Christmas in Springfield has come and gone! But Winter is still sticking around! And with the couple of new Winter premium items that are limited-time it may be overwhelming trying to decide which items to buy and what to pass on. With that limited-time label on items I know it can be tempting to just buy everything you can but, have no fear! That’s where we come in to tell you what’s worth your donuts & what you might want to hold off on.
Wondering if you should add the Ice Palace to your Springfield? Well before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the Pros and Cons of adding this chilly castle to your Springfield.

Conform-O-Meter: Indolence +10
Size: 12×10
Pros:
-Comes with a questline
-Ice Princess Martin will use this (remember he was free with the first phase of Christmas)
-Earns at a fairly decent rate.
-Improves Indolence.
-Animated when in use
Cons:
-Pricey
-Fairly large building could be hard to fit into your space
-Once Winter is over (ie snow leaves) might look out of place in your town
-It’s possible it might melt when Spring hits (like the Snowmen and ice sculpture)
Final Thought:
Personally this is one I grabbed. Can’t help but giggle at all the Frozen references. I like having a use for Ice Princess Martin & I like the look of the castle in my town. (of course it helps that I’m a Disney nut 🙂 ) Although at 120 donuts it is a fairly steep price & it might be something you’ll want to pass on. Especially with no knowing what will happen once Spring hits our games.
Of course in the end we can’t tell you what to do, we can only guide you and let you know what WE would do. And in this case…I did pull the trigger on this one. Whatever you decide just remember…this is a limited-time item. So be sure to make your decision before it disappears from our stores forever! (especially if it’s something you don’t want to Let Go!)

What’s the deal with the Ice Princess Martin task not going away? If would seem others are experiencing this problem. Is there any way to get rid of this task aside from buying the no longer available item?

Considering that we have to buy the Ice Palace for donuts, and not merely for a few, I think it would be a giant rip-off if the Ice Palace melts completely. There needs to be a disclaimer attached to items that are destined to disappear. Granted, at this point we don’t know for sure that the entire palace will melt away; However, it’s starting to look a little scary, and I am very disappointed. Also, it’s helpful for us to visit sites with opinions about what to buy and what not to buy; but even your site is unable to give us definitive answers about the Ice Palace. Since the game does not advise us to visit other sites to get opinions from people such as yourself, again, it is important that Tapped Out advise us of items that will vanish before we pay for them. I have only been playing a couple years, but this is the first big disappointment I have encountered with Tapped Out.
The ice palace did not melt last year when the snow went away. I’d expect the coding to remain the same.

I didnt buy it because i did not want it, now im stuck with a task for Martin that i cant complete or get rid of. Seems unfair to force us to purchase something we dont want

I am stuck on a quest for Ice princess Martin (I have) to show Lisa his Palace (do not have). I can’t do the task & whenever I tap on “do it” it takes me to the store to buy it. Should I pull the trigger just to clear my task bar or wait it out until the end of the event for it to be removed? The “deal” on the palace still seems pretty steep.
As an aside, my bear with the pacifier has been missing for easily a year or longer. Contacted EA & they can’t restore it without knowing exact date it happened. I have no way of knowing since it just roams around, was a long time ago, & the locator does nothing for NPCs. They are offering me 15 doughnuts as goodwill. Is this a good deal? Truthfully, I just want my bear back.

Have you recently blew up your town? I experienced the same issue with my pet mutant seedling from the terwilleger event. I found that it was in my inventory, but not in the characters selection. It was within the whole inventory that pops up when you open it, try checking there. Hope this helps! 🙂

Wow…I think I like the current one better anyway…they were worried about that design? What was the prob again?
I think I like the new one better too but the first one looks more like the one in the episode.
Although I do like all the stained glass in the first one…they could’ve kept more of that beautiful glass in the second design.
The first one is growing on me…but I gotta know, why did they change it? Is it too much like the one in the movie?

I snagged the Ice Palace hoping it DOES melt. (Picked up some of the snowmen as well because I think they look hilarious in the melted pics.) I think it’s sort of fun and interesting to have something that changes in my town without my having to move it.
I do wonder what EA will do… They have to know some people will be upset if the thing melts and others will be upset if it doesn’t! Of course, they manage to upset us all the time and don’t generally seem bothered by it…

I’m hoping mine melts & something else LOL funny is there … It’s an option for them to do something really cool, a puddle would be ok, but relieving something that was frozen in it & the basis would be even better.
They could always let you choose the state it’s it after clicking on it.

Personally….I actually like the 2nd one. MORE details to it and animation is amazing. I wonder if the first was TOO close and caused issues with the man in the mouse ears. 😉
Thank you. I thought it had a different design. It had me puzzled. I haven’t finished the quest line yet for it, so I wasn’t sure if the design was going to change (morph) as part of the quest line or not. At one point before I got it, I assumed the 2nd design was what it looked like “melted” and the other was it frozen.
I even re-watched the couch-gag clip from the episode which features the Ice Palace and it looks nothing like what we see on screen in that episode.
Perhaps Bunny is right and they wanted it to look more different than the movie version. Not having seen the movie, I have no point of reference.
I love the ice palace.
Had to have it! Bought it immediately, loved the Frozen references, love the animation, love the whole questline. If it melts, I may just store it until next year.

I wish it was for less donuts and although all the ‘Frozen’ references are lost on me, not ever having seen the movie, it does look cool and so I’m going to go for it. I was going to pass on it. In fact, I thought it came and left in fact until I realized it was still available. After Wookiee posted his WDTCF column on it, it made me reconsider.
Not knowing if it will melt, I’m not spending 120 donuts on this. I bought a few of the ice walls to surround my Simpsons family ice sculptures, but that was a reasonable 8 donuts or so.
PS – didn’t “spring” start before Valentine’s day last year? Like, it wasn’t even February and the sculptures had already melted?
I love that it is used by Martin, and I love the 12 hr task where he makes a snowman (definitely tons of Frozen references), and I convinced my mom to buy it too! (And my aunt chose to buy it as well)
The only part I’m concerned about it is spring…if they want to turn it into a regular palace during spring, then I’m fine with that….but if they choose to melt a 120 donut purchase….well, let’s just say my mom will kill me and I won’t be too thrilled with EA. It’s one thing for the snowmen, as most of us got them for free before….but I really hope they don’t melt that beautiful, expensive palace!! (It’d be cool if Ice Winter’s Cave became a regular cave, too…but if that melts at least I have King Winter)
When Martin had the dialogue about it melting, I was ticked because it popped up after I bought it! I know many people will be upset if this purchase becomes a puddle come update time!

don’t think I will pick this up, it seems too big, too expensive, I don’t really have a place within my town for it. I think I’ll save my donuts for Duffman or maybe the cracker factory. The limited item that I’m really not sure over is the mall that one seems to be calling to me but I’m not sure.

I hadn’t bought, in fact cam to to this post to say I hadn’t and I thought it was too pricey. I then thought about how I bought Krusty’s mansion and how I wish I had bought the gold mansion too. I then proceeded to buy the ice palace, ahaha.

I’m still very tossed up about this. The one thing that makes me want it is how obscure it will look come spring time. I don’t think EA will melt a building, but 120 donuts for a gag is steep
I bought it right away and love it! I just can’t get over Ice Princess Martin and his sparkly dress. But I also love when Santa Helper Ralph eats glitter. Sprinkle sparkly goodness!

I couldn’t pass this up, haven’t seen Frozen but love the look of Martin’s Ice Palace. The 12 hour task is currently my favourite.
