Should I Spend Donuts on It’s a Wonderful Knife and Gino?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Terwilligers are making their way back into Springfield!  The initial, Act One, update brings the littlest Terwillinger to our stores, Gino!  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Gino to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of bringing this pint sized killer to YOUR Springfield!

        unlock_gino itsawonderfulknife_menu

Building/Decoration: It’s A Wonderful Knife
Character: Gino
Donut Price: 150 donuts
Earning: $90, 10xp/2hrs.  (Sorry guys my computer crashed while writing this and I didn’t realize it restored to a previous version.  This does not payout a bonus %, it has hourly earnings)
Conform-O-Meter: Consumerism +10
Where Can I Place It?: Squidport Only
Size: 4×6

Pros:
-Comes with a quest line (it’s ok, not great but ok)
-Premium character earns 50% more on all cash and xp than a freemium character
-Gino will be included in two character groups that will earn you more Corn.  He’s considered both a Criminal and a Kid, so he’ll have 2 Corn Earning Tasks (assuming you Level Monsarno up enough to unlock them)
-It’s a Wonderful Knife is a great looking building, fits nicely on Squidport

Cons:
-Gino is not voiced
-No character interaction with It’s a Wondferful Knife.
-No addtional Currency Earning Tasks (Spades/Trowels/Shoveles what have you…or anything else upcoming)

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
I like Gino.  He’s a cute kid and makes me giggle.  Plus I like the fact that It’s a Wonderful Knife is another building for Squidport and I really like the look of it.  150 donuts is a bit steep for a characeter combo, but it’s not the most expensive we’ve seen (heck Grimey was 160).  If you’re a premium player with some extra donuts to spend I say go for it with Gino.  Just remember, it’s only Act One and more is coming.  So if you’re a premium player and tight on donuts you may want to hold off for now.  There’s no benefit to adding Gino now or at the end of the event.

Freemium Take:
While there are a lot of things I like about Gino and It’s a Wonderful Knife, I would hold off (at least for now) if I were a premium player and donuts were harder to come by.  There’s still a lot more to see in this event, and you never know what’s going to hit the store.  So at least for now, I’d pass on Gino and It’s a Wonderful Knife as a freemium player.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you I will be purchasing little Gino.    However, this is one item in the store that will be around for the entire event.  So you don’t have to make a decision right away, Gino will still be in the store when Acts 2 and 3 hit.  So if you want to hold off for now and wait to see what else arrives, that may be your better bet.

Gino’s Permanent Tasks:

gino_declare_vendetta_front_walk              gino_play_with_handmade_toys_active_1

Task  Length Earns Location
Play with Handmade Toys 1hr $105, 26 Outdoor
Declare Vendetta 4hrs $260, 70xp Outdoor
Wait for Bart 8hrs $420, 105xp Treehouse
Playdate with the Octuplets 12hrs $600, 150xp Kwik-E-Mart
Torture Stuffed Animals 24hrs $1000, 225xp Brown House

*He also has two tasks to earn MORE Corn, as he’s considered both a Criminal and a Youngster.  Both of those tasks will unlock as you Level Up Monsarno.  Gino also has a 24hr task involving Monsarno, however it will not be unlocked until Act 2 starts and you Level Monsarno up further.

  1. Hey Alissa, I know you probably don’t remember this because you respond to so many people and very quick at it too, but I was the one one debating about whether I should get Jessica Lovejoy or the Academy school and you said Jessica was better… well after this Twil—Sideshow Bob Event, I’m really looking at Gino, his son to purchase. I still haven’t got Jessica because I was waiting until after the event was done to do whatever task she will have….Anyway quick question before time runs out–Is Gino Worth Purchasing Now Than Jessica??… Lol he does look tempting to get because he reminds me so much of Chucky the killer Doll whom I love too lol haha!!! 😀 😀 😀

    • P.S. Oh yeah I’m really waiting on Brandine to come back for me to purchase because I read about her… she’d be a nice addition for me….but I don’t see her in my “purchasing area”… so did she really come back?? Or where can I find her??….THANKS!!! 😀 😀 😀

    • Well I will say Jessica will still be there next week, Gino won’t be.

I still like Jessica more, because she’ll play more of a role in the game I think. BUT if you like Gino you should grab him because he won’t be here for long…

  2. I like that it’s a new building for the squidport but it sucks that there’s no where to put it without removing one of my other buildings. EA needs to give us more boardwalk pieces to craft….and more land. Lots more land. It sucks that I have to put buildings into my inventory so I can place the new event buildings.

  3. Would you recommend doing his quest first or have him start earning event currency. If I hold off on the quest, how long do I have to get it done?

    • I’d hold off on the quest if you don’t mind the task sitting there. You’ll have plenty of time to get it done after the event is over, and it’ll give you something to do in the downtime 🙂

  4. It’s A Wonderful Knife
Love the fact Squidport Pier gets a new Building
Love the fact it comes with a new Springfield Character

    What I don’t love –
    price is too high
zero interaction available for Springfield Characters
    zero help during new Event
(why is EA offering Premium content that offers no Premium help during the new Event?)

    decisions decisions

  5. I decided to get him now, I was on the fence and then thought why wait till event is almost over, just get him now and put him to work. (My town looks so odd. I made a bench park where I have I think 9 chars hanging out and now its just the one) if they can work off they go

  6. As you were poking around the files for the event, can you give an idea how many doughnut items there are in the quest? I know you can’t say for certain. But in the last 2 months I’ve spent so much money on this game I have to budget for it. And please Gil, Don’t come to town with some 200+sprinkle item.

    • There are a few donut items. Right now I don’t see any gil offers, but EA tends to hide those and not post until they’re ready to release it.

  7. Berkeley Jeremiah

    I have 2 Questions:
    1. When he is free (not completing a task), will he always walk around my Springfield with a knife in his hand?

    2. Is there any chance I can win him or any other event donut items in a mystery box?
    Please let me know, thanks.

    • 1. No I believe he just walks around regularly. The knife is for the vendetta task.

      2. No chance to win him, or any other event items, in the Mystery Box. Only want to get him is via Donuts.

      • Berkeley Jeremiah

I kind of thought it would be funny to have a crazy little kid with a knife walking around my Springfield. That’s a deal breaker. Thanks for the answers!

  8. Is EA cheap or are the actors asking for too much money for their voice? I’m surprised at how many characters aren’t voiced.

  9. The fact it can go on Squidport is what sold it for me. EA needs to give us more Squidport stuff (and Krustyland stuff)

  10. Have to keep the family together .
Will the game do an automatic update?
I have about 30 people that has not updated .
Should I skip them when I visit my neighbors ?

  11. sarahjohnstone95

Deceased plant worker? Did that reset too? 😛

  12. Sweeeeet,
Just got the lad lard donuts for 6 donuts in the new mystery box. Also got Kearny and blue haired lawyer in the last three tries. Oh and the billboard. Like 300 donuts worth of stuff for like 24 donuts. Good job EA keep up the good deals and I might just keep spending. 😜😝😛😜😝😛😜😝😛

  13. Does any one know if he, at any point in his quest line, says “Vendetta”?

  14. I have 300 donuts and would love to buy him and Francesca when she is released. Gino is available til the end of the event correct?

  15. I bought him, but my bonus percentage did not increase. I went to KL and then back for it to sync and still didnt increase. Exited the game and still didnt increase bonus. Is it time to contact EA?

    • No. There’s no bonus % associated with it. It’s a building. Typically buildings offer a payout, not a bonus %. In this case, payout no bonus %

      • I’m sorry I misunderstood. I thought the “3.75% to all cash and xp” listed meant that it would increase all the cash and xp from all buildings, etc. I need to learn the lingo. 🙂

        • No, it was my mistake. Shouldn’t have said bonus %, you were correct in your thinking I just messed up. My computer crashed in the middle of writing it and i didn’t realize it restored that line (of ALL the lines in the post, just that line) to a previous version. I’ve corrected it in the post now, with an explanation. Sorry about that. Long couple of days lol

      • But, wait – your article above says the building offers a 3.75% bonus (which, coupled with the consumerism boost makes it much more appealing to me than a regular building, since I don’t really need a bunch more cash right now).

Can you clarify which is correct, the article or your comment? (Or am I just misreading something somehow? I’m pretty exhausted right now…)

        • The article is now correct, I fixed it.

There’s no bonus %, that’s my mistake. My computer crashed in the middle of writing it and i didn’t realize it restored that line (of ALL the lines in the post, just that line) to a previous version. It’s just the payout. And I didn’t catch it till just now as we ran out to dinner once I posted it, so just now getting home and noticed the error. All fixed. Long couple of days lol

  16. I definitely bought him, because heaven forbid I not have ALL THE THINGS. HAVE THEM!!!

  17. Couldn’t resist as he’s too cute. Even broke my rule about reading the should I buy first. Didn’t even notice the multiplier and glad to know it boosts consumerism!

  18. So the building is basically a decoration that earns no income? For the price, that’s pretty disappointing.

    • It earns $90 10xp/2hrs. My computer crashed in the middle of writing it so I didn’t realize it restored to a previous version.

      • Oh no! I hope you didn’t lose any data!

        • Fortunately everything was backed up, just blue screen of death for a little while lol Having bad luck with computers lately

          • I hate that blue a recent of death. I got it once at work, immediately backed up and then just afterwards, the entire computer died. Technology is awesome when it works right. 😉

  19. I’m Sideshow Bob fan, so I’m gonna have to collect the entire Terwilliger family, however they are released.

    Purchased.

  20. I’m reeeeeeally tempted, because I’m pretty sure I yell VENDETTA, VENDETTA at least once a week, but I’m freemium so I’m going to hold out and see what else comes down the pipe…

  21. I scooped him up right away. Kind of reminds me of simpsons answer to Chucky, y’know the horror flick doll, similar hair, similar outfit.

  22. I already got him. It’s too bad that his building is only for Squidport though.

  23. Torn….

On the one hand another Premium character to help finance my booming Springfield expansions and helps fill the Terwilliger family collection. On the other, 150 donuts is a lot to spend.

I think I’ll wait till Act 3 to decide if I want him, and how many of the other members of the family I collect.

Deep question: Since SSB is an NPC in the family collection if we recruit him as a NPC will he stop visiting under other circumstances (under the Righteousness negatives category)

  24. so it has a 3.75% bonus multiplier on top of the $90 and 10xp it makes every 2 hours? that’s the only info given when you click on the info button on it in the store.

    • No. There’s no bonus %, that’s my mistake. My computer crashed in the middle of writing it and i didn’t realize it restored that line (of ALL the lines in the post, just that line) to a previous version. It’s just the payout.

  25. I am very tempted, but wil hold off…for now.

    Vendetta, vendetta!

  26. Do you think im ok sending lisa to do the 24hr task as I want to continue his questline but I dont want to muck up the event questline as im unsure if lisa will be needed soon, im just up to sending a glutton to try something, just after you get the seeds, so I was wondering what you think, thanks in advance 🙂

    • If you’ve finished the main questline for the event, and unlocked neighbor actions (ie you’ve completed Chaos She-ory) you’re safe to do the 24hr task. She’s only needed then for corn earning, and you should have other kids that can earn corn.
