Should I Spend Donuts on The Ray Gun? (And Where the Heck is It?!)

Halloween has arrived in Springfield!!!! WOO-HOO!  And, as usual, EA doesn’t disappoint!  We’ve got ourselves a fun update full of twists, turns, prizes and ALIENS!  And the best news?  Not a wheel or mystery box in sight!  Now, with all the new Premium Halloween Items it can be a bit overwhelming trying to decide what you should add to your Springfield and what you should save your donuts on…but have no fear!  That’s where we come in, to tell you what’s worth your donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Ray Gun (AND Kodos) to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button (or lack their of) let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this zapping duo to your Springfield!

Decoration/Character: Ray Gun/Kodos
Donut Price: 150 Donuts
How Do I Get it?: If you don’t already have Kodos from last year, once you’ve gone through the main tutorial of Halloween you’ll start to see Kodos in her spaceship flying around Springfield.  It’ll look like this…

To shoot her down you will need to purchase the Ray Gun.  If you opt not to purchase it you’ll see her flying around Springfield until Halloween is over.  (think of it as EA’s way of trying to convince you to spend the donuts on it)

Now, here’s where some of you are getting tripped up.  In order to buy the Ray Gun you’ll need to start some dialogue with Professor Frink (whether you have him or not) telling you want to do to knock her out of the sky.  However, in order for this dialogue to start you will need to have Cletus free because he’s the one who starts it (after all aren’t hillbillys usually the ones who see the UFO’s first? 😉 ).  Once you have Cletus free and he starts the dialogue, at that point the Ray Gun will appear in the shop.

SIDE NOTE FROM BUNNY: You get TWO Ray Gun pieces with this purchase. Both shown in images here. One is the crashed Kodos will be linked with. The other is a new one you can tap on to show animation of shooting. The new will be put in storage. Pull it out to earn ammo for Halloween event from it. (See PRO below)

Now let’s break down those pros and cons, shall we?

Pros:
-The ONLY way to unlock Kodos, you have to shoot her down.
-After you shoot her down she crashes into the Ray Gun & Frink gives you a new Ray Gun.  So it’s two decorations & a character for the price of 1.  Crashed UFO, Ray Gun & Kodos
-Limited-Time decoration.  Great for new tappers who have coveted it in their friends towns for the last year (or more)
-Ray Gun will earn you extra Ammo.  1 Ammo every 8hrs.
-Kodos comes with her own questline once unlocked.
-Kodos has a permanent task with Kang (remember you got him for free with this update 🙂 )
-Kodos premium character that pays out premium rates on all jobs.

Cons:
-Expensive.  At 150 donuts, this is one of the more expensive decoration/donut
combinations in the game.
-Kodos will not fly around anymore once you’ve shot him down.  Therefore,  you will not be able to shoot her down over and over with the Ray Gun.
-Pretty large.  With both the Crashed UFO & the Ray Gun they’ll take up quite a bit of space in your Springfield.
Final Thought:
While 150 donuts is quite a big price tag for an item/character, I personally think Kodos is worth it.  She’s a limited time character and a great addition to Springfield.  Plus the Ray Gun & Crashed UFO make really great additions to Springfield!  So if you can swing it, I say go for it!  To me, she’s worth the investment.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do, and this is one I got right away last year…and haven’t regretted it once in the time since.   Whatever you decide just remember, this is a Limited-time item…so if you’re thinking about it make sure you make your decision prior to the Halloween Event Leaving our games on November 12th!
