Elf Bell Prizes: Breaking Down the Annual Gift Man

Hey Howdy Hey My Elfish Tappers!

Well….unless you’ve been partying a little too hard you know that Elves have taken over Springfield!  Elves work hard and party even harder…so much so that even Santa bailed on Springfield!  It’s your job to contain the Elves and send them back to the North Pole.  In doing so you’ll earn Elf Bells..which will give you some awesome prizes!

With this event EA is repeating a similar prize structure to what they did for Halloween, only more prizes, and releasing the event (and prizes) in stages.  For the second phase, which lasts until the event ends (Jan 13th), you can win 8 prizes by collecting Elf Bells.  The Fifth prize awarded at 10,100 Bells is the Annual Gift Man.

After you’ve won it some dialogue between Bart and Comic Book Guy will popup & you’ll be prompted with a minor task.  Here’s the full rundown:

Annual Gift Man

Bart: Cool, a robot Santa.
Comic Book Guy: Don’t be silly.  A robot Santa would be absurd.  This is a Japanese character called “Annual Gift Man”.  He lives on the moon, delivers presents to children and fights giant monsters in Tokyo with his rocket launchers.  Much more sensible.
Tap Annual Gift Man

Completed Task Earns 100 Elf Bells and 10XP

So here’s the deal with the Annual Giftman:

-An NPC for Springfield
-No quests or tasks
-Part of the Winter 2014 Character Collection
-He is animated when tapped.

So that about covers all the details on this monster fighting, moon living, gift giving, robotic Santa!

  1. Well I’m agility of cannon and elf tunnel being far apart only because to put cannon near my xmas area would mean buying more land and I thing the cannon fits better beside my clash of clones castle the cannon isn’t very christmassy

I mean you no disrespect in this request–I see how much time and effort you put into this site–but could you possibly stop sending out multiple “new posts” with identical opening paragraphs? Could you perhaps start new posts with what’s actually new, rather than with material you’ve already sent half a dozen times? Thanks for considering it.

    • We have thousands of posts we put out and there are some we try to keep very specific in details so readers can go right to the info without reading through a ton of content to get there. You may seem similarities in the opening in these kind of posts. It helps them flow better when writing about over 1000 different items that all require the same details. It was done per reader feedback.

Other posts that are more adventurous and individual will have their own flow and openings as they are unique and not part of a larger whole. Hope that makes sense. Thanks though for the suggestion. 🙂

  3. Annual Gift man is a bore. Do not recall the character and he does nothing and is only a seasonal character. How many different versions of Santa do we need?

    • Wookiee has posted a “Where did that come from” article on the Annual Gift Man. Personally, I think he’s kinda cool — and he will stick around after Christmas. As someone said below, however, I also wish there was a way to set his roaming area to just hang out in my holiday corner instead of joining everybody else in town. (The same goes for Frosty the Hitman and other seasonal NPCs.)

  4. This might seem a little off topic but I’m having a strange problem… I can log on perfectly fine on my iPod but when I try to log on my ipad (which has the exact same account) it bartscreens me. I’m really fed up with this and if anybody know of a possible fix please tell me

    • Could be a connection issue with your iPad. I suggest turning off your wifi and then turning it back on on your iPad. See if that helps you connect.

    • I am on an Android device, and it is the same issue. It is more frequent now than before Xmas. I contacted EA about it and they pretty much blamed my device. When I queried further, they came back and blamed the wifi connection. This doesn’t make sense to me, because way back when if you didn’t have a good wifi connection I received a different screen saying so.

I asked them to keep looking into the issue, because it is affecting more people (I am seeing a lot of similar complaints all over this site and others). Not certain if they will or not. But I am wondering if it is something residual from the Xmas day issues: wonky server that isn’t replaced but only patched so if you hit that one, things won’t work?

  5. Now that I have completed every task besides upgrading the cannon (it takes forever to collect cogs) I don’t get a lot of bells. Is the only way to collect more to visit friends, shot the canon and tap the mine? Is it actually getting harder to collect bells towards the end of the event? That would be a first for me.

  6. NPCs should add something, imo, even if it’s only a token amount to help the Conform-O-Meter.
BTW – I just got the island. What a disappointment. Takes up loads of expensive water space and only helps vanity – the easiest thing to max out on. If you’re struggling to make it to the final prizes, you’re not missing out on much.

    • Maudlin Monarch.

Thanks for your opinion of the island, Swiss!
I’ve steadily fallen behind the quota as every trio of cannon fires completely depletes my elf inventory. If I decide to wait 6 hours to get a full set for the 3 taps (36 elves), I can get 4 full turns every day at the most. According to my calculations I should the island in about 12 days… yeah.

I missed out on the Nativity Scene as well, so I’m not really worried. MEH.

  7. Some of the players keep their canons and elves house so far apart and make it so difficult for me to locate them. I wonder why they don’t help themselves by helping us.

    • Yea, that’s pretty annoying

      • Yah. I just went through my neighbors and had at least ten or fifteen neighbors that had them really far apart. I had one neighbor who may have actually boxed their elf tunnel. Couldn’t find it to save my life. I keep mine right next to each other to help my neighbors and myself.

  8. His actions when tapped crack me up! Pew pew! Flop. Boing.

  9. I received this guy but disappeared from my inventory and cant find him :c

    • Double check your inventory. Also possible he’s wandering around and you don’t see him, he’s kinda small-ish. If truly missing, contact EA and they should be able to hook you right up.

  10. I thought I read somewhere that Elves were supposed to show up in town at a rate of 12 per hour. For the past 2 days (or longer), I have only been getting 6 per hour. I went from being on pace to get about 5000 extra bells to being on pace to barely make the final prize. Does anybody know anything about this? Thanks.

  11. I need 302 more bells to be don-diddly-on with this event! Woohoo!

  12. I’m doing okay on the steady accumulation of bells in all three of my Springfields (on schedule according to the helpful calendar here), but I don’t see how the heck it’ll be possible in any of them to max out the elf cannon levels. The elves just aren’t dropping enough cogs.

  13. Annual Gift Man is great and all but if I had one request, its that I’d like to be able to lock a npc in one spot so they would stop some of their incessant roaming about my town. A.G.M. would look cooler if he was in a pen with some reindeer, at least in my town anyway.

    • Ohh kinda like the NPC from CoC? I think that would be a cool idea too.

    • Maudlin Monarch.

      LOL!

You just reminded me how I managed to get the Barbarian “trapped” within the walls of his castle compound. A couple hours later, he was still pacing back and forth.
Yet, when I tried doing a similar thing to the Egg Council Guy, he just phased though the brick wall, walked on the ocean, and onto a part of my Squidport.

  14. Booooring especially since we received him AFTER Christmas.

  15. I don’t mine NPC when they’re free, adds character to your Springfield. I mean, I’d love at least one task more money, but can’t complain. 🙂

    • As a retuning player from 2012 I have to say A.G.M. is my favourite event exclusive character. And he will always be in our Springfield! 😉
