Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long. This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!
Now…enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right? Time for another Open Thread!

So…here is your Open Thread. The Simpsons are all new tonight, what will happen in the new episode? The Superhero Event Issue 3 is supposed to hit our devices this week, what do you think will happen during it? Level 50 hit our devices last week….were you excited to see the Lovejoys? And we’re still getting smacked with snow here in the Northeast….but here’s something fun a Father and Son did with snow in Illinois. What do you think? Have you ever created anything fun in the snow?

Have all Zenith buildings bar the shop front, and expect to get enough to have two each of the non-uniques except the store (liked the phone boxes, blew picks on six of them :). I figure I’m halfway to a KL pop bonus and should hit this before end. Hoping for that magic 100 for SP ;p
I think you’re ahead of me in everything except H.Q. level (I think I’m up to 22). Still trying to get enough handcuffs to get the Times building (it’ll be Tuesday, IIRC), and I feel like I’m way overdue for some balloon-popping donuts, but I don’t know how to track that, since I haven’t kept count of how many days it’s been since the last one. (At 6 balloons a day, I should get donuts every 50 days).
Once I get the Times building, I really want to get at least one more of the green building (two more would be ideal, as I’d really like to set up a nice little complex with a central courtyard), but I don’t know whether there’s any chance of that.
I wish the phone booths, which are, to me, the crafting equivalent of the spooky walls at Halloween, also had a bonus multiplier to them, like the spooky walls did. I have a whole bunch of extra lock-picks and phones (I think my phones are in the 700s!), so I could probably craft up quite a few phone boots and should love to get some extra %s racked up (since I feel like my multiplier is pretty meagre).
Again, I would like to thank all my friends for visiting me. It is great to see you patrolling my streets and keeping them free of those pesky criminal.
I have read about people that have tapped Abe and others thinking they were criminal…… Well, I just tapped the smoke coming out of Itchy & Scratchy’s …. no excuse… just saw black and my tapper reacted. I had to laugh at myself.
Internet is working so far. We’ll see if it lasts the rest of the week.

Random thought for everyone still following this post: Saturday is Pi day. The date (in US format, at least) is 3/14/15 — Pi is 3.1415 (etc). Does Pi-Man (er, Pie Man?) get any special powers on this day? LOL JK 🙂

Life well? Been a bit stormy up your way, I hate to say it but Autumn has been quite nice for us so far.
Matt – while month first doesn’t make sense in terms of a “progressive” order (day, month, year), from a practical stand I like it…it helps orient one’s head and calendar better (“what month even will this happen in? Oh, April? Okay…so, when exactly in April?” as opposed to “what do you mean ‘the 23rd’ – the 23rd of what?? Oh, April? Let me turn to that month in my calendar…now, which date in April was that again?”). But, of course, it might just be because I’m one of those silly Amercans lol!
BTW, I have to deal with this issue all the time, since the company I work for is actually Canadian, and I also have teammates in both Canada and Ireland.

Don’t know if you will see this, since the new open thread is out, but I believe the US format is based on how people say the date, at least in the US: May sixteenth, twenty-fourteen becomes 5/16/2014, or shortened to 5/16/14.

So I logged into another device today and Gil popped up, said his spiel about buying the Homer car, but he never went away! Now he’s just roaming Springfield and Krustyland, but if you tap him nothing happens. Plus it gave me a new Super Jeb so I have 2…weird.

Yeah, The Homer is showing on both devices (never bought it though). Plus, it reset my friendship prize, so my next prize is KBBL (I already have one). I’ll know in a short while if I’ll have 2! How weird would that be?
Ok, so it just gave me my 2nd KBBL but won’t let me place it because it’s already been built! Ah well, at least I have 2 Super Jebs.
I’m going to start having nightmares about handcuffs pretty soon! I feel like I’ve been sitting at 11/15 handcuffs needed to build the Times for a week! I know that’s impossible, but still…those handcuffs are slow going, man.
Also debating what to save my donuts for…I have 139 right now, combo freemium/occasional purchases and I had thought I wanted to save for Barney but 250 seems SO far away…and 150 for Luann and the cracker factory seems way more doable, especially since I got the Canyonaro yesterday and I got a bunch of free donuts in issue 1 and 2…What should I do?
Luann is a good buy and a bit more practical than Barney at this stage (she’s got way more questlines)…but in the end it’s up to you and which one you’ll be happy with 🙂
I also realize I don’t remember ever seeing Barney out and about in neighbours towns, but I DO remember seeing Luann on all of her outdoor tasks and they’re all pretty great…hmm…

I’ve been mathing again. I have 63 sprinkles so far, and average ~5500-5600 ray guns / day. I’m about to get Canyonero (yee haw;) in the next day or so, and figure that I should have at least 10-11 days of FP sprinkles, normally averaging 2 a day. I’m pretty sure I’ll have at least 4 days of ray gun earning meaning hopefully 12 donuts (6000 per 3 sprinkles with the 5.5k ish per day) and with 20 donuts from FP, I think I’m going to fall short of Spider Pig!
Any chance you’re close to filling your XP meter again? I hit that yesterday, so 3 more sprinklies for me! 🙂 What about balloon popping in Krustyland? Any chance you’re close to 300 pops yet?
And remember, if you get within 6 donuts of what you need, you can always just spring for a Golden Scratch-R!

How often are you logging into your game? I’d’ve thought you could up your daily haul from 5,600… Logging in every 4 hours is giving me about 8,800 per day – but I’ve got 100 fantastic neighbours. Even so, 7,000 per day should be doable, no? That’s would get you at least 2 or 3 more goes at the free sprinklies.
In fact you are getting more. If you’re on 24k you’re getting close to 8,000 per day (we’ve only had 3 and a bit days of collecting freeze rays). You need to redo your maths!
I reckon you’re getting 8k/day, issue 3 lasts 14 days so you’ll get about 112k freeze rays, which is 51k more than you need and will give you 8 goes at free donuts. That should be 24 to add to your 63 – so, 87. You just need 13 from neighbour visits in 10 days. It’s gonna be close.
Thanks SW, I was try to err on the cautious side, it’s going to be real close, I’ve made a few new neighborinos this event but strangely lost a few over the 2-3 week mark, hovering high 80’s… I visit KL every 8 hours to pop, logging 2-4 intervals at the moment (yes, that’s all day ;), visit every neighbour daily… Wargh, the trials of freemium…
Cube – Go fill up your friends list! Those extra 10-15 friends could make a difference! I always try to keep my list full, since it’s so easy to do.

Hey everyone…just a brief hello to all and quick update…just returned from OT…left side improving slightly, but right hand and wrist have worsened to point where they are now in splint. See surgeon again on 23rd this month so we’re thinking maybe surgery coming up for right side sooner than expected. So pleased left side has improved albeit only a little…it’s better than not!
Thank you for the shout out guys way back on the list…I appreciate it. So miffed at missing this event..but never mind. Crap happens! Miss you all heaps. Big hugs all round.

So glad to hear from you….I knew you weren’t supposed to be typing/tapping, but silence always makes me nervous, so I’m glad you checked in.
Glad to hear you’ve had some improvement on one side and I hope that surgery will fix the other. (I just learned a few days ago that I’m not a good candidate for spine surgery, so now I don’t know where that leaves me…I was really hoping I would be a candidate for the microsurgery version they can sometimes do for folks with my general condition, but the first surgeon said I would need major surgery, if I decided to go the surgical route, and the second-opinion surgeon said he didn’t think having surgery was a good idea at all, since there was a 50% chance that it would actually do more damage than good!)
So, hopefully they can fix you up and, although it may be unpleasant inn the short term, in the long term, hopefully you’ll be able to get back to doing important things, like tapping! 😉

Thanks Craig…looks like it’s gonna be a long time unfortunately. My heart is broken! I’m gonna divorce my hands and wrists on grounds of non support!! Cannot believe increase in pain and weakness and so much pins and needles now! Hate this old age business! Should be a law against it! Found photo taken over 40 years ago….I was such a bright eyed youngster! But then…weren’t we all?? Lol
Lol, Julie…know what you mean about divorcing your hands/wrists. I’m ready to trade in my body for a newer model after 9 months of mostly being in bed. You’re right – physically, getting older sucks!
So sorry the pain is worse right now. If it’s any comfort, I had problems with my wrists for several years and thought it would never end, but it eventually did. Hang in there! <3

Just wiki’d Arizona, as much as we Ozzies hear quite a bit about America via media, I think it’s hard for most to picture the vast differences in the states you have. We technically only have 6 states, and two territories if you go by government. With Mexico one side, the mountain ranges with snow peaks, California as a neighbour, and the dry hot heat, seems Arizona is quite diverse?

Yeah – we have quite a range of climates and topologies in our little country here…we’re almost like our own little planet! 😉
(Unfortunately, I’m afraid some of our citizens sometimes think that way almost literally… It’s embarrassing how few second+ generation Americans know a second language or the most basic info about other countries in the world.)
Cool link Julie! Really does give a good perspective, and the comments on the page are quite precise! Sandra, Americans are the only ones, unfortunately with an average of 10-12 hours between major cities, and our states being so vast, Ozzies can be a bit, er, “pre-occupied” with the State / Territory they’re from. I must admit though, most Ozzies tend to do the world-backpacker-pilgrimage more than most 😉

Matt – Actually, I’ve always lived in the northeast (NYC and the metro Boston area), where, at most, 2 hours will put you in another state. Driving the width of Massachusttes is only about 3 hours or so, but if I drive south or north for a couple of hours, I can be in any one of 5 other states. (Three hours would add one more.) I’ve always thought it would be neat to live in western Europe and be able to be in several other *countries* for that same amount of driving!
A trip to visit my folks on NYC takes a little over 4 hours for me, but that’s because I make numerous restroom stops. 😉
Have you ever been to the U.S.? I had an online friend from Australia many, many years ago who came to NYC with a friend from Canada, and I met them there and showed them the sites (some of which I hadn’t even seen!). It was fun, although I’d need to be in much better shape, physically, before I could do that again now.
I have Canadian relatives, and travelled a bit through there with family years ago, but no, not America… I’ve always wanted to travel, but I must admit America had never really been in my sights, for me the colder climates, UK and Europe would be first. America always seemed a bit, and please don’t take offense to this, “unfriendly”, I guess we hear the worst of it through media and so on though.
It is kinda funny to see just how other parts of the US are portrayed in media. Places I grew up in. Lived in recently. They make it seem so undesirable to be there. Where I’m looking out the back door at me and my neighbors loving it and shaking my head at the “news”. Lol
Media is just desperate for attention and stories. If it’s scary or frightening they’ll feed into it to make it seem all out deadly war zone just to get attention. Meanwhile those there are asking “where the hell did they film that crap?”
We only hear about the big American cities, the highlights I suppose and yup, media do focus on the bad news reel… But Australia I’m sure cops it’s fair share of international flak, especially with politicians whom are plagued with foot-in-mouth disease. For me and I think alot of Ozzies it may be the gun thing, I know it’s a controversial topic, but the possibility anyone you meet in America is armed, as a tourist you would feel more in the vulnerable category 🙂
Lol. I get it. No worries. Most of us carry just one weapon… our loud obnoxious mouths. 😉
Matt – Growing up in the heart of NYC (Manhattan), I never understood why people would say it was an unfriendly place…I could, and frequently did, strike up a lively, friendly conversation with any stranger on the bus of the subway or the street. (In fact, when I moved up to Boston for college, I was surprised to find that to be somewhat less so.) The southern states drip with politeness and apparent warmth, but I actually think it’s somewhat less sincere than the more brusque, but honest, northerners. (But don’t confuse brusqueness with unfriendliness…) And then there’s the laid-back Californians (in some parts of California)….bottom line, depending on where you go in the U.S., you can encounter a myriad of different cultures and styles…pretty much something for everyone. We have some of the most tolerant, progressive places in the world and some of the least (unfortunately). But you’re right – you really can’t go by what you see in the “If it bleeds, it leads” media.
And as for cold…is 106 inches (269cm) of snow enough for you? That’s what Boston got this year – more than many areas of Canada! If it’s serious cold you seek, you could take a winter trip to the states of Minnesota or Maine (although I think you would find that degree of cold more than you’re really looking for). The coldest temperature ever registered in Australia (-23°C, -9.4°F, in Charlotte Pass, NSW) was a temperature we reached, or exceeded, in my town on several days this winter (and generally hit at least one most winters).

Cube – OMG, the gun thing… Don’t even get me started! Come visit us here in Massachusetts or in NYC, where thare are much saner gun laws and I’ve NEVER known anyone, personally, who carries a gun around and very few people can get the permit necessary to carry a gun around with them. (Obviously, there are criminals who buy and carry guns illegally, but, in all of my time in Boston and NYC, I’ve never actually seen someone use or brandish a gun.) However, to be fair, there are other parts of the country where carrying a gun is a “way of life.”
Of course, if you see planning a trip to the U.S., it’s pretty easy to avoid visiting the most dangerous places. (FYI, NYC and Boston didn’t even make the list of the 100 most dangerous cities in the U.S., which reports on the per capita rates of violent crimes, such as murder, forcible rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/neighborhoods/crime-rates/top100dangerous/ )

Something strange is happening with my Conform-O-Meter – or it just has a very delayed reaction.
A few levels ago I built enough KEMs to get up to 5 stars. I built them 1 or 2 at a time until I got the 5 stars. Now, I’ve managed to store 10 of them and I’m still at 5 stars. I’m prepared to believe that I might have acquired one or two items that could do the job of a KEM but 10? And the requirement goes up with level increases, right? I’m confused, but not unhappy!
Although once this event ends I’ll probably have to put them all back just so my neighbours have something to tap. I wish my town could be free of KEMs and brown houses forever!
I have my superior Squad HQ up to level 22. From your past experiences with other events, once this event is over will I maintain a higher payout and XP than if I never built it up? I started playing during the Christmas event and never paid attention to what happened with the elf cave or toy workshop. Thanks for your help!
The Level will not matter after the event for anything more than bragging rights. Lol. Its main purpose is usually served within the event where the Levels are concerned.

Ever since I started really getting into this game, I can no longer watch an episode of The Simpsons without looking at every new building and thinking about whether they should add that into the game. I also find that I pay much more attention to all of the little details (the names of business, etc.) than I ever used to. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hmmmm, strange, I’ve kinda gone the opposite way, we have recent but not latest Simpsons here (months separating), but since TSTO ~midday through Halloween two years ago I have really only kept up online…

But when I really got into the game I decided to re watch the series from the beginning since I hadn’t watched it in years… I’m now in Season 3 (only 23 to go.. OMG…) and I’m constantly seeing things going “Ah, that’s where it’s from!” Probably also a familiar feeling for many, at least those like me who had been a bit out of touch with the series for a while… 😉
I remember the first time Simpsons aired for us in Australia, 20? years or so ago. I’ll always remember QUIJIBO!

From Craig (ibuylow2014) to all my neighboreenos, I am getting out of town for the next 10 days to thaw out these old bones. After a stop in Florida, the island we are going to is six miles long and internet service is so-so. So, if I don’t get to you as much as I have been, (as Arnold says) “I’ll be back”.
Good to know, although I think you’d have to be off the game for a month or more before I ever dropped you as a neighbour. One of the best!

Alright addicts I’m torn on a donut purchase. I could use some opinions. jasper or Luanne vanhouten?
She comes with a lot of mini questlines and unlocks the Fleet a pita, so game wise… her.
luann hands down. as bunny said, from a game standpoint there is way more value with 3 different questlines, the unlock of a new vehicle (with gluttony), and perhaps most important, the mega effing globe! from a non-game standpoint… well luann is a sexy beast dressed up in that flag, jasper is just a beast on the wrong medication. 🙂
I have to say I prefer Jasper, mainly because he’s voiced and his little mutterings when you tap him make me smile. And he goes paddling.
Luann’s questlines are fun but go pretty quickly and the Fleet-a-Pitas aren’t that great. But, I’ve got both and don’t regret buying either. Both are good choices.
