Should I Spend Donuts on Krusty’s Mansion?

Ah fall….the leaves changes color, there’s a crisp fall feeling in the air, football returns, baseball hits playoffs…and THE SIMPSONS COMES BACK!!!  Woo-hoo!  Season 26 is just a few days away (3 to be exact!) and EA has decided to get us all excited for the new season…where someone will die (cue ominous music)….with a fun little Episode tie-in all about Krusty!

Personally, I love episode tie-ins.   They’re short, sweet and get me excited for a new episode of The Simpsons!  And this one is no exception!  The Season 26 Premiere episode tie-in as brought us a fun new (free) skin for Krusty…and a brand new premium mansion for him to act fancy in!

Now,with the “only available till Sunday” label on it I’m sure you’re asking ‘Quick!  Should I Spend Donuts on This?’ Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this one precenter’s paradise to YOUR Springfield!

Krustys Mansion 1

Building: Krusty’s Mansion
Donut Price: 115 donuts
Dimensions: 6×10
Payout:
$200,22xp Every 8hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +300

Pros:
-Comes with a new permanent 6hr task for Krusty (Relax like a One Percenter)
-While a little on the small side for a mansion, it has a great look to it.  Works nicely with Wolfcastle’s Mansion.
-It is animated when in use.
-Reasonably priced for a premium building.

Cons:
-Krusty is the only character that interacts with it.
-No questline attached.  A quest does pop up, but no additional dialogue
-Expensive for just a building…when compared to other premium stand alone buildings.
-Adds to Vanity in the Conform-o-Meter, one of the easiest to max out.  (surprised it doesn’t impact Indolence honestly)

Final Thought:
Personally, if you have the donuts to spend, I say go for it.  As soon as I saw this in yesterday’s update I snatched it right up!  Everyone needs a house, even Krusty! (I think he’s getting tired of sleeping at Krusty Burger)  I really do like the design of this one, it actually reminds me of a house from another Fox game…which makes me giggle.  However, if your donuts are limited you might way to consider passing on this one…you never know what’s around the corner with EA!

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you this is one I got right away.  However, whatever you decide, just remember this IS Limited-Time and will leave our games on Sunday 9/28…so make your final purchasing decisions before Sunday so you don’t miss out!

What are YOUR thoughts on Krusty’s Mansion?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring this store to your Springfield? Where have you placed it in your town?  Are you excited for the Season Premiere on Sunday?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. Well my 225 doughnuts after buying 4 characters and a Malibu shoe statue for malibue Stacey as well as the ice cream truck for homer is it for a bit atleast till Halloween. I like the fact they make a house for rusty but the outside decore looks too much like the Italian decal on the two other houses plus the mansion you lvl up for free. I’ll save my 225 left over doughnuts for something new before Halloween.

Honestly krustys mansion just looks pretty bland. Not sure if it was like that in the show but yeah not cool enough looking for me. Nice try ea. nice try. Happy tapping.

  2. I would have bought the mansion if it came with a new XP-earning character, or at the very least, a premium skin for a character who didn’t already have one), but as it is, it was too expensive for a building that I won’t get much use out of. I would rather save my donuts for premium Halloween 2014 content.

  3. Will there be a post for all of Krusty’s new tasks soon. I eagerly tapped through the blurbs in between the dialogue so I didn’t get to read them, I would really like to know what I missed out on!!

  4. Will it be available all Sunday? Or gone tonight??

  5. Ahh I’m stuck as to why to do I like it except it’s small I have 146 dognuts and worried about Halloween to. What to do I don’t really buy donuts as I can’t afford to. Help lol

    • It’s a hard place to be because we don’t know what Halloween will bring…it’s tough. Honestly, it’s got to be a personal decision. If you absolutely want the mansion then go for it. You’ll still have a couple of weeks left to earn more donuts and then October to earn more…so you could have enough for what’s upcoming. BUT if you’re really worried about missing out on something for Halloween then hold onto them and see what next month brings…hard decision I know.

  6. I think the mansion is too small but a lot of buildings seem out of whack. The building to character ratio seems to be about 1:1.5, when Lou strolls past the new tennis centre the front door resembles doggy door size!
Also too many donuts considering Halloween is coming up next. I was wondering if the rumour Krusty will die tomorrow is true then it would be just in time to give us a Zombie Krusty skin for Halloween… now that would be cool.

  7. Ya know, I really want this because it will go with my other mansions….but,
I have got to stop spending so much money on this game. It’s ridiculous. So…I’m gonna be strong and not get it 🙁

  8. I want to buy this, but it’s so strangely sized, I don’t like the way it looks. Plus I absolutely have to buy a couple of aliens here when halloween arrives 😉

  9. I loved the building right away and bought it just before reading this… What do you mean “you never know what’s around the corner with EA!”
I will be so sad if there is another Gill deal right after I give in a buy a premium item 🙁 otherwise I don’t usually buy a lot of premium things but this is just too good to pass for me.

  10. Ok ok, you guys talked me into it! It’s helps to have an idea of how to design it before purchasing and then to be reminded about the limited time offer. Thanks for that, Alissa! Off to work on a small redesign…

  11. Just bought it :-). Have had 30 donuts in the mystery box the last 2 weeks, 2 donuts when I levelled up in the week & 2-3 donuts a day for the last week visiting friends so that helped with my decision. Still have around 350 left for Halloween can’t wait it will be my first one & sounds like a lot of fun.

  12. Skip it!

Look they will offer it again within the year like they do with other items. Also they will make it a package deal.

Now if it boosted my earnings, then perhaps.

  13. I usually pounder such things and wait for this column (‘Should I Spend Donuts on…’) before deciding, but for some reason, I jumped on this right away. So far, I haven’t regretted it. I designed a nice little landscape around it and I’m pleased the way it turned out.

On a side note, when I did add it, I didn’t receive the usual donut confirmation dialog. So I finally was bitten by an update that reset my setting for donut purchases confirmations. I quickly reset it back to ask me for confirmations again. I know with each update, someone here on the TSTO Addicts site reminds people to check their settings for this sort of thing. It has never happened to me before until this minor update. Thankfully I discovered it on something I was buying anyway and not on something I really didn’t want.

  14. How do you guys save up so many donuts I have 37 donut and I have been saving for a month

    • It depends on what you do, where you are at, etc.

    • I’ll break it down to you like this. My town currently has almost a 350% bonus towards money and xp, which means if I set Homer to “Attempt to Melt snow”, I will receive $4,468 dollars and 1,006 xp in stead of the normal $1,000 and 225 xp. Not all characters have a 24 hour task that gives out that much but you get my drift. All this means that I will gain money and xp fairly fast. Setting all my characters with 24 hour tasks, farming donuts, and investing said money in blood mobiles to level up even faster nets me more donuts than just saving what you receive for leveling up.

When I auto leveled to 45, I built the Ziffcorp sign and pretty much leveled to the gift box that gives you more donuts, and by my luck, got to open all three boxes (a total of 6 donuts). Just to give you an idea, I used to be a ravenous blue house farmer. My house count was 300+ and I clicked them 2 to 3 times a day for a couple months. I used all the money I had to jump up 3 levels and max out. In doing so I must have gained at least 100 donuts by repeatedly getting that gift box. So like bunny said, it depends on what you do, obviously if your 10 levels away from a 45 then you can easily do what I did and gain a lot of premium currency. Hope I helped ya!

  15. I think the only way to play if you’re a completist is to buy the 2400 or if Gil has a ‘day old donut’ deal or something for 3200 or $75, then that’s the best way. I’ve been playing for almost 2 years, probably spent a couple hundred dollars, which I sometimes question, but usually the Gil deal lasts me most of the year and it’s really the only game I play. I don’t own any game systems and TSTO keeps me busy during a commute or just relaxing. I do think EA could throw us all maybe 10 donuts a level and more opportunity to get random ones visiting friends. To make a long story short, you can earn a lot of donuts (like say Halloween, where I got about 100 last year) but if you really want premium characters and/or limited time items you kind of have to spend real world $$. Limited time gets me, I’m still bummed EA cost themselves money by screwing up during the Solid Gold House limited time. I really like the yard sale events and hope they have them more often. XP farming is good, but it won’t get you enough for a premium character IMO. Thanks as always Bunny, Alissa and Wookie for the time and effort you bring to this site. I always wonder how much real world $$ and time you guys spend on donuts 😉

  16. Going save mine for Halloween

  17. It is a cool building if you can afford it buy it……..Kristy needs a home

  18. What about Halloween coming up soon? Doesn’t really matter because I have 2 Donuts 🙂

  19. Short of flat out purchasing donuts how do you earn so many?
I just had 100 finally saved up over a 3 month period and spent it on a100 donut purchase.2 weeks later I’m up to a wooing 7 donuts! lol
Any way for the 100 donut purchase I think it’s a better deal that the Humgry Hun… earns as much money as the Mansion over th same time frame…
    I’m I missing something?

  20. So kind of off topic…but I spent $20 in game and got 300 donuts and then tried it again but it wouldn’t let me (something wrong with my card info) so I didn’t receive another 300 donuts but my bank charged me $40! Who would I contact for something like this? Thanks

  21. Does tuxedo krusty’s task at home pay at a premium or freemium rate? I just bought it too. Hope this is the last update for a while just got 830 donuts and pray I don’t spend EM all before Halloween.

  22. Applies to Vanity?!? That’s odd. Is it only 10 points?

I bought one. I needed another mansion for my wealthy district.

  23. I currently have 140 donuts. I’m leaning towards getting it but I hate being that low on donuts with Halloween coming up soon.

  24. This was well worth the donuts. But sadly, I have received the warning that I have reached 4500 decorations and buildings and that if I have performance issues I should stay at that number 🙁 I’m now at 4800 I believe so I have to cut down on my intricate designs. I’m on an iPad Air so hopefully I can squeeze in a simple thing. Does anyone know how far I can really go?

On a side note, I like the tuxedo Krusty and I think its great that he gets his own mansion.

    • My town pushed over 5000 then I was locked out of it for 3 months and they had to roll it back a month before that. So I lost a LOT. I would not suggest to push it. Try to put away small items or unused ones.

  25. I was excited to see another entry for “Millionaires Row”, so it was a fairly easy yes for me.

  26. Must…. save…. donuts…. for…. halloween….

  27. I bought it. it looks cool, i am waiting for sunday to see who dies
