Should I Spend Donuts on Shorty’s?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 50 has arrived in Springfield!  With the all new Level things are focused around the Lovejoys.  And no one in Springfield is a bigger gossip than Helen Lovejoy!  And with the all new level EA decided to introduce a cafe that’s the site of one of Helens infamous gossip rumors about Marge and her bowling instruction.  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this Coffee Shop is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Shorty’s to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this Cafe to YOUR Springfield!

        shortys_menu

Building/Decoration: Shorty’s
Donut Price: 60 donuts
Dimensions: 5×7
Earns:
$105, 11xp/3hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Gulttony +10

Pros:
-Helen Lovejoy will have a 1hr task there, Eavesdrop over Mimosas
-Pretty decent payout on the building, great way to generate some extra cash in your town.
-Animated building when in use, the Coffee Shop in the sign flickers & the door opens

Cons:
-No questline associated with it
-Only Helen Lovejoy can use the building
-Pricey for what it is/what it does.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
This one is a toss-up in my opinion.  It’s right along the lines of the price of the Fireworks, Candy & Puppydogs store…although the animation on that building is much better than Shorty’s.  Here’s my thoughts…if you need another building for Gluttony and you like the look of this one go for it.  However, if you’re on the fence, hold off & save those sprinkles for something better down the road 🙂

Freemium Take:
Pass on this one.  The donut cost + the payout isn’t worth those hard earned freemium sprinkles. Save them for something better down the road.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I have not purchased Shorty’s just yet…although it may be something I add in the future.   However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Shorty’s will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get it.

What are your thoughts on Shorty’s?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield (or did you already)? Where have you placed the cafe in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I’m really torn. ALL of my characters have one hour tasks, except for Helen Lovejoy. Between this and the pet shop so Stampy can have a 4 hour task is a conundrum. I’m at 125 donuts right now and have been trying to get Duffman, I think I’ll stick with that strategy.

  2. I have a soft spot for coffee shops and I do a good amount of 1 hour tasks in my Springfield, so I got it. Not only does it give Mrs. Lovejoy a 1 hour task, but it pays out at the premium rate for her since it is a premium building.

  3. That heart made my heart melt so yes I brought it and it looks good in my SF!! OAN I’m moving starting tomorrow and unfortunately I won’t have my internet transferred until 3rd 😥. So for my neighbors I’m so sorry but I will be back on the 3rd I promise. I will post this on the away section as well. (fayfelix78)

  4. I have been considering it – I need another ‘casual dining’ type building. I thought I would hang on to my donuts to see what Superheroes issue 4/Easter bring, but after they end I think I will end up getting this. I have spent more on buildings that do nothing before (Bad Dream House!)

  5. Is it really a +105 for gluttony or is that a typo?

  6. Random question, speaking of whether to spend 🍩– Is it possible to know the maximum amount of 🍩 that a Homer Buddha will pay out? Because today I took the gamble and bought one, and got a bench w/jacket. Then I felt very unsatisfied, so I gambled on another one, and lo and behold, 150 🍩! I didn’t think a Homer Buddha could pay out more than a jackpot on a golden Scratch-r…but I’m certainly not complaining! I’m just curious if there is a way to know what the possible 🍩 payouts are for premium items that might pay out 🍩.

  7. I’d have thought this building was worth it for the Gluttony rating as I’m finding that hard to get 5 stars in. Or is there a better Premium building to buy to improve your score?

  8. Well , you know I’ve stuck to my Freemium plan the last 3 years playing Simpsons Tapped Out l, so I would definitely pass on this Coffee Shop (not only because of the price, but the fact that it only allows one character – Helen Lovejoy – to use this building for a 1 hour task).

If you want to spend donuts? I say wait and see what EA has for Easter 2015 (especially if you are a newb). Freemium Tappers (like me) like to save our accumulated free donuts for those deluxe items we think are worth it. 🙂

  9. i would love to have this as i am a completionist! I work with 1, 4, 8, 12 and 24 hour tasks but to have only one character for one hour interaction gives me a stop and wonder if it is worth it! I could deal with a 12 or 24 with the building! Sixty sprinkles is high in my opinion!
i will prolly get it in the future tho! It does not say limited time so that is always good for me! Love it when time is on my side!
Anywho, i got the Rad Man flying in both games and getting ready for another Springfield Nuke!
Thanks TSTOADDICTS for ALL you do! 😉 Wish i could make it to Jersey! I would have brought flowers for the ladies and spicy cheetos for The Wookiee!

  10. I just have to say that I love the ‘Premium’ v ‘Freemium’ advice you’ve been giving out lately. Thank you guys!

  11. I wish all characters came with 1, 4, and 12-hour tasks by default, without having to spend donuts to buy a building. I don’t mind having to do that to get other time frames, but those three should be automatic. I bought The Aztec to give SVT a 4-hour task and my next purchase will be Krustylu Studios, so that Penelope has a 12-hour task, but I didn’t mind buying those as much, because the Aztec is cool (and also provides premium tasks for CBG and Bart) and the studios are neat and come with Sideshow Mel. But Shorty’s is just a boring building that only helps one character. (I also wish Bernice had a 4-hour task by herself, because I always have Marge speeding up crops.)

Oh well… First-world problem, for sure lol!

  12. Uh, it’s got a giant heart on the sign. Of course I bought it. 😀 Too cute not to!

  13. I bought it for the 1 hour task.

  14. I really hate that you have to purchase something to get a 1 hour task for a free character. I thought you were cool EA.

  15. I got it because my Springfield had a vacant place and it was just right for it. And… I also got Fireworks, Candy and Puppies, which I love, so I guess I’m the person this place was marketed for.

  16. I passed.

  17. I need 1 hr tasks, so I ended up with it. I do like how it looks, I’m just upset at having to spend on it- don’t give me characters for free/as level ups and then only have a couple tasks they can do. I almost stored her building until those extra donuts landed!

  18. So (I don’t have Helen yet) let me get this straight. For Helen to have a 60min task, I need to have Shorty’s? Or is she able to do the task elsewhere if I don’t have it? (I always set my characters to either 1hr or 4hr, depending on the day, and 8hr at night.)

  19. It’s a cute little building and would look good beside the donut shop, which I don’t have; therefore, will pass on Shorty’s. Problem solved! 🙂

  20. Now, if there was only a way to give her a 24 hour task…

  21. I got it because I don’t like tasks locked for my characters.
