It’s Halloween time in Springfield! Leaves are falling, there’s a dimness to our towns, something is floating in the water…oh and items from Halloween Past have returned to our stores!
As with Halloweens past (and other events) EA has decided to make old items new again, and give players who might have missed out on something a second chance to get it. Of course that second chance doesn’t come with out a price, as many of the returning items that were once free are now premium.
Recently EA brought back a few more items from 2013/2014, Victorian UFO, #51, and the Twirl n Hurl. Now many of you are curious if any of these items are worth your hard earned donuts, and we’ve broken a lot of these down for the previous events…however we decided it’d be great to give them another look in a Halloween Should I Buy reboot post!
So now let’s take a look and see if these items are worth YOUR donuts!
This will run a little different than our typical Should I Buy posts. Basically I’ll give you a quick overview, some pros and cons & my opinion on it now…but I’ll also link you to the previous Should I Buy for more insight…
Let’s get started with…the Victorian UFO & #51 Combo

Cost: 120 Donuts for the Combo (Cost will vary depending what you already have)

-Really cool looking Steam Punk-esque style UFO
-Both Kang and Kodos have one two tasks they can use with it.

-An additional singer at the Stonecutter’s Table (if you own it)
Cons
-Kind of pricey by itself as far as Premium Characters go
Final Thought
I loved both of these the first time around. In my opinion, they make a great combo purchase as you are getting a usable item and a usable Character both paying out Premium rates.

Cost: 150 Donuts

How Did You Get it Before: Halloween 2013 Game Currency Personal Prize/ 6500 Goo Earned
What Does it Do: Animated Attraction for Krustyland
Pros
-Looks cool as another fun ride in your Krustyland
-Now Premium paying tasks for the several Characters with a 16 hr task for it
-Earns 120 Tickets & 45XP Every 24 hours
-Item resembles an actual ride at Universal
Cons
– Pricey donut item for something once earned from game play/free
– In Krustyland where many do not go much more.
Final Thought
Personally…this was a pass for me. I was happy to win it last year, but I do not see myself as willing to pay its steep price this year.
So that sums up all of the…”I’ve never seen them, they’re new to me” premium items part 3! Keep in mind these are LIMITED TIME. EA has not released the date as when they are pulling them, so grab them while you can.

I didn’t get the Victorian UFO or #51 last year (did both events but didn’t achieve them) and now in the store I just see the UFO for 40 donuts (not a combo, no mention of #51, no separate sale of #51). I’m hesitant to spend donuts and possibly not get the character. Can someone please clarify for me, am I missing something?
Number 51 does not come with it.

If I remember correctly he was always an independent buy with Stonecutters, never associated with the ship or Halloween
I ended up getting the UFO & #51 combo today.. I think it was a good buy and I’m glad I went for it. the Ufo looks good next to my alien crash site behind the future location of Frinks lab and after passing up on #51 once I’m glad I didn’t this time around.
what are you guys spending candy on? im thinking walls since they give an overall % boost. spooky house looks pretty good next to the farm so i might pick up an extra one. already have 2 pumpkins and the gold treat bags seem like a waste (more candy to buy more items? just buy it in the first place)
I already have Victorian UFO and Kang but wasn’t offered Kodos. I think it’s odd that the theme is Alien and yet I can’t get Kodos, or that there is an Alien Maggie for that matter, apart from the cruel tease on opening page.
Kodos should have been flying around your town if you have been completing the questline. Buying the Ray gun shoots her down.
That is not Maggie on open screen. It is a Rigellian on Lisa’s face taking the form of her face.
I was sure I’d seen kodos in her peace outfit in another town and also drinking hilarium alongside Kang….must be going crazy…but I’m pretty sure that is Alien Maggie on Lisa as Lisa’s head can be seen peeking out well below what seems to be Maggie’s star hair shape.
You have to shoot her down to get her and the tasks.

When does the Victorian ufo and twirl become available? I’ve been watching as I’ve wanted them both and they’ve never been availible to purchase.

FINALLY I have the Twirl n Hurl!!! Now my KL is complete. (save for the elves, uh no). And the Victorian UFO to boot? Thanks EA! I know some feel that the re-release of items diminishes from their value but obviously if people like me are willing to pay to get the Springfield of my dreams than it’s worth it. Happy Tapping!
I ‘really’ wanted the Twirl and Hurl. It was the one item I wanted this event and I was so excited to see it until I saw the totally unreasonable price. EA gouges people so hard for money in any game they make. I really don’t like EA…. Needless to say, I won’t be getting it.
I didn’t realize that the older stuff (cemeteries, skeleton tree) would disappear. I was waiting until I got all the new prizes to design 🙁

I saw the Victorian UFO several times in other towns during the Clash of Castles event and really like the design. It would fit well in my “Area 51” with the Ray Gun and Kodos’ crashed UFO. But since it comes with premium character I have no connection with, the price ended up too steep for me.
It’s really disappointing that EA does not recognize loyal customers. I was one of the people who purchased number 51 during the Stone Cutters event for 100 donuts. I have also wanted the VUFO since I missed it last year. (Started playing shortly after last Christmas) So I was excited to see that if you owned 51 the VUFO would be available by itself. However instead of costing the 20 donuts I figured it would, it cost 40. So EA is telling us the combo is worth 120 donuts, UNLESS you bought 51 earlier, then it’s worth 140… If anything it should be cheaper for people who have already made half of the premium purchase you re offering… I dunno, I don’t usually get annoyed at these games, but this one really grinds my gears! (Wrong game I know lol) That is all.
So, not really sure where to put this. But I went to a friends town and instead of a ufo, the helicopter guy in his copter flew on the screen. I tried tapping it, nothing happened. But when I moved the screen, it followed as does ufos for this event. Any ideas?

That would be Arnie Pye (Premium Character) on one of his tasks. Just there for looks. It is a cool thing to watch in your town.
Does anyone know if there’s a cap on the board and nail weapon you can upgrade for the tap tap tappin the aliens? I’m up to 395 and I see no difference really since level 100 in the radius. Just wondering if there is in fact a cap to it.

OMG… How did you get tens of thousands of nails for that? I thought I was doing pretty good with a level 21 board (I have almost all of the premium trick or treat characters).
150??? Wowzers! That’s crazy, it is an awsome looking design and something I want to add to my Krustyland but for that I’ll have to pass. At 100 pink sprinkles i’d confirm the donut spend.
Do you know if there will be anything new to craft before the end? I’ve been hoarding candy, but will spend it on spooky walls for my Halloween area if I don’t need them for anything else. Thanks!

I am getting a message that I have reached maximum boardwalk selections. Is there a way to,get more? I noticed some other towns have more?
Nope. That is it. There was a glitch a long time back that allowed people to get a few more, but as soon as they Nuke their town…the extras disappear.
I snatched up the Victorian UFO right away (only 40 donuts since I already had #51) as I had been waiting for it for so long. I wish there was a bonus percentage attached to it or at least a little animation when tapped… or even a sound effect, but nothing …other than the added tasks for Kang and Kodos. It still looks very cool though.
The Twirl n Hurl is another item I had been waiting for… but jeesh, 150 donuts? It’s hard to bring me around to spend so many donuts for something for Krustyland since like many others, I don’t go there as often as I used to these days. I’m leaning towards it, but I’m officially still on the fence about it. Unfortunately, I don’t have too much time to decide (assuming it will be pulled on Monday at 4AM Eastern as was the case with other weekend additions).
Woohoo! Just tappin’ in to tell ya all to tap those UFOs!! . I just received 30 big pink ones….yeah donuts….. yeah 30! I don’t believe I’ve received that many from one tap ever before. Sweet EA is finally getting a bit looser with them. Yesterday I got 20 from getting the one and only Mr Matt G. woohoo. Thank you EA. Makes it a bit easier to get those items a bit more pricey.
I think instead of reducing their prices EA are giving donuts away a lot more. I had 202 and bought the Ray Gun, and now I am almost at 202! I have 196 that’s a gain of 144 donuts from friends’ Rigellians, treat bags, 60 from UFO’s and 20 from tasks and it seems Matt Groening is going to give me 20 more! Though did anyone get anything for free on Halloween itself – last year we all got a free wailing wall
Victorian UFO was only 40 for me since I have Number 51, so it was a no-brainer. I don’t understand why the Twirl & Hurl is so darned expensive. Will probably pass on that. As a side note, I probably would never have noticed that these items were available, since I got no notice in the game, so thanks for that.

I agree with pureval. The Twirl n Hurl was on my list for items I hoped to pick up during THOH. But, yikes, 150 donuts!! I am gonna have to think real hard about this one. I passed on number 51 before because of his price, and it looks like I will again. But it would be nice to have a complete quartet at the stonecutters’ table. I have enjoyed this event and even got two pumpkin houses instead of one. 🙂
Disappointed no Raven, First Church of Lard Lad and Strong Man Homer! 51 isn’t even a Haloween item, he is a Stonecutter! Well…..I guess we can’t have it all!

#51 is the only one of the three I do not have, but I don’t think he’s worth 100 donuts. To bad if he was cheaper I would have considered it.
I wish EA didn’t put number 51 with the UFO, personally I find it doesn’t even go with the THOH event. It’s too steep a price for me who just wanted to buy the UFO, would have rathered if EA brought lad lard and the raven…gonna pass on these items
Darn. I have been dying to get that Twirl n Hurl, but that is WAY too steep for it. If it was 60 I would have snapped it up. 90 would have thought, but probably gone for it. 150? No thank you. I would rather get something that comes with a character for that. Sigh.

I think if EA wants people to use their Krustylands more, they (EA) should make the premium items for it significantly less expensive.
