Bunny’s Favorite Halloween

Again this is a “rerun” of a post we posted last Halloween…but our Favorite moments and episodes haven’t changed.  So we thought we’d have fun sharing this with you guys!  

EEEEEEEEEEEE Halloween!!! The tricks, the treats, the candy, the tricks, the costumes, the scaring the heck out of anyone and everyone I can, and the tricks.

Halloween to me has always been such an awesome holiday, more so than Christmas. I blame my Dad for this one. The guy had an amazing sense of humor. Always making people laugh, entertaining, and just being his goofy self. Remind you of anyone? He owned a construction business and was always building and creating things to amuse me and the other neighbor kids. One of my favorites, the haunted houses. These were not your standard tossed together make shift home made haunted houses. Many months of preparations went into these. Being in the building business, he and his buddies went all out in the design. Electricity, hidden passages, trap doors, just completely amazing. I loved it. So much so that after his work took him away more and more, I enlisted the help of the other neighborhood boys and started creating my own haunted houses.

Overtime these grew to be the neighborhood thing each year. We charged 50 cents a kid to let them go through our creations. Unfinished basement gave us quite a great layout to work with. Not to mention we had 10 acres of farmland to extend into. The hay bales turned into mazes, the old barn haunted, the underground root cellar…well let’s just say any kid that entered ran out screaming. LOVED IT!

In my teens, I was enlisted by one of the biggest haunted houses in the city to help create and design the theme for the season. 3 years of doing that. Best. Job. EVER! People lined up for miles to go through it. Many put in applications months in advance just to work there. Sadly the land was sold after the owner passed, all the buildings torn down to make way for new businesses, and the best haunted house in the city was no more. To this day, I still love creating fun horror to scare the heck out of people. Yah, I’m crazy…you knew this. 🙂

Now as for the Simpsons, to ask me to pick just ONE Halloween episode that is my favorite…very difficult. So many good moments over the years. I guess the one that still gives me laughs to this day is “The Shinning” from Treehouse of Horror V.

For the way they had to say it to avoid copyright infringement (I still say it the Simpson way), the amusing story itself, and the fact that the original movie brought me much laughter at my Mom’s expense. REDRUM! (Poor lady probably still hates mirrors to this day…and a devious lil child that ruined many of her lipsticks.)

Could also be that Bunny is just a tad borderline crazy herself? If you haven’t seen the original movie, The Shining w/Jack Nicholson, or the Simpsons version…you really must watch both.

To sum it up, scary haunted motel (LOVE IT…I want to stay there). Family stranded with no way out (typical storyline). Someone goes completely mad (no, not me…this time).

Lots of running scared and screaming while the crazy one tries to kill them all (Hehehehehehe).

No one really knows what happened in the end (leaves room for the sequel, right?)

Now I am off to see what tricks I can conjure up and treats I can acquire, so you better be nice to anybunny you come across. 🙂
