Where Did THAT Come From – Burns State Prison

Hey there Superfriends!

I gotta say that I am loving the heck out of this Super Event. Vigilantes, Superheroes, Supervillains, bad guys to tap Batman-style, Spiderpig… so much fun. Of course, with lots of new items comes my task to let you know just WHERE all the stuff comes from. For this super where did THAT come from, we’ll take a look at the Burns State Prison.

This lovely building joins our town as the second prize for Issue 1. To find it in our favorite show, we head to “The Seven-Beer Snitch” (S16:E14). When the Simpsons family visits Shelbyville, Marge is aghast to discover that their famous theater district includes a play depicting Springfielders as stupid hicks. The kind of people who know that mirrors are just reversifying glass. Shelbyvillians love to Hoot hoot hoot hoot at Springfield… mean spirited hate hoots.

Marge takes her concerns to the Springfield Cultural Activities Committee for them to figure out how to make Springfield’s image more classy. Her plan is to have architect Frank Gehry build the town a concert hall. You’d think it’d be hard to have Mr. Gehry build a concert hall just like the one he did in Los Angeles but not when you’re Marge Simpson. All she does is write one of her famous letters which turns out to be really inspiring once Frank balls it up. He’s the “bestest architect in the world.” Just the guy to build a 30 million dollar screw you to Shelbyville.

Springfield Music Hall

The hall is completed with all its curvy linear forms but unfortunately, Springfield’s citizens aren’t much for symphony. Beethoven just sounds better on phones. The theater quickly is underused, symphony tickets are discounted 50%, it’s used as an “adult” movie venue and finally for “An Evening with David Brenner”. The stupid hicks of Springfield hate classical music. They’d have said something earlier but the hall was designed and built too quickly.

Springfield Music Hall 2

Springfield bankrupted itself with the new building but Mr. Burns steps in to assume the town’s debt. His grand plan, to convert the Frank Gehry masterpiece into a prison.

And that’s the origin for our new prize. Thankfully none of us had to bankrupt our towns to get it and it does look mighty fine next to the Springfield Penitentiary.  Of course, I wouldn’t be doing my due diligence if I didn’t point out this building is directly inspired by Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall which was also designed by Frank Gehry.  It’s the home of the LA Philharmonic and I like to think my neighbors in the next county over are a bit more cultured than Springfield lol.

For those who aren’t fans of classical music, you might say this real-life building is also a prison. Even if this new building didn’t make me think of home, I’d still like this modern art masterpiece.  It’s just the thing to make all of our towns classy… just like us. Keep on tapping in the free world and don’t let those hoots bother you. Shelbville stinks anyways… stupid cousin lovers.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. Hi I have experienced a problem with the State prison. I had enough rods to recieve it, but I couldn’t build it, I decided to find another spot but when I tried again it was gone. It’s not in my inventory neither. Anyone any ideas, please help ?

    • Definitely singing some Burns Prison Blues.

      • Lol!

Hey, quick question… How come when I paste a Dropbox link into a post here, an inline image appears, but when some other folks do it, it just appears as a link? I spent some time finding and using an app to reduce the size of my image before posting the link this time so it wouldn’t screw up the whole page so much, but I would have been just as happy if just the link had appeared. So, what am I doing “wrong”?

      • OMG, Bunny – that is awesome! It looks like an embroidery a perfect sampler!

I was using the same process… But, see, the image appeared inline (making the rest of the page all really, really tiny)…. How do we make the link just show up as just a text link, instead of an inline image?

      • But yours just showed up inline, too, Bunny! I would say that maybe it had something to do with how I’m viewing the pages, except that I see some plays with one and some posts with other. Are you saying that, when you look at your post on this page, you see a link for your image and not the image itself???

  2. One of my dreams is to watch a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall! Now I know when I attend a show, I’ll also think of my Simpsons game. lol Love it!

  3. I would like to thank EA for offering enough Freemium experiences during this brand new Event / Quest (there are some good Premium items, even if I feel they are too pricey).

I am having fun tapping Thieves with Rainbow Afros on their heads (lol, its so clown silly that its a shame this doesn’t involve Krustyland with new Buildings for that area).

Back to earning Pie Bombs 🙂

  4. I’ve heard of crafting once you get the Collector??

    • Correct. It is a lil more detailed involved, so give us time to prepare a fully listed post on all of it. 🙂

      • Alright! This event keeps getting better! The buildings that I have seen that you can craft look like they will fit in perfectly with the new superhero section of my town . 😃

  5. I just got a play store update. I didn’t notice any changes, and was wondering if you all had any ideas?

    Great job, and thanks!

    • Nothing changed in file area… prob just patches.

    • I noticed that too, and came directly here to see what’s up lol 😁

    • I’ve noticed that the game has been inconsistent lately about whether it requires the Files/Media permission. With this play store update, the installed version on my phone added the Files/Media requirement, but the version on my tablet (which already had that requirement) had no changes to the permissions required.

I’m not sure what’s up with that, and I’ve noticed other Android apps adding this permission requirement recently.
