Should I Spend Donuts On the Radstation Air Fortress?

Hey Howdy Hey Crime Stopping Tappers!

Look up in the sky!  It’s a bird!  It’s a plane! No it’s…a giant flying building?!  That’s right my fellow Superhero Tappers the Radstation Air Fortress and it’s hovering abilities have arrived in Springfield!  For this weekend only you can defy physics and own this dizzy spell inducing building!

Now I know many of you are trying to decide if this flying fortress is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to help you decide what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Radstation Air Fortress to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this fortress to YOUR Springfield!

airfortress_menu

Building/Decoration: Radstation Air Fortress
Donut Price: 225 Donuts
Dimensions: I
t hovers so it’ll only take up a 4×4 square of space on the ground
Earns:
$200, 22xp/8hrs
Bouns %: 5% (yes this earns BOTH currency and a bonus %)
Conform-O-Meter:
Obedience +10

Pros
-Animated , the outer stations revolve around the center one & it floats up and down.  Also, smoke occasionally shoots from the bottom.
-Because this hovers in the air, it takes up a small footprint of space in your town
-Can be placed over Springfield, over Squidport or over the water
-First item that I can remember, that earns BOTH a building payout and a bonus %.  And the 5% bonus is pretty nice on it.
-Permanent 16hr task for Fallout Boy
-Looks cool

Cons
-Pricey, very pricey
-Will not earn more event currency for you
-Might feel out of place in Springfield after the event, especially if you don’t create a Superhero area
-Does not come with a character.

Final Thoughts
Premium
As odd as this might sound, since I said I’ll probably pass on the Tar Pits, I like this one.  I know it’s more pricey and doesn’t come with a character…but I like it!  I like that it’s got a small footprint, so I can fit it almost anywhere in town…and the hover factor is just cool!  I also really like that it gives a 5% bonus AND pays out cash and xp/8hrs.  So in my opinion…if you have the donuts to spare grab this!  However, remember that if you’re a premium player and you’re low on donuts…there’s still A LOT more event left to go with a lot more content.  So if there’s something you’ve got your eye on (Bartman for example) you may want to hold off since you know there’s more coming.

Freemium
Honestly, save your donuts on this one.  As cool as I think it is…I also think it’s overpriced.  And I know for freemium players donuts are hard to come by.  So don’t spend them on this.  Save them for something that might hit down the road in the event (like Bartman)…

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I’m going to pick this one up.  However, whatever you decide remember this is a limited-time item and will disappear after the weekend.  So make sure you make your final decision before March 3rd at 0800GMT or it’ll disappear from the store!

What are your thoughts on the Air Fortress? Did you make the purchase or are you waiting?  Why or why not?  Where have you placed the Fortress in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. The Tar Pits was a no-brAiner for me, I love the character terrorizing Sprongfield. Ditto the Pig and Silo which were invaluable for Event play. I had Bartman, but missed on Bart Cave–glad they gave us a second chance. This was the BEST Event since I started (Stone utters). I bought the Beach House – cannot articulate why – I am still on the fence with the airship? But it does look cool, and VERY Super Hero, and I am sorry I passed on the Ghost Ship, so Oh Well, spend the $10 bucks– cheaper than movie pop corn. I was just going to add Community Center because of the characters outdoor tasks. Thanks

  2. I got it & I regret it. I should’ve waited for this ‘should I buy’ article. It didn’t even occur to me that it wouldn’t have more character tasks associated with it! I also don’t really care for the 2 bright colors & how big it is; and it just doesn’t look all that good to me in my town. I passed on the pirate ship for similar reasons, but got too excited with all the superhero stuff for this event. I still can hardly believe there’s only the one task associated with it. 😥

  3. CapCityGoofball

Surprised they didn’t make it reward capes to get more people to bite! 😜

  4. OMG I had lost my iphone for the past 2 days I am gonna be a bit laid back on this issue.

  5. Good morning Springfield, speaking of doughnuts, I’ve been trying to think of what I can do…. What I’m thinking is I have approximately hundred doughnuts I think maybe 110 something like that between a hundred and 110. So my question to you today is, I’m a fremium player and so I’m hoarding my doughnuts. The only donuts that I have spent,… well I spent them once on the mystery box big mistake!! Lol . But the only other thing I spent it on was the squeaky teen kid and so my question is if this was you and you work hard these donuts which item character or decoration or combination would you choose to spend the doughnuts on? Which item or character or decoration would you use to spend these hard earned sprinkles of goodness to help you in the game I’ve seen some that say or 50% of everything that one individual person’s job does, and I seen X amount of % points for everything done in all aspects of the park and I’ve seen X amount of % points for everything done in all jobs done in krustyland and Springfield. To me that seems like the best bet, kinda thinking about the twins at two hundred %, but maybe something that’ll make more on all jobs… but anyways that’s why I am asking your advice. So out of all the out of all the things you can spend your doughnuts on and I worked long and hard on these. Just curious just want to throw it out there and wanted to know what would be the most beneficial item decoration, or character to purchase with some of the doughnuts that I have, that would help me earn the most and then give me the highest earnings and get me a head the farthest in the game. In your opinion. Thank you,
    Wes.

    • If you’re finding yourself tight on money (not donuts), then you might want to buy something that helps with your bonus multiplier, like the Jet Engine Bike (30 donuts for a 2% multiplier, I think…doing this from memory). If you’re excited by Spider Pig, he’s a good deal, because he’s a character/building combo at the cheapest price they come (only one other combo that’s that cheap, Akira and the Happy Sumo… Some folks really like him, because he can craft Bonzai). Otherwise, I’d wait until you’ve saved up some more donuts, so you can get a different character/building combo – one that you’ve been eyeing and secretly wishing you had. My first donut purchase was Otto and his bus, I think, because I had gotten SVT for free pretty early on, in one of those mystery boxes you get every five days. I also bought Crazy Cat Lady, because I just felt drawn to her. If you’re really dying to add another character now, Bumblebee Man and the French Waiter are both inexpensive (I have plans to get Bumblebee Man sometime after this event, since I think it would be fun to have a Spanish-speaking character I my town). A lot of folks think that Duff Man and his Brewery are a must-have combo.

You might also want to wait to see what else comes available as part off this event… Always better to wait to buy non-event stuff during an event, because event stuff is time-limited. One of my best event purchases was Witch Marge, because she can speed up crops (and she wasn’t terribly expensive). However, personally, as a primarily freemium player, I would never spend donuts on something that’s only useful during an event, like the membership card. And, as Bunny’s always saying, “get what makes YOU happy…what would make you happy to see in your town.”

      • Ok, awesome thank you I appreciate that very much. So Spider pig is not just for this event then because I do want to get a character I was thinking the French waiter bumblebee man because they actually can earn money each hour or whatever task you put them on is Spider pig just for this event or does he have tasks that you can do afterwards? Thanks.
        Wes

      • Well thank-you again always appreciate the help. Very informative so thank you for doing that.

      • Spider Pig’s tasks should continue after the event, but the one that currently earnings pies will earn cash. His silo currently earns cash, so that shouldn’t change at all.

        Oh, and you’re welcome! 🙂

      • Oh, keep forgetting to say one other important thing…. Before buying anything, you might want to read the “Should I Buy” article for it (and the comments folks wrote at the end) on this site.

    • My favourite character/building combo I’ve bought by far is Frink’s Lab. I love Frink, he is voiced which makes me very happy as I’m a big Hank Azaria fan, his lab looks cool and fits in well with any Halloween items you might have or win in future. (I have it with some of the human test tubes and the Donut Torture Device from last year and the colours fit beautifully.) Aesthetically speaking, my favourite premium building is Fireworks Candy & Puppies, but it doesn’t come with a character. It does give Ralph a 2hr task which I have found useful. Sandra is right though…you gotta think about what you’d like in your town long-term. I personally never buy NPCs cos I just find them irritating. Most of the NPCs I have won in events I have in storage. Hope this helps! 🙂

  6. Is it just me seeing this or does anyone else think the rotors of the outer stations look like flash (Nazi) hook crosses? Don’ t like this.

  7. It is twirling above my Springfield. Happy to have it.

  8. I’ll say pass this time, to big and no sound… add me RaymondLa40 im extremely active 😋🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩🍩

  9. I thought I liked it then I saw it in a neighbors town and I do not like it at all. However, as the event progresses I wonder if more items will be introduced which would make me wish I’d have purchased this item when I had the chance. If only these limited time items were available until the end of the events but since it is not it is a pass for me! Though I love they are introducing items placable on water. Btw, is it just me or has anyone else noticed when these expensive items are introduced that iTunes cards go on sale on eBay at a 20% discount? Coincidence or Conspiracy? lol

  10. The jury is still out. When I saw it in others’ It seems out of proportion in size with the rest of the towns. Too big. And spider pig seems too small.

  11. I went for it, put it on the wafter in front of the boardwalk … Figure if I did not I’d regret it later on 🙂

  12. Is it just me, or most (or all) of the premium items are getting too pricy recently? (Or EA decides its time to raise the price of each item?)

    • Well, at 100 donuts, I think Spider Pig and his silo was the cheapest character/building combo ever, except for Akira. So I don’t think there’s a particular premium price padding plot present (see what I did there lol? 😉 )

  13. When I saw this in my neighbors town it was an immediate pass for me. Way too distracting and “in your face annoying”… However, it does seem to be a love it or hate it thing… Just not in my Springfield considering the limits of land. I will enjoy yours when I visit your town…

  14. I wasn’t going to buy this at first for many of the reasons listed, especially being very pricy, but my biggest issue was “Where exactly would I put this monstrosity?” Problem solved! I am building a complete Zenith City area, kind of like a twisty, water, bridges everywhere, futuristic area and this fits perfect! I was worried about the size covering other buildings up but I actually placed it over water (town water, not Squidport water) and it looks amazing!! I love it!! It only requires a 4 x 4 area so masking it in the water was easy peasy! Very happy with this! 😃 Donuts well spent!

    • I might have to try something like that since I am in the process of making a few changes to my SF in the form of area groupings. Actually is a good time to get started on my ZCity! Verrrry tempting…. But it does look awesome! I believe you’re one of my newer neighbors, acquired recently, after I dumped a bunch of others who were content to let ME visit Them, but never visited ME! Sheesh. Anyway, John’s SF looks great! I do love to see people get creative with their towns and John’s certainly fits the bill (as long as I have the right ‘John’). You should grab some screens of you Zenith City area with all the waterways & put them up on the Addicts Flickr page. I went & looked at my neighbors town after reading the above post & it looks like what he’s talking about. I’d be surprised if 2 people had the exact same idea with the waterways & all. If I don’t think of something I like better for my Zenith City area, I may do something similar. After all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right? 😜
      Be well all, Rachel

  15. I bought it, but don’t see anything under it’s description about a 5% Bonus, also it doesn’t make any sound which is strange for such a pricy item.

  16. It’s super huge! Seeing it in a neighbor’s town convinced me to pass. It looks awesome but it’s too big and too pricey.
