Should I Spend Donuts on Guitar Central?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Right in the middle of the Thanksgiving Update, a new little Episode Tie-In has arrived in Springfield!  Personally, I love episode tie-ins.   They’re short, sweet and get me excited for a new episode of The Simpsons!  And this one is no exception! And with the Cover Craft episode tie-in comes a brand new premium building for our Springfields, Guitar Central!

Now,with the “limited-time” label on it I’m sure you’re asking ‘Quick!  Should I Spend Donuts on This?’ Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this big box music super store to YOUR Springfield!

Guitar Central

Building: Guitar Central
Donut Price: 50 donuts
Dimensions: 4×12
Payout:
$135,15xp Every 4hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +10

Pros:
-Reasonably priced for a premium building
-Animation when in use (spotlights on the roof light up and spin), also plays music when tappded)
-Boosts consumerism, one of the hardest to max out.
-Unlocks the rest of the Cover Craft walkthrough..
-Unlocks a 2hr task for Otto.

Cons:
-Beyond the questline no freemium characters have interaction with it.  (only Otto, who’s premium)
– Bright color, could be hard to fit into Springfield (it’ll certainly stand out)
– Long building.  It’s only 4 in width..but 12 long.  Could be hard to fit into certain areas of town.

Final Thought:
Personally, I think this is a good buy (especially if you already have Otto).  It’s got a decent payout, reasonably priced,  helps with consumerism & a character as a task there (even if it is a premium character).  However, if you’re low on donuts this might be something you want to pass on, especially with Christmas around the corner.  You never know what else might be limited-time!

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do.  And I can tell you this is one I pulled the trigger on this one.  However, whatever you decide, just remember this IS Limited-Time and will leave our games on Tuesday 11/25…so make your final purchasing decisions before Tuesday so you don’t miss out!

What are YOUR thoughts on Guitar Central?  Thoughts on the questline?  How about the episode tie-in?  Are you ready for a new Simpsons this weekend?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. Watch out. The questline for this is super long and annoying.

    • If you never send homer on the 7th task, you get a permanent premium one-hour task for nearly all the (adult) characters.

  2. I have never been offered guitar central. Do I have to complete a task to get it?

  3. Had a hard time… Typos drive me crazy, should’ve spell checked.

I just bought it. I ha a hat time deciding. I get very skimpy when it comes to spending my donuts since in a freemium player. I’ve never splurged and actually bought anything except the Homer Buddha many many times. I’m glad with my decision. I’m a musician so I felt I should buy this item. I’m not necessarily new (level 41), but I haven’t been around since last Xmas. I hope I didn’t make a bad decision. I still have 55 donuts left. Not sure what that will buy me that everyone is so excited for with Xmas coming up. I guess I’ll find out!

  5. i got it – now i’m down to 3 donuts. i think this game is nearing the end for me… i’ll pick up some freebies at christmas and then just tune in occasionally after that . was fun while it lasted 🙂

  6. I went for it. It looks pretty, it’s not a bad price for a premium building, and a boost to consumerism is always welcome. Looks good in my mall area, even though I had to do a bit of juggling to fit it in! The only downside was the possibility of needing the donuts at Christmas…but hey ho. May as well live dangerously 😉

  7. Argh…the pressure… I hate limited-time items! Really tempted to get this, but I don’t have a ton of donuts and I’m a freemium-only player, and the Christmas event is coming up (not to mention the tease we just got about new stuff all next week)….. Argh…what to do, what to do?!…..🙀

  8. I needed the consumerism boost so I got it. I haven’t decided on a final location for it yet. I actually like the unusual shape and color. Thanks for the info.

  9. You all say till Tuesday but I’m sure that when it was offered to me it said until Sunday. I could be wrong but I’m almost positive because that’s why I bought it right away.

    • There were a few different pop ups. Sunday was the tie-in episode. The pop up actually says Monday…which means…all day Monday up to 8GMT Tuesday early morning.

  10. I think its really cool, but Christmas is coming up & there seems to be a lot of hype around the annual TSTO event. I started during in February this year, so I didn’t get any of the different holiday decorations and what not. If this year, however, follows the pattern of the Halloween one. It’ll be 75% reintroducted items. The only thing I’ve seen from previous years that I would be looking forward to are Costington’s, and the SantaHomer who rides the sleigh across the screen. I am freemium, I do spend my earned donuts. At currently a bit over 100 left, the Guitar Centre is available. Yet, ‘Will I have enough for Christmas?’ is what I wondering.

  11. Got it. Fit perfect next to Honest John’s Computers ^_^ Now consumerism is almost 5 stars

  12. Agreed. Worth getting. Well priced and good return on donut investment.

  13. If Sammy Hagar came with it, I’d buy it without even thinking about it (I’m a longtime fan of Van Halen, including the Hagar years, and I can’t wait to see what he does in this week’s episode 🙂 ). Without Sammy, and also with no Otto in my town for the foreseeable future, this doesn’t make much sense for me. Thanks for the writeup – as a freemium player, it’s not often that I need to think about whether or not to buy something (as 99% of the time, the answer is “no”), so this certainly made my decision easier.

  14. otto task is an inside task?

  15. I bought it. It’s a nice one to get for the price
