Should I Spend Donuts on Grimey & the Forgotten Grave?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 51 has arrived in Springfield!  With the all new level Frank Grimes has come back from the dead!  That’s right my friends…level 51 is a trip to the Ouija Board as previously deceased characters return from the grave!  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this deceased plant worker is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Frank Grimes to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of raising this plant worker from the dead to YOUR Springfield!

Building/Decoration: Forgotten Grave
Character: Frank Grimes
Donut Price: 160 donuts
Bonus %: 3.75% to all Cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Indolence +10
Level Requirement: Must be at Level 51 (unless you get the 2 week early access, when level first hit)

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line (it’s ok, not great but ok)
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Sweet bonus % on the grave at 3.75%
-Grimey is voiced!

Cons:
-Questline is VERY Homer centric.
-No Character interaction after questline
-Frank only has 1 decent outdoor (visual) task
-Takes a while to actually unlock Frank.  Several lengthy tasks of “digging at the grave” are required before he’ll show up in your game.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
I’m a fan of Grimey.  I think his questline is fun, not great, but still fun.  I really like the bonus % payout on the Forgotten Grave as well.  And as an added bonus, he’s voiced!  All of those make for a good premium buy!  So if you’re a premium player Grimey isn’t a bad pick up.

Freemium Take:
While there are a lot of things I like about Grimey, I do think there are better premium character/building combos out there.  So if you’re a freemium player this may be one you’ll want to pass on for now.  Hold off and purchase one of the better (less expensive) combinations.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will be purchasing Frank Grimes.    However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  Grimey will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get him.

  1. I can’t find Grimes or his grave in my store and I know I never purchased him. Do you know if he was ever taken out of the store?

    • He was taken out of the store and placed in the vault with a rebate as shown in this post here.

      • Thanks for letting me know. It’s a slight bummer since I wanted to add his grave and Dr. Monroe’s grave to my cemetery in my Halloween area, but I guess I can hold off.

Just because it’s still a bit confusing to me though, they will continue to cycle through, right?

    • I finally have him! still doing his quest line, wondering when his 1hr task will unlock, as I find them easier to work with than 4hr ones.

I normally don’t buy donuts as I’m a freemium player, I like to earn my donuts through daily challenges etc. – But for “Grimey” I had to make an exception…

Oddly enough I’ve won/earnt over 2000 donuts worth of content and spent only under $100 doing it.

On to earning my next premium character…

  2. I’ve been offered Grimes in my vault this week.(120 net donuts)

However I’ve also been offered Arnie Pie (65 net donuts.)

I only have 150 donuts after spending big on the pride premiums.

    tough decision

  3. Okay two quick question why does it have a time frame on grimes in
The Sci Fi event that says get in or he goes in a few days and if I get him do I still have to earn him through the quest first I wanted to use him to help get Lisa but it’s says it take awhile to get him thanks

    • If you get him during the event it goes right to unlocking him. His questline doesn’t appear during the event…

      • Oh and the time frame is just for his appearance in the Sci-Fi section of the store

      • Sweet thanks that helps
What stuff does he help with out of curiosity
        Crafting stuff or unlocking stuff
And will it actually help or is the payout of material that weak it’s not worth getting again any help is much appreciated

  4. I haven’t seen anything about Grimey and the Sci-Fi event. If we don’t own him yet, do you think that he would be worth it?

    • He does help with this event…It’s kind of one of those if you were thinking about getting him, this would tip you over the edge things. But if you had no intentions of getting him, i wouldn’t grab him just for this event.

  5. Question about grimey, so after i finish the questline, then i can no longer make grimey do stuff once the questline finishes?

  6. Still wish his visual task was longer. Not my favorite purchase, to be honest.

  7. Hi all!

Sorry, if this has been asked before (didn’t find it), but I’m thinking about getting Grimey!
Is his task “Finding peace in the grave” the same as mentioned in the quest line as “digging out of the grave” (as seen on the picture?)

    Thank you!

    • No. The finding peace one he just goes and “rests” in the grave…Digging out is just an animation that initially appears

      • Thank you so much!
Think I’m gonna pass. Not sure if he’s worth the donuts as I expected the task to be a little bit more “active”
        Thanks!!!!

        • Not sure I answered correctly. For 8 hours you just see the ground move, then when you release him there’s really cool animation of him pulling himself out of the grave

    • Yes it is, I have him doing it constantly and love it every time

      • Thanks Ryan. So I got it right that he is seen pulling out of the grave at the end of the task “finding peace in the grave” only. Thank you, will have to watch my neighbors’ towns still unsure…

  8. Sandra M. Black

Ever since I updated iOS 8.3 I can’t get on the Simpson tapped Out , I have not updated my iPhone 6 plus so it works there but it’s a very small screen between the two please help me. Yes I’ve contacted EA games

    • EA’s honestly the best person to contact. Could be a software issue with iOS and TSTO. They’ll have to explore it further, there’s no quick tricks we can give you on this one.

  9. When i first got Grimes there was a black popup screen that said something about him. But i was a tapping so fast i closed it. 😞 Can you tell me what it said?

    • There were a few different things. Probably about digging him up, Or it could be his unlock screen. Or even the Character Collection screen.

  10. Although I think it was a little over priced (100 donuts would have been sufficient, even if the multiplier took a hit) but I really wanted a grave for Fat Tony’s mansion back yard. Looks perfect in there. Very cool way to introduce a character though. Not something I’ve seen before. Radioactive man being trapped inside the Statue was similar but we didn’t ‘know’ (although we all assumed) that he’d arrive.

  11. Seems a little expensive for me for 160 Donuts.

  12. This is the first premium item that’s been added since I started playing that I didn’t even pause to buy. I’ve been wanting a grave, and I love Grimes. I’m still digging him out, looking forward to having him in my town.

  13. I had to have it. I don’t have him yet, I’m still digging him out. I love the animation of the single arm reaching out and clawing at the dirt. (Very Buffy). Normally, without spending doughnuts, I try to get through these as quickly as possible but for now I’m enjoying the antici….pation.

  14. I guess I am a bit strange.. I enjoy the game.. I do not care about multipliers, I do not worry about XP. I play the game. I bought Grimes cause it was there. I have never watched the Simpsons shows. I knew of them, I knew the family but as to all these other players, never heard of them..I enjoy the game.. I enjoy the game more each time I read these updates that the three of you fine people post for us.. It gives me the fun of enjoying the game more. I listen when you tell us the pro and cons on buying or not buying an offer.I listen when ppl post how they have used an item..but most of all I enjoy the game.

    • You’ve NEVER watched the Simpsons?!??
Wow! There is some serious catch up to do here 😐
Watching the show adds some serious dimension to the game. I recommend you watch at least the last two series AND the movie. You will not regret it!

    • Ouch

  15. Anyone know offhand how big the grave is? Just curious, might have a perfect spot for it depending on the size.
