THOH Probe Prizes: Breaking Down the Mutant Peacock

Hey Howdy Hey Alien Squishing Tappers!

Well….unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that Halloween has arrived in Springfield!  A dark haze has over taken the streets of Springfield and Aliens are on the attack!  By now we’re all busy squishing and stopping those aliens dead in their tracks….and earning as many probes as we can!

With this event EA is trying something new (for them) and releasing items/prizes in phases.  Two prizes each phase, three phases, for a total of 6 prizes all together.  For the first phase, which lasts 12 days and ends 10/20, you can win 2 prizes by collecting Probes.  The first prize awarded at 3,250 Probes is the Mutant Peacock.

Let’s take a closed look at this showoff peacock, and just what happens when it enters your town…

Mutant Peacock 2

WARNING Mild Dialogue Spoilers Ahead

Once you’ve collected 3,250 Probes the Mutant Peacock will automatically be awarded to you and you’ll see this popup:

mutantpeacock

Much like Friendship Prizes, if you’re visiting a neighbor when you hit the 3,250 Probe mark this message will still popup and your Peacock will be waiting for you in your inventory once you get back to your Springfield.

The Mutant Peacock will be placed in your inventory, so you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve him.  (remember to check your entire inventory, characters tend to be at the end) Just tap on the “use” icon to place it in your Springfield:

Once in Springfield some minor dialogue with Lisa will popup (it won’t trigger until Lisa is free…so in between Trick Or Treating) with a simple task (don’t worry Lisa is NOT needed for the task)….

Lisa: Oh, a peacock.  Are you going to display your beautiful tail?  C’mon, don’t be shy.  Be proud!
Tap the Mutant Peacock

Lisa: Aaaah!  Put it away, put it away!  No one likes a show off!  Aaaah!

So here’s the deal with the Peacock:

-None Playable Character (NPC).  Will just roam around Springfield.
-If you don’t unlock him in the probe box you’ll have a chance to craft after the timer runs out.
-Animated.  When tapped he’ll display his Mutant tail
-Part of the THOH XXV Character Set
-Plays sound when tapped (hissing/screeching sound)
-When walking around your town he’ll look like just another peacock…no tail displayed.
Mutant Peacock

So that about covers all the details on this Freakish Peacock!

What do YOU think of the Mutant Peacock?  Have you unlocked him yet?  What do you think of his animation?  Thoughts on the way the prizes are setup this time around?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. Does anyone know what episode the peacock is from?

  2. I can’t figure out how to get the peacock? My husband got him after switching to ray gun but I am collecting the gun and I never won it from the probes. Anyone know what I should do?

  3. I love the way the event is set up this year, especially the phased release of prizes, but I can’t say I’m that thrilled with the prizes yet. The majority are just decorations that nobody really interacts with. I was hoping for some new characters, or at the very least some halloween related skins.

  4. Thought I’d mention that the spooky wall DOES give a nice 0.05% bonus. So this will be good to mop extra treats when the main prizes have gone. I’ve just got one and checked in storage. I asked a while back and I think Alissa said there was no bonus, so you might want to correct that. Keep up the good work guys, love the site.

  5. I think it would be cool if you could have hard borders/fences so you can set up say a zoo for all your animals, ditto with the cemetery & your zombies/zombie pets, Halloween critters etc

    • Don’t know if this would interest you – I’ve managed to trap a couple of characters on a platform made of boardwalk tiles but separate from the main boardwalk. Took forever – waiting for them to walk over there themselves and then methodically removing tiles so they’re forced to head where I wanted them – but they have stayed there, probably close to a month now.

  6. I love the way the prizes are setup this time around simply because you can attain the items through hard work or effort (albeit with some use of helpers such as the hunting license).

I don’t like when an event works on giving out prizes through spin the wheel, roll the dice, or “luck”. Sure the treat bags have some sort of chance system in place where items have a specific probability in appearing, but you can still collect enough to craft what you want through tapping (at least it looks like it so far).

I love the mutant peacock and not far from getting the donut torture device. I do have a question though: When the next phase of the event begins, will the hunting license still have a ‘multiplier’ effect on the ray guns and DNA strains?

  7. Don’t know if you’ve mentioned this already but I just got the Donut Torture Device and just like the Clash of Clones after getting all the prizes there is a silver bag for every 750 additional probes you earn nice incentive to get ahead and get all the prizes 🙂

    • We did. 😉

      Pretty cool

    • are you kiding? it is impossible to get donut torture device. I am playing 24/7 since the event started – and only have 3000probes. It is not event theoreticaly possible to get it wothout spending donuts..

      • Not impossible. Are you playing the right way? In order for it to work successfully you have to log into your town and tap at least 3 times a day….
Assuming 3 times a day, let’s just say every 6hrs. You tap when you wake up (6am), at lunch (12pm) and again when you get home (6pm). If you clear your town of Rigellians each time you log in there should be 72 of them there (they spawn 1 every 5min..so 12/hr). 72×3 (since you get 3 probes for each one in your town) is 648 Probes. Plus the 90 you get from friend actions is 738 probes/day. That doesn’t include extras you get from Grem-aliens, UFOs or Gift bags.

Even if you went in every 8hrs (6am,2pm,10pm) when you have to reset trick or treaters you’ll still be ok. Since you can have 50 in your town at once with a bank of 30…so that’s 80. As long as you clear them all that’s 240 probes/8hrs. 3times a day is 720 probes…not even including friend actions. Very doable…you just have to play.

If you’re only going to go in and tap once a day it’s definitely not achievable…no event is. If you want every prize you’ll have to actually go in and play to get it…

  8. Does anyone know if they have taken away the option to buy some of the items such as candy corn and gummy bears? Cant seem to find the options anymore.

  9. I love the mutant peacock mostly because when I tapped him the sound made my husband say “What on earth are you doing over there?!?” Then I showed him and got a truly awesome look from him.

  10. Is Hugo a Bart skin or a separate character? Will he have tasks?

  11. I’ve had the peacock for a while and I like it…it’s fun to tap it once in a while.

But I just got the donut torture device. LOVE IT!

  12. Hey I dont know if this has been answered before (sorry if it has been) but what hapens to Hugo and the Great Pumpkin after phase one is over and you havent got enough stuff to craft them? Do you get another chance at them or would it be worth using donuts to get them just before phase one is over? Thanks guys.

  13. I like tapping for a giggle here and there. Woulda been funny if they had made other characters react to it.

I’m now 1400 or so away from the torture machine. Excited to see what it does

  14. The peacock is hilarious. So far I like the phased prize system. They seem attainable with nothing more than diligent tapping. I’m about 2000 probes away from the Donut Torture Machine.

  15. Cute, but kind of a ‘meh’ prize. I also think they set the probe count a little too high for the doughnut torture machine. It should’ve been around 5-6k so that casual, new, and low friend-count people have a better chance of winning it. I know — it can be crafted later on — but I still think it ought to have been within reach of being earned by new-ish, casual and freemium players.

    • There is no reason to not have as many friends as you need. I like the prizes being harder people who play more should be rewarded differently than those who play more casually. I have a more than full time job and live in girlfriend a son and a step son oh and 4 cats and still fun plenty of time to tap.

  16. I love it awesome addition to my town, super excited about 800 probes from unlocking the donut torturer what a great event, unfortunately my girlfriend is a littly crabby over my adiction to the game lol

  17. I like it, but kind of a let down. I mostly wanted it for the Halloween display, but it doesn’t look very Halloween. Oh well nice to have for the character collection.

  18. I like him, but the green of his floppy tail looks a lot like those little green Rigilians, so he gets tapped a LOT!
