buy this during Gil’s sale right now, but I see Greta is coming up too. Did Uter have Halloween Trick or Treat tasks last year? I think I will only buy one and a kid who might be useful for Halloween could tip the scales. Thank you.

    • Nope neither had costumes last year. Not sure how they’ll work it this year. In the past kids went on tasks without costumes…

      • Thanks Alissa. I’m not as concerned with costumes as usefulness. The Should I Buy on Greta specifically mentioned in pros that she had a task to earn treat bags last year, but no such mention was made for Uter, so I’m not sure if he had tasks or not. At any rate, I purchased Uter in the end already, so now I just have to decide if I will buy the school and Greta or not. I just bought my annual boatload of Halloween/Christmas donuts, but I want them to last awhile! I just hope they can get my iPad version running again at some point. Using my phone but much less fun. So glad I put that ticket in on the weekend….no one ever got back to me. Will have to use the “call me” option on Monday I guess (since today is Friday).

  6. Hey, as a freemium player I would like to know : should i buy luann or üter . These are my two favorite characters but I only got donuts to buy one , so who do you think I should get ?

    • Hmmmm tough one. Luann unlocks extra questlines and Fleet a Pita’s, so that is a plus for her. But I do like Uter as a Character as he cracks me up. I always think of Willy Wonka when I see him, now if I can just get him to slurp some chocolate out of the river. 😉

  7. For the hidden tasks, if I buy Uter now and then buy Hank Scorpio in a couple months, will the hidden task pop-up at that time?

    • It depends on when they expire and if EA changes that expiration between now and then. You can try it then. Hard to say yes or no with something that may change.

  8. Uter was an immediate purchase for me. Now, we need a task where Legs “speaks” with him. Or Homer chasing him with a towel. Either one is good for me.

  9. I bought this right away. The building looks great, and it fits-in perfectly in my new “Fantasyland” district near my Barbarian castle. Just need a few more “ye old worlde”-style buildings and I’m set. Heh. Uter’s quests and animations are hilarious. Watching him eat chocolate or running in his underwear cracks me up. I only wish he were voiced.

  10. I plan on buying them after the next Gil sale. Right now I’m saving my donuts in anticipation of Halloween (my first!). But I’m looking forward to getting myself some Üterbraten. Yum!

Oooohhh… maybe there will be an episode tie-in with the cannibalistic teachers this Halloween.

  11. On the cons, don’t most characters have little interaction after their quest lines. Like Kumiko, Maude, Mindy, and Kang?

    • They pretty much all do, some still have joint tasks with other characters however. Or they’re used again down the line. Like Dr. Nick has a questline with Squidport and Manjula has a joint task with Apu.

  12. Interesting note in case you didn’t know 🙂 :
In Germany Üter is called Uter (with an ‘U’ instead of the Umlaut-Character Ü) and he is from switzerland. (By the way, as a german, never heard of a first name ‘Üter’ in Germany lol).
I’ve also read, that he comes from Düsseldorf in Germany. But you will never see a guy from this german area with leather pants on (at least not with these bavarian “Lederhosn” :D).

It is funny sometimes how people from all over the world (yes, especially from the US 😉 ) see “us” germans.Us fat, beer drinking, chocolate eating germans Haha

    • In germany I believe he’s translated to be swedish for the episodes. Lol

      • Swedes does NOT wear lederhosen! We drink beer and eat chocolate, but we don’t wear lederhosen. We all have clothes from Blåkläder and Fjällräven.

        • Uter must wear them just for comfort, like I wear short and long overalls. I can’t stand any tightness in clothing. Overalls are excellent for computer work — it turns out that not having any tightness around the midsection when seated apparently is helpful for your heart also. Can’t remember why, but my freelancer colleagues also chained to a computer at the wrist had a big discussion on that years ago.

We don’t really know for sure that Uter’s are made of leather, do we? They could be comfy cotton….

    • At least they know something about Germany – they usually don’t know *anything* about Wales (not even that it’s next to England).

      • Hahahah…well…it is the Simpsons where they intentionally get things wrong to serve a purpose of the humor they write. That is why the town layout changes all the time. Moe’s used to be next door to the Simpsons. 😉

        • Debbie Dovenbrink

The first one makes sense, the second one is a surprise to me, didn’t know that the layout changes. But, with so many changes in different episodes, it’s cool for us tappers that there is no “correct” Springfield, just the Springfield that’s on the episode you watch or in your game. 🙂

I hope Uter gets discounted again and that I will have donuts then. I will buy him then.

  13. Hey German Boy, go back to Germania!

  14. If i had enough

  15. I’ll get him eventually, hopefully in a sale, but I’m For the Hoard! …sorry, hording donuts in anticipation of the THOH event.

  16. Much like you, the German chocoholic was an instabuy for this Welsh chocoholic (although I don’t eat as much of it as he does).
