Crafting For Halloween: Hugo

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

So, one of the neat things about the Halloween update is that for the first time we can create our own little adventure…sorta.  With the introduction of the Make-A-Thing Shop we have the ability to create our own prizes, by picking and choosing what we want to make…and earning goodies accordingly.  (or in some cases earning goodies and choose what we want based on that)

Bunny gave us a great overview on earning, choosing and crafting…but now let’s take it all a step further and look at what happens when you craft and add the items to YOUR Springfield.

First up…let’s take a look at the “Good Son” Hugo…

Remember…crafting Hugo and running through his questline is what will unlock the Spooky House for you.  Details on the Spooky House and how to get it will be below as well…

WARNING Spoilers Below…including Dialogue

For those of you that don’t know…Hugo is Bart’s formerly conjoined twin brother, who was introduced to us in Treehouse of Horror VII.  Not to go into too much detail here, as we’ll have a full profile on him a little later on…but basically the Simpsons lock him in the Attic because they think he’s the evil one.

Anyway….Hugo is a full character in TSTO, not a skin for Bart or an NPC.  He comes with his own set of tasks and a full questline as well.

You’ll find Hugo in Make-A-Thing and can craft him by collecting the following:

Broken Fence300 Broken Fences
Rotten Egg300 Rotten Eggs
Candy Corn250 Candy Corns

Once you have all of those collected you’ll be able to Craft Hugo!  Once crafted you’ll see the following pop-up:

You can choose to use Hugo now (by placing him) or if you’re not quite ready you can store him in your Inventory as well until you are ready.  Once you’ve crafted him he’s yours forever….so even if you don’t use him right away he won’t disappear on you.

If you decide to use Hugo right away his questline will start up for you.  Here’s the full dialogue version of his questline:

Homer: Right, right.  I really should remember that.  Let me take you out to Krusty Burger, uh, son.
Hugo: All I eat are fish heads.  But I have extra, wanna join me for dinner?

  1. For as long as it took to save up for Hugo and the spooky house, I was a little disappointed the spooky house only produces a bronze bag every 24 hours, but I do really like Hugo.

  2. Loving Hugo and the Spooky House. I really wish there were more items added to craft though. I have 2 pumpkin houses, and everything else…so there isn’t much incentive for me to worry about collecting stuff as quickly except for the odd chance at scoring donuts or those Rigilian plants… Any chance there will be new stuff to craft?

  3. Hugo was the only thing I wanted from the crafting and is, so far, the only thing I’ve made. I’ll try and build him a Spooky House but those fences are proving rather elusive.
I guess I’ll leave it to the last minute and if I can’t build it by then, I’ll just have to craft some spooky walls and test subjects – not that I really want them.

Anyway, what ever happens I’m happy that I’ve got Hugo and happy he’s a fully-functioning character and here to stay.

  4. Well I’m pretty on target collecting probes…and going slow on items to craft stuff..but is anyone having the same problems NOT getting any ammo to shoot some UFO’s? its been 2 days since i got some..nothing in my bags..nothing from my aliens..ugh! I wanna shoot me some UFO!

  5. I love Hugo. He’s one of my all time favorite characters from Treehouse of Horror, and they really did a great job animating him. I only wish there were a task that involved Dr. Hibbert.

“As you know, the evil twin will have a scar on the left, or ‘sinister’ side. Wait a minute…”

  6. Crafted Hugo just after phase 2 started. I’m a freemium player and getting the items necessary to craft him seemed fairly easy. Not sure I will ever be able to craft the pumpkin. I only have 150 choc bars and we are pretty much half way through this event. Curious if others have achieved the pumpkin without spending donuts.
Choc bars also needed to craft the spooky house. :(.

  7. What’s the point of the nails…every time I get enough nails it says you have crafted a new item where are these so called items …

  8. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’m getting sick of seeing the Gummy Bears. It seems like the fences and eggs take an incredibly long time to collect, and yet the gummy bears, which have very little practical use, are dropping like crazy. I’ve got not quite 300 fences (can’t wait to get the last couple and start the spooky house), but I’ve got almost 1800 gummy bears! I think that’s ridiculous.

  9. Hugo is weird… I think I missed him in the Simpsons tv episodes. It’s taking forever to craft the Spooky House… But I’m trucking along

  10. Kinda hoping they do more with this character, seeing as him and the Spook House are on the top of everyone’s craft list, and his quest line is just… Really sad. Here’s going for some happiness to come his way, maybe at Thanksgiving there’ll be a “Family Dinner” task and if you have Hugo, he can go too? That’d be kind of heartwarming.

  11. I can’t get him taking too long crafing him :-/

  12. I made Hugo my crafting priority because I love that episode. Working on the Spooky House, but it is sloooooow going. I don’t think it is going to be possible for me to craft many items, I can’t get the drops I need. I get plenty of useless nails though.

I really like Hugo, I just wish he had some more exciting outside missions, I hardly ever get to actually see him.

  13. I LOVE the combination of items needed to craft Hugo! Candy corn…gross.

I also really like the look of the spooky house, and despite it not being a unique item, I only plan to craft one. It will be unique in my town.

  14. I’ve had him since the end of phase one and the animation for his 12 hour job is just hilarious. He was totally worth all the broken fences.

  15. Love his walk the Pigeon Rat task! It’s fun to see the animal fly and run in circles.

  16. Hugo seems kind of sad and out of place, given the lighthearted nature of TSTO. I am happy to finally be building the Spooky House now, though. Next up (and a loooong time off), the Grand Pumpkin!

  17. The spooky house uses some of the same ingredients as the pumpkin. For me this is frustrating. I hate having to choose between two items that I really want especially since it seems to take forever to get enough to craft even one of the two. Nothing you can do just me venting a little. FYI, you and Bunny are doing a great job handling everything while the Wookiee is busy with school and work.

    • I know..I went through the same thing. But in the end I went with the Spooky House because it can earn more Bronze Treat bags…and advantage I’d like to see for as long as possible in my town 🙂

And thanks! We certainly miss him, that’s for sure! Tell Wookiee we expect him to pull triple duty over Christmas! 😉

    • Same here… I really want the spooky house, but at the same time I just can’t miss a Peanuts parody such as the grand pumpkin 😀

  18. Love this one! Walk the pigeon rat is hilarious!
