Should I Buy….Thanksgiving Rewind!

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Turkey time in Springfield! Leaves have changed colors, Puritan Flanders & Sacagawea Lisa have arrived in town…oh and Thanksgiving is back in our TSTO Stores!

As with Thanksgivings past (and other events) EA has decided to make old items new again, and give players who might have missed out on something a second chance to get it.  Of course that second chance doesn’t come with out a price, as many of the returning items are premium.

Recently EA brought back several items from 2013 and 2012, Caesar’s Pow Wow Casino, Casino Sign, Tribal Chief & Thanksgiving Day Balloons.  Now many of you are curious if any of these items are worth your hard earned donuts, and we’ve broken a lot of these down for the previous events…however we decided it’d be great to give them another look in a Thanksgiving Should I Buy reboot post!

So now let’s take a look and see if these items are worth YOUR donuts!

thanksgiving should i buy

This will run a little different than our typical Should I Buy posts.  Basically I’ll give you a quick overview, some pros and cons & my opinion on it now…but I’ll also link you to the previous Should I Buy for more insight…

Let’s get started with…the Thanksgiving Balloons

stampyparadeballoon_menu thegrumpleparadeballoon_menu thanksgivingballoonsnowball2_menu

Decorations: Premium Thanksgiving Balloons
Cost: 15-40 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Thanksgiving 2012 & 2013
How Did You Get it Before: Premium
What Does it Do: Decorations for your Springfield (Springfield only.  Cannot go to K-land).  Each Balloon earns bonus %s.  They are not unique so you can have as many as you like.

Pros
-Each earns a decent bonus %
-Animated, they float in the “wind”
-Adds some fun character to your games when you decorate.  (I’ve got the Grumple in my Christmas Area)

Cons
-Just decorations.  No task or character interaction associated with them.

Final Thought
Personally some of these are worth the donuts if you have them.  I own all of them, which I purchased last Thanksgiving, but do not plan on buying more.  If you have a place in mind for them I say go for it…at least with the less expensive ones.

Combo: Caesar’s Pow-Wow Casino/ Tribal Chief
Cost: 150 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Thanksgiving 2013
How Did You Get it Before: Premium
What Does it Do: Typical Character & building Combo.

Pros
-Comes with a long questline
-Building boosts Consumerism
-Chief will use the Casino after questline is over.

Cons
-Expensive Combo for a character that’s not really a mainstay in The Simpsons
-No character interaction after questline is complete.

Final Thought
I own this combo.  I purchased it last year and love having the Casino in my Springfield.  It’s got a lot of features to it that make it a nice addition to Springfield AND it’s something different in your town (makes a nice addition along the beach front).  If you have the donuts I say go for it, but if you’re a little hesitate I can understand you wanting to wait just a bit.

caesarspowwowcasinosign_menu

Decoration: Caesar’s Pow-Wow Sign
Cost: 40 Donuts
First Introduced to TSTO: Thanksgiving 2013
How Did You Get it Before: Premium
What Does it Do: Decoration for Springfield.  Earns bonus %  (this is Unique, only 1 per Springfield)

Pros
-A 2% bonus on all cash and XP
-Animated.  The cowboy’s arm moves up and down.

Cons
-Sign for the Indian Casino.  If you don’t plan on getting the Casino doesn’t really fit in.

Final Thought
I own it and have since last Thanksgiving.  The bonus rate on this is quite high, and definitely one of the higher bonus rates per donut spent in the game.  If you plan on purchasing the casino this makes a nice addition to it…however something I’d pass on without the casino.

Previous Post On it

So that sums up all of the…”if you haven’t seen them, they’re new to you” premium items!

What do YOU think of the items?  Have you purchased any?  Have some from previous Thanksgiving?  Any advice on what to buy for TSTO Noobs?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we LOVE hearing from you!

  1. I have nearly everything in the game but can’t seem to find the Casino sign. I didn’t get it the first time around. Any ideas?

  2. I’ve got the same problem as Tiana.

I’ve got Puritan Flanders but not the option in store to purchase any of the thanksgiving items.

It was initially there as a separate tab but has since vanished.

    Any ideas?

  3. I’ve been waiting since the update for the Thanksgiving stuff to show up in my store and it’s still not there. I’ve looked all over. I’ve done every quest to date relating to thanksgiving. So why isn’t the Thanksgiving stuff showing up?

  4. I bought Ceasars but the quests never triggered. He just had every job available from the beginning and no ! ever showed up. I just make him do that spirit quest job over and over…

  5. I have to give a special shout out to The Grumple Balloon. For anyone looking just to boost their Conformity bonus, 25 donuts for 2% is the best deal I think I’ve ever seen. Stampy, for comparison, is 40 donuts for 2%, which is more the going rate, while Snowball2 is only 15 donuts, but a measly 0.5% bonus.

Balloons can be placed on Squidport. You can tuck Grumple behind a tall building off season and still enjoy the bonus.

You read my mind. The Grumple Balloon is a steal, relatively speaking. Look at this way: the Mayflower only gives you a 3% boost for 100 donuts, but if you spent those same donuts on 4 Grumple Balloons you’d get an 8% boost. Definitely buy if you have the donuts to spare.

  6. Really like the new items, I’m one of those who started a few months ago so missed many of the older limited time items. I appreciate that they bring them back so that we’re able to get them, even if they come at a premium price.

I bought all of them, but wish the balloons could be placed in Krusty Land. Seems like a better place to have these float.

  7. Nevermind, works now.

  8. Hi guys, I don’t know what’s wrong with my game, but I can’t see any of the thanksgiving items except for mrs bouvier and piggly wiggly’s. Is there supposed to be a thanksgiving tab somewhere in the store? I’ve gone through the puritan Flanders quest line until you get the cornucopia. Any ideas what could be wrong?
