Well…superheroes have come and gone and it’s Easter in Springfield! And nothing says Easter quite like Ol’ Gil in a giant bunny suit….anyone else think he’s channeling Ralphie?
Anywho…so Ol’ Gil’s in town and just what is he offering this time? Well…for a limited-time (ie until, Tuesday 4/7) you can purchase one of the items Gil picked up on his Polynesian travels..the Easter island God. The Easter Island God is an all new decoration for your Springfield.
Now I’m sure you’re wondering…”is this something I should take Gil up on? Or am I better off saving my donuts for something better?” Well…before you hit that confirm button, let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this stone head to YOUR Springfield!
Decoration: Easter Island God
Cost: 100 donuts
Size: 3×3
Bonus %: 3% on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +1000
Unique: Yes, only 1 per Springfield.
Pros
-Animated when tapped (pretty funny animation, as the head comes to life)
-Offers a nice bonus%
-Comes with a small questline (see details of it below, there’s a quest for Homer, Rev. Lovejoy and Kirk)
Cons
-Overpriced, IMO, for what it is/does.
-Only improves Vanity, one of the easiest Conform-O-Meter requirements to max out

Premium
Honestly, I’m still on the fence with this one. However, I do think I’m leaning towards no. It’s ok looking & the questline (and bonus %) help, but I’m just not thinking it’s something I have to have in my town. So if you’re a premium player this is one I’d advise you to buy strictly because you like the look of it. Don’t do it for the bonus % (or the vanity points) because there are far better premium items you can pick up that will give you greater of each.
Freemium
Pass on this one. While the bonus % offered is nice, it really adds no significant impact to your town. Plus I really think he’s overpriced, for less donuts you can buy 2 Jet Engine Bikes (40 donuts each) and get a 4% bonus multiplier total (2% each). So I do think this is a pass if you’re a freemium player.
Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you this is one I’m still on the fence about. Just remember…whatever you decide this IS Limited-Time so be sure to make your decision before Gil leaves Springfield on at on Tuesday 4/7!

Lisa: For an island deweller, this bossy stone god is definitely not Jimmy Buffet material. And I can’t ignore that Easter Island was a humanitarian and ecological disaster.
Easter Island God: Oh sure, blame me for that when the entire world is doing the same thing. If anything we were ahead of the curve.
Lisa: Ugh, convincing you is like trying to squeeze blood from a stone.

Ah hmm 60 donuts after rebate 2017 Easter. I’m thinking about it but may just pass …
First time this was offered, I didn’t have nearly enough donuts for it, and wasn’t going to spend money just to get it. But now it’s back, and I could easily get it, so I’m tempted. I’ve always been interested in ancient feats of stonework. I do kind of wish it was the full figure rather than just the head, though. It’s been known for years that the heads have bodies that were buried by time.
Yeah, I need to ponder on this one. My donuts won’t last long if I keep buying overpriced stuff just because I think it’s cool in real life.
Isn’t Kirk’s last name supposed to be Van Houten instead if Van Gogh. Did I miss something?
It is the name of the questline…. not HIS name. Lol. All questlines have some kind of name to them. 😉
Hmm… I taped on one in a neighbor’s Springfield and it didn’t do anything. I assumed it wasn’t animated, but now I read that it is animated. Either way, I think I’m going to pass on it.
I saw this in a friend’s town and really liked it (had a ton of books on Easter Island as a kid!) but the 100 donuts were making me pause. Then I got the free Easter donuts and went for it, pretending it was just 80 which seems much more reasonable to me. I’m really happy with it! I just started the Rev Lovejoy bit of the quest and the BUILD STONE HEADS made me laugh. It looks cool and is a better percentage to donuts buy than the whale which I also have (I bought my first donuts specifically to buy the whale, I tap on him every time I pass him, I call him Whaley, no regrets 😉
Cypipes’ post also made me take the plunge and buy the Natural History Museum – I can wait a bit longer for Lurlene 🙂
I’m surprised that this won’t go on a Squidport tile. My plan was to put it on a solo tile in the middle of the water, as that’s the closest thing I can see to an island that’s not a decoration. I’m also surprised that from what I see, it will only go on the lower half of my beach. I think I’ll pass…
This would look great with all of the tropical stuff, but I can’t spend 100 donuts. That’s just way too much. It’s a little cute decoration. 🙁

Not sure where this comment should go so I’m putting it here. What is up with the new pricing scheme for buildings. If it is to prevent farming then a big BOO!!! Does EA think this will force people to spend donuts for Springfield “Cash”? The first TSTO tutorial i read said that was a major don’t. So all I see is frustrating people to the point of quiting the game at some point when costs are too high and cash is too hard to get. Again BOO!!! EA, BOO!!!
Don’t worry – farming isn’t necessary to do well in this game, especially if you have the time to send characters on short-duration tasks and you have maximum neighbors and visit them daily (once you max out your FPs, you get TRIPLE the money and XP for visiting them, which really adds up!). I never house farmed and have done quite well without it.
Sandra is oh so right! I started playing a little over a year ago. I never house farmed, just took my time to play and built things as I could. Yes, it was sometimes a struggle as the price on required buildings went ever higher. I felt like I’d never ever have enough money for anything! But after about 6-7 months of playing I was all caught up level-wise. And one day it seemed in-game cash was suddenly alot easier to aquire (around level 30 or so) Now I have 13 million in my bank and can buy pretty much what I want when I want it. But I still take my time and p!ay slowly…I haven’t even begun the level 49 and 50 quests yet. I’ve gotten the most enjoyment from TSTO by not rushing through anything. Just take your time, the game isn’t going anywhere, and suddenly you’ll have loads of in game cash generating through regular gameplay.
I want to applaud EA for coming out with a new & clever decoration, but I think the Easter Island Tiki should have been a friendship quest item vs an overpriced Premium item (I would have tapped away daily to earn this & visited Neighboreenos enthusiastically).
I agree that 100 donuts is too much for a 3×3 sized item (that should be going for 25 – 30 donuts). I guess later this year Tappers will probably find this item available via the 6 donuts Mystery Box (sorry Gil, but no bueno).
2015 is not over, so who knows what surprises Tappers will get this year 😉

It’s a pass for me. Too much for too little. I’d rather buy a character, even with the bonus percentage.
What *I* want to know is how Ol’ Gil managed to afford a trip to Easter Islands in the first place? The there’s the transportation costs of the statue. I think Gil has been pulling the wool over our eyes about how poor and desperate he is….

I was incredibly close to buying the Head, until I saw that it’s 3×3. Bonus is nice, but that seems small for such a high-priced item.
