Should I Spend Donuts on Marvin Monroe’s Tombstone?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Level 51 has arrived in Springfield!  With the all new level Dr. Marvin Monroe has come back from the dead!  That’s right my friends…level 51 is a trip to the Ouija Board as previously deceased characters return from the grave!  Now I know you may be trying to decide if Dr. Monroe’s Tombstone is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Marvin Monroe’s Tombstone to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this stone couch to YOUR Springfield!

monroetombstone_menu

Building/Decoration: Marvin Monroe’s Tombstone
Donut Price: 40 Donuts
Bonus %: 2% to all Cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Indolence +10
Unique: Yes, only 1 per Springfield
Level Requirement: Must be at Level 51 (unless you get the 2 week early access, when level first hit)

Pros:
-Nice bonus %, although common for 40 donut items
-Fits in nicely with a graveyard area, especially works well with items from Halloweens of TSTO past

Cons:
-No character interaction, no questline, nothing
-Not animated.  Basically a big stone statue that will just sit there.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
Personally, this is one I plan on passing on.  I do have a cemetery area in my Springfield, but it’s pretty full and I just don’t feel like the 40 donuts is worth it.  If you’re a premium player and have the ideal location for this, it’s not a bad buy.  The bonus %  payout is on par with every other 40 donut item, and if it works in your town great.

Freemium Take:
Pass on this one.  The 40 donut price for a 2% bonus is exactly the same as a cop car, and the cop car is easier to fit into town.  So I’d save your donuts on this one…

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will be passing on this Tombstone.   However, this is NOT a Limited-Time Item so take your time with your thought process.  It will still be there in a few weeks.  So if you’re on the fence or worried about saving up your donuts relax..there’s no rush to get it .

What are your thoughts on Marvin Monroe’s Tombstone?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring him to your Springfield (or did you already)? Where have you placed it in your town?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Did anyone think that the tombstone is a great “RESPECT” item for a long time retired character for the Simpsons.. To me it’s a no brainer – If ya love the Simpsons show like i do then BUY BUY BUY Yeah…

    My…Best…Comment…Ever

PS -> EA please please fix the character menu glitch it’s driving me crazy!!!

  2. eh, I’m not feeling it. It’s a pass for now.

  3. what my cemetery looks like with it in it….

  4. useless item but I got it for my epic cemetery. Just makes the Cemetery look pretty much complete for the most part. Especially with the Grimes Tombstone to go along with other halloween items. They need more cemetery items like simple tombstones etc…..

  5. I just spent 60 donuts on Mystery Boxes and got 7% bonus (2 channel 6 vans and 3 I&S billboards) and 2 Lard Lads – and other assorted junk. I won some donuts too, but net spend was 60.
If you’re just after bonus multipliers, the Mystery Boxes are a much better bet than the tombstone. But then the tombstone is unique, whereas I now have more vans and billboards than a sensible player would ever want!

    • I would guess that at least the billboards are easy to hide (like training walls), so I would think that, after 2 or 3 vans, one would be rooting for a billboard instead. (Although, besides being premium, I think extra vans would be easier to place than a whole bunch of stupid minnow ponds. I have three minnow ponds in my inventory now, on top of the two I already had in my game before the new Mystery Box came out.)

  6. I got 30 sprinkles in a mystery box and collected 10 over 2 days and bought this it will sit in my graveyard forgotten I mean 40 doughnuts for a forgotten grave what next EA what will you try to flog next…..

I wish I bought a burns limo I feel so cheap.

  7. The Problem Child

I did like getting the Family Therapy Center as it goes well with my Medical Center (Hospital, Calmwood, Dr. Hibbert’s practice, Retirement Home, and the Stomach Staple Center). Dr. Monroe’s stone, meh…I put it next to his therapy center rather than my cemetery area, as it’s not a real tombstone.

  8. Bring back whacking day ….Please Please PLEASE EA !

    (hope they read) : )

  9. Someone stole my burrito™

I don’t understand EA’s philosophy about pricing. If this was three donuts, I’d get it and I imagine many thousands of players would, far surpassing the income from those few ( assuming ) who would overpay for something.

    • I agree but I think there are plenty of players who buy everything, regardless of the cost.

    • Yeah but EA doesn’t make money from Donuts. Yes far more donuts would be spent, but no players would spend any real money to earn back 3 donuts.

      • Someone stole my burrito™

EA doesn’t make money from donuts? Care to share where their income is coming from?

      • Yes. They actually receive real money when people buy donuts. They surprisingly do not eat the virtual donuts. When people spend donuts, EA does not receive the virtual donuts. It’s when people spend money ON donuts that EA receives money.

      • If this was 3 donuts, EA would not make any money

      • That’s like saying that McDonald’s doesn’t make money from people eating their hamburgers. While technically true, people don’t tend to buy hamburgers from them just to throw them away…

The reason that premium items aren’t typically so cheap (like 3 donuts) is that it would be too easy to get those items from earned, rather than purchased, donuts. Most primarily freemium players could easily purchase a 3-donut item from their earned donuts and, therefore, would have little temptation to buy donuts.

The one exception to this is the Mystery Box they came out with recently… Because of the way they structured the risk/reward, it’s caused a lot of players to buy many of them at once, even when it’s required certain players to purchase donuts to do so. But I doubt that, even at 3 donuts each, folks would want to but 24 tombstones (unless it was for the multiplier, but then that’s not in EA’s best interest, since high multipliers mean more XP, which means more free donuts).

  10. You do get something for 40 Donuts, but this Freemium Long time Tapper says “pass” due to the fact there’s No Character interaction, no questline, no animated surprise aka “not enough” in my opinion (basically EA was lazy on this new Level! I think if a Tapper is going to spend donuts, they’re should be character interaction, animated surprises, a quest, etc) ….

This item feels like it should’ve been a friendship prize (would’ve had Tappers visiting Neighboreenos)

  11. I’m going to pass. Unless I end up with a sudden influx of donuts to waste, I won’t buy it. There are several premium items like that for me…

  12. Hey everyone,
I have a question and I didn’t know where to post it but when i saw “Ryan” s post I thought maybe he would know because he said he buys everything. My question is in a neighbors town I saw a decoration I have never seen or heard of. It was a record player or stereo with two speakers on the sides of the stereo. I took a screenshot of it so if no one knows, I could post a pic if needed. The colors are pink and purple. Anyway, thanx for any help and have fun.

    • Snake speakers from Whacking Day 2013

      • This is an item I covet every time I see it in a neighbor’s town! The Simpsons Whacking Day episode is one of my favorites. I recognized it as soon as I saw it. A friend introduced me to TSTO and I’m forever grateful (although my wallet may not agree). I came to the game in December of 2014 so, it seems like I missed out on a lot of classic Simpsons stuff that isn’t available anymore (i.e. raven Bart, Whacking Day etc.). Visiting neighbors is something I enjoy very much because of this. The snake flags make me smile every time!

    • Either that was before my time or they hacked the files. I’ve only seen it once and I have premium Neighbors who’ve played longer than I have and they don’t have it so I’m assuming it’s a hack

  13. I bought, it, I buy everything though. Meh is my opinion. It’s alright but year from now, after forgetting about it, I’ll see it and be like ‘what the heck is that? ‘

    • Just saw Allisa’s reply. I started playing the last day of Whacking Day so before my time

      • Snake Speakers

Premium from Whacking Day (they were, I believe, 50 donuts). They lured the snakes to them to make them easier to whack.

      • Alissa, that’s them. I love music so I thought they look really cool. 50 donuts is a little high and I’m a mostly freemium player so I choose my donuts buys carefully but my live of music might have swayed me to buy it. I love when I see something I’ve never seen before. I’ve only been playing about a year but I love looking at the old event posts on this site so i have knowledge of what went on before I started playing and all the cool stuff I missed. When I see something and I don’t know what it is I can search on here and usually find it but with this I didn’t know what to search. And then all I have to do is post the question and not only get the answer but then you posted the pic. You guys(really 2 girls and 1 guy) and this site are so amazing and I am sooooo thankful for it. Thanx to Ryan also for answering. I love the friendly, fun, informative community this site provides. Thanx and have fun.
