Should I Spend Donuts on Grimey & the Forgotten Grave?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 51 has arrived in Springfield!  With the all new level Frank Grimes has come back from the dead!  That’s right my friends…level 51 is a trip to the Ouija Board as previously deceased characters return from the grave!  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this deceased plant worker is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Frank Grimes to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of raising this plant worker from the dead to YOUR Springfield!

       unlock_frankgrimes forgottengrave_menu

Building/Decoration: Forgotten Grave
Character: Frank Grimes
Donut Price: 160 donuts
Bonus %: 3.75% to all Cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Indolence +10
Level Requirement: Must be at Level 51 (unless you get the 2 week early access, when level first hit)

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line (it’s ok, not great but ok)
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Sweet bonus % on the grave at 3.75%
-Grimey is voiced!

Cons:
-Questline is VERY Homer centric.
-No Character interaction after questline
-Frank only has 1 decent outdoor (visual) task
-Takes a while to actually unlock Frank.  Several lengthy tasks of “digging at the grave” are required before he’ll show up in your game.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
I’m a fan of Grimey.  I think his questline is fun, not great, but still fun.  I really like the bonus % payout on the Forgotten Grave as well.  And as an added bonus, he’s voiced!  All of those make for a good premium buy!  So if you’re a premium player Grimey isn’t a bad pick up.

Freemium Take:
While there are a lot of things I like about Grimey, I do think there are better premium character/building combos out there.  So if you’re a freemium player this may be one you’ll want to pass on for now.  Hold off and purchase one of the better (less expensive) combinations.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will be purchasing Frank Grimes.    However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Grimey will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

Frank Grimes’s Permanent Tasks:

  1. Defiantly worth while to me.
I’ll be curious how he interacts later on in events.

I mean you never know what roles they will play. Look at hank Scorpio he has tons of event interactions.

I mean he’s a favorite so it makes sense. And last event being a super hero event it was only fitting.

But it’s great when others that we like have roles in events as well so you never know. Maybe since he’s back from the dead he’ll have a role in knowing how to take out ghosts or ghouls easier in a holloween event.

Also hoping next halloween there’s a event involving demons too lake the episode whete Bart gets great grades in hell.

    Happy tapping.

  2. Once Google Survey monies builds up, going to get Grimes.

  3. I love Grimey!! But 160 donuts is way too steep for me 🙁

  4. I am surprised at the back and forth over this one. I thought everyone loved Grimey! I’m a big fan, so I got him right away, but I am not loving the quest line, so far. Oh well, I still am excited to have him in my Springfield.

  5. Got him right away. I placed his grave next to Homer’s grave lol. And those are next to my cemetery and pet cemetery.

  6. The outdoor task alone is worth the Donuts.

  7. My game keeps logging me out every time I go to play it, and I have to wait for all the files to be downloaded again. Any idea what might be going on?

  8. At this point who really cars about multipliers? If you’re level 51 and have been playing for at most a year, you should be making about 1 million dollars every 4 days. If you’ve played longer and have more odd event buildings/characters etc you can make 1 million every 3 days or less. It amuses me when veteran players like something but don’t buy it because it “doesnt’ come with a multiplier”.

    • I’m Level 51 and I care about the multiplier… It’s not about the money, it’s about the XP! More XP means, ultimately, more free donuts!! And, as a primarily freemium player, items with multipliers can be hard to come by.

      • Sandra: Gotta agree with you there. Although I want to have a huge wad of cash on hand (just in case land becomes available) the multiplier gets me to free donuts faster. And free donuts are the…

        Best. Donuts. Ever.

      • Fair enough. That makes sense.

    • Gotta agree, it’s all about the doughnuts. I’ve got $152 million nothing to spend it on… Time for a new vanity item

  9. I’ll give it a miss. The bonus is nice, but you can get better from a couple of jet engine bikes costing 30 donuts each. So, one fairly insignificant character for 100 donuts?
It’s nice that he’s voiced but he’d have to be a ‘she’ for me to even think about it.
If, one day, I buy a boat load, then ‘maybe’.

    • (at the moment I reckon the cheapest way to get bonus multiplier is by buying Mystery Boxes, making Grimey even more expensive)

  10. Would love to get him but don’t have enough donuts yet. It’s Grimey and it’s another grave for my cemetery. As soon as I have the sprinkles, he’s mine!

  11. I love that these two characters are in the game. Loved the Grimes episode. A little surprised they weren’t going to be introduced in the tree house of horrors event like Maude was 2yrs ago.

  12. Frank Grimes – this long time Freemium Tapper (since 2013) will not tell you whether or not this new Springfield Character is worth the Donuts (180 is steep, since new Character doesn’t come with a new Building).

I will only say if you like a Character with enough Tasks He comes with 5) that is voiced (yes He is)? There is half the reason why you will buy this Premium Character … if that’s not enough? Forget that Forgotten Grave, save your Donuts for something else. EA will make available soon.

I hope my fellow Tappers are enjoying Level 51 (I am) 🙂

  13. Thank you so much for all you do regarding the pros/cons. I’m so grateful! Can’t wait to see Frank electrocute himself! THANK YOU!!

  14. It’s weird because I seem to be one of the few that didn’t like the Grimes episode. It just made me think, “that dang Homer is so annoying.” I will buy him though. I try to buy as many of the characters as I can.

  15. I didn’t even remember this character, so I don’t have a strong call to get him myself, but it’s been making me so happy to read all of the posts in this article and others about how happy folks are to get their beloved “Grimey”! 🙂

    • only grimes i care about is rick grimes 🙂

      • haha, ditto on that, Tape! I loooove TWD and can’t believe we have to wait til October now…

      • i know right! i guess looking on the bright side, at least we don’t have to wait 10 months, like we did for game of thrones (back on sunday!!).

those are my two favorite shows right there, and there really isn’t a close third… and you are officially now my favorite neighbor! 😉

  16. At long last, GRIMEY!!!!

I have been strictly a Freemium player since I started playing a year ago. Never ever dreamed I would spend real life $$$ on this game, however, the moment I saw Frank Grimes was available, I immediately went to the donut store and purchased enough donuts to get him. Didn’t matter if he was voice or had any outside tasks because he is the one character I have most wanted in Springfield.

Now if EA would kindly add Troy McClure to the game…

    • I know what you mean about Troy McClure but I doubt he’ll ever be added, out of respect for Phil Hartman who passed such a long time ago. Much like my dream is a voiced, playable Sideshow Bob and Cecil but I know the voices of Kelsey Grammar and David Hyde Pierce are just never gonna appear in the game.

      • I don’t know about not adding him out of respect, after all, the woman who voiced Edna Krabbaple died and she’s in the game. Although she may have died after the game started… I’m sure one of the addicts team members knows that timeline better than I.

        • She died well after Mrs. K was in TSTO. However, since she passed away she’s had no dialogue in TSTO and very few required actions.

    • I’ve been dying to see Troy!

  17. I grabbed him immediately. Or at least the grave. I’m still digging him out. O_o

  18. kimberlyah794

I’m sure I’ll pick him up eventually, but I’m waiting since there’s no rush. I’m sure there will be upcoming events and holidays for my donuts.

  19. As a mostly freemium($6 in my year long history) my yardstick on premium characters is outdoor tasks at 12 and 24 hours, my most frequently used times. Which means Grimes isn’t getting bought.

  20. I got him after learning he’s voiced. I placed the grave but G never came up. Does Homer have to be free for G to appear?

  21. jbw431@gmail.com

It’s Grimey for cryin’ out loud! I bought him the moment he became available.

  22. I really want him.. Payday was today… Maybe might splurge. Always doing something that surprised me. Good job EA. And u as well Bunny Alissa n Wookie.

  23. I’m a freemium player, but I’m definitely going to pick up Grimey just as soon as Marvin Monroe’s questline is over and Homer is totally free. He’s just one of the random, oddball characters that really makes me chuckle, probably because he reminds me so much of one of my neighbors in college. Always working. Always unhappy.

  24. I love that this level includes two older Simpsons characters! Most of the events feature newer ones. I’m now coveting grimes as well as minds, but as a freemium player, it’ll be a while until I can afford grimes, let alone be able to afford mindy next time she crops up!

I love that grimes electrocutes himself outdoor, I hope to see him in my neighbours towns!

  25. I am a bit torn about this one. I would really like Frank Grimes, but 160 donuts is a bit steep. Fortunately, not a limited time item, so I will have a bit of a think and decide later.

  26. Sorry if this has been asked before, but is Grimey only a temporary offer, or will he re-appear in shop once I am level 51? I know the “early access” thing is temporary, just don’t know if I pass on it now, if it will re-appear once I’m 51

  27. richard casey

Immediately bought Grimey. Never done that with a new premium character before. His is one of my favourite episodes.

  28. IT’S FRANK FRIKKIN GRIMES. Don’t think twice. Get it.

    New Level – Check
    Tie-In – Next
Another Invasion – snakes perhaps? Jehovah Witnesses? Ghosts? Mona Simpson, Bleeding Gums, Beatrice Simmons, Rabbi Krustofski…the possibilities are endless.

  29. Thanks for this! I’m still on the fence as I have 440 donuts and want to buy Rancho Relaxo, the Community Center or The Forgetton Grave before the next event hits. Still unsure on what to choose.

    • I have the Community Center and it’s nothing to show off. Jasper is a pretty cool character but all in all not the best of the 3, considering nobody has any tasks at the Community Center.

    • Personally I love having jasper in my town however this is largely down to that I love hearing him say “spoke out of term that’s a paddling” and “paddling the school canoe oh you’d better believe that’s a paddling” and of course his paddle homer task in the stone cutter outfit.

I was wondering why my Indolence went up after placing his grave.
