Should I Spend Donuts on Lurleen and the Beer -n- Brawl?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

With the new arrival of Level 49 I realized I never completed a Should I Buy for Lurleen and the Beer -n- Brawl!  Lurleen arrived in Springfield via the Level 48 update, right in the middle of Christmas and was one of the more requested characters in recent TSTO history (especially from our very own Wookiee).  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this singer is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Lurleen Lumpkin to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this former country superstar to YOUR Springfield!

Building/Decoration: Beer -N- Brawl
Character: Lurleen Lumpkin
Donut Price: 140 donuts
Dimensions: 4×8
Earns:
$175, 18xp/6hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Gluttony +10

Pros:
-Comes with a great quest line
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Pretty decent payout on the building, great way to generate some extra cash in your town.
-Beer -N- Brawl has a fun look to it, would go nice in a club/bar district (or right next to Classy Girls)
-Lurleen will use the Beer -N-Brawl
-Lurleen will have a 12hr Task at Open Air Stage

Cons:
-No Character Interaction after questline.
-Not a main Simpson character, only appeared in a few shows.
-Not voiced
-One of her outdoor tasks requires the BBQ Pit & she’s facing to the side or back, so you can’t see her face clearly when doing the task
-No Character interaction, outside of Lurleen, with the Beer -N- Brawl after questlin

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
Lurleen is a highly requested character so it’s no wonder she’s premium (all of the other highly requested ones have been too, just look at Crazy Cat Lady).  As a premium player this isn’t a bad investment.  The Beer-N-Brawl adds to your Gluttony rating (always nice to have) and Lurleen has some fun tasks.  Also, it’s a great questline.  140 donuts is a fair price for the combo, although I think it would be better if it were the same price as Don (130 donuts).  However, this is one I’ve purchased in my town…I love having another female in Springfield!

Freemium Take:
I still think this is a great character/building combo in the game.  It’s an ok price and comform-o-meter payout.  However, this is one I would hold off on for now.  Although she has a fun questline, Lurleen is not voiced & there’s really no rush to get her.  Especially with the possibility of an Event hitting soon, it’s better to save those donuts for limited-time items.  This is one character I will say you can put on your list of “nice to have”, but it’s not a “must buy” at least not now.  So save those precious donuts! 🙂

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I have purchased Lurleen, although I waited until about a month after she arrived to do so.  However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Lurleen will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get her.

Lurleen’s Permanent Tasks:

lurleen_guitar lurleen_roadkill

Task Length Earns Location
Mail Alimony Cheques 1hr $105, 26xp Kwik-E-Mart
Record a Demo 4hrs $260, 70xp Brown House
Write a Song 8hrs $420, 105xp Beer N Brawl
Play Country Guitar 12hrs $600, 150xp Outside
Barbecue Some Road Kill 24hrs $1,000, 225xp Outside

What are your thoughts on Lurleen and the Beer-N-Brawl?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring her to your Springfield (or did you already)? Where have you placed the Beer-N-Brawl in your town?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. So…she has NO outdoor tasks if i don’t have the stage and the barbecue pit?

  2. Any updates on SIB for Beer -N- Brawl with the Secret Agents’ bonus?

  3. Whaaat whats a mean not voiced oh maan lurleen have best sounds on the simpsons ı m really sad

  4. ???? On FB The Simpsons page is offering 100-500,000 donuts. You put in your username select the amount you want & do a survey & your supposed to get a mystery box with your donuts… Is this a hoax?? I followed the rules & still nothing!! If this is, I think it’s crap they post stuff like this.

  5. Thanks for the always more than useful “Should I buy…” 👍👍👍

This is one I was thinking about.
For her outdoor tasks will I need the open air stage or the BBQ pit?

  6. Since it’s my birthday I dropped some dough on myself and bought some donuts. However, I can’t spdecide if I should buy her, don, Otto, Barney, or duff brewery. Any opinions?

  7. You should add from the premium pov that she can use the stage… Doesn’t have sound but still like her there

  8. I love Lurleen’s episode so I had to get her. I’m happy to have another performer for the stage too, I didn’t know that at the time I got her and it was a nice surprise! Wish she was voiced though. On a slimly related note I won 5 donuts from Sideshow You today!! Woo Hoo!

  9. This Tapper thinks its a shame that most of the Female Characters are Premium (and not Freemium), but EA’s decision is their loss (not mine). I think its only a matter of time before EA either cuts the price in donuts (in half), or offers another way to obtain some Premium Characters (Quest, Millions of TSTO Cash, etc). I’m proud of what I’ve obtained without buying 1 donut (even though this is a neat Character / Building combo!). 🙂

  10. Why would the “Mail Alimony Checks” task be at the Kwik-E-Mart instead of….oh, I don’t know….the Post Office!?

  11. I love Lurleen and I’d really love to see more girls as voiced characters. Love Patty and Selma too.

  12. This was one I bought right away. Love her story line and the building looks great in my red light district of town. Fun addition!

  13. If I were to get 2400 donuts, and if there was nothing limited time available, then this would be the first item I would get.

  14. She’s one of my favorite Simpsons characters, but I prefer voiced characters in this game.

  15. I bought her and love her and the bar. I put my barbecue pit right outside the bar, so not only is she a singer and waitress, now she’s a cook. Anything to pay for Betty Ford’s clinic, right?

I placed the bar in my “red light/hobo” district, along with the strip club, the motel, and other less savory businesses. Naturally that part of town is located near the factory district. 😉 I also took the walls, gate, and towers from Castle Recycle and built a sort of shanty town and stuck it in there. 😀

I love her and am glad she’s in the game. What I don’t understand is why she mails the cheques from KwikEMart? The post office would make more sense and it’s a much less used building.

I’m hoping soon we get some more regular characters like Helen Lovejoy, Lunch Lady Doris, Lionel Hutz, and Troy McClure. There are others, of course, but those are some regulars I’d love to see brought to the game. 🙂

    • maybe she gets money orders from the kwik-e-mart? 😉

    • I too like the looks of the Beer-N-Brawl and how it fits in with the Classy Girls Strip Club, the Black Box, and several dumpsters and garbage. I would love to see how you set up your shanty town – I sent you a friend request, but understand you may be at your limit with neighbors.

      • I just saw your reply, Janis. I’m at my max right now, but I’ll soon be making some room on my friends list because I have a few neighbors who constantly tag me and it’s irritating me. I’ve had a drop in my righteousness rating (just added some more training walls), but I only have so much room for hidden walls. :-/

  16. I bought her and like her. She just goes with the game and to me was worth the donuts.
