Should I Spend Donuts on the Republican Party Headquarters?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Terwilligers are making their way back into Springfield! And with Act One there are a bunch of new premium items in our stores for purchase, including one onminous HQ !  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add the Republican Party HQ to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this creepy looking building to YOUR Springfield!

republicanpartyhq_menu

Building/Decoration: Republican Party HQ
Donut Price: 90 Donuts
Earning: $500, 45xp/24hrs
Conform-O-Meter: Obedience +10
Where Can I Place It?:  Springfield Only
Size: 8×8, and it’s pretty tall.  To put it into perspective…it’s taller than the Sunsphere and Zenith City Times, but Shorter than the Superior Squad HQ (but not by much).

Pros:
-Unique/cool looking building for Springfield
-Decent Payout
-If you played during Clash of Clones, it’ll fit in nicely with the castles.
-Plays sound when tapped, and always animated.  Birds on ledge move

Cons:
-No questlines associated with it
-No character interaction
-It’s pretty big, and could be hard to fit into an already crowded Springfield

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
Honestly, I’m still on the fence with this one.  I like how it looks and I like that this one has a Conform-O-Meter impact and a decent payout, but it’s a trade off for the higher price.  With no character interaction & no questline, I do think I’ll end up passing on this one.  However, if you think it’s something that’ll work well in your Springfield (or you just love the episode that it’s from) it’s not a bad buy.  The HQ, unlike the Swordfish Museum, does impact the conform-o-meter…although Obedience is becoming easier and easier to max out.

Freemium Take:
Freemium players, stay away from this one.  The cons on this far outweigh the pros.  Save your donuts for something better down the line.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you, while I’m still undecided I am leaning heavily towards passing on it.   However, whatever you decide just remember that this HQ will be leaving our stores when Act Two starts, so if you’re thinking about it getting it make sure you make your final decisions before April 28th or you’ll miss your chance.

What are your thoughts on the Republican Party HQ?  Will you be spending the donuts to bring it to your Springfield (or did you already)? Where have you placed it in your Springfield?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. I was on the fence about this one. After all, I’m trying to be a fiscal conservative with my donuts! Also, I haven’t seen it in my Neighboreenos’ towns. But then I read the comments to this post and decided I had to join in on the fun. I love political humor. I’m not sure if there was a Democrat HQ in the show, but they should make one for the game, too!

(I also got the Halloween pile. I figure it’ll keep me busy between events. So much for being conservative with my sprinklies!)

  2. I still think that Dr. Hibbert should have a task in there. After all, he does have a task in the White Houses to attend a Republican meeting. But it’s still a cool building. And with the right decorations, the sign can be covered (I saw it in a neighbor’s town. I can’t south m afford that lol).

  3. If politics makes anyone that angry, you should probably stay away from it. Find what makes you happy.

  4. Looks cool. ****

    • Read comments further down. This is a blog about TSTO not a political blog. Please leave the political comments (on either side) to yourself.

  5. *Finally* we get a castle for our Springfield! 😉 Obviously, I’m being sarcastic. That said, I think I will have to get this one. Too bad there’s no character interaction with it though.

  6. Haha I bet you are the same type of person crying about net neutrality, yet you censor harmless political rants. Censorship in any form is wrong. I would arguing saying that its the party of common sense is overtly political.

    • Honestly I could care less who’s on which side. I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion and there’s a place for that. THIS is not that place. THIS is a Simpsons Tapped Out Site. Talk about The Simpsons or TSTO. This is NOT a political site, nor do I have any intention of letting it turn into one. So get over it or move on.

      • I agree Alissa. No need to political rants on this website. Good job.

      • It’s your site and you are free to set standards for discourse, but maybe it’s a point worth noting that The Simpsons was such a revolutionary force in mass culture because of, partly at least, their willingness to interject politics into what was formerly a controversy-averse medium. TSTO itself contains lots of political jokes, as you know. So maybe you should be like the Simpsons and allow *sarcastic* political speech!

        • It’s not a matter of making political jokes. It’s a matter of using political opinions to attack others. THIS is not the place for it. And honestly i’m tried of saying it.

So please just let it go…and that goes for everyone.

I could care less what party you’re affiliated with…just let it go.

    • @shanehopt — Here’s the thing. Most adults who play a lighthearted game like TSTO are aware of real-world politics, but we don’t play this game in order to have yet another forum or blog in which to discuss politics. There are appropriate places for that, but this just isn’t one of them. Now I realize that TSTO is based on the Simpsons animated cartoon, and that said cartoon often dips its toes into the waters of politics (and the game has done so from time to time and with this building and this event), but that still doesn’t make this an appropriate place for serious political discussion. There are players here from every part of the political spectrum — including non-US-centric views — and any political discussion is likely to drive away some of those players.

  7. I might buy a Democrat HQ 🙂

  8. Snapped it up right away! Republican HQ has tickled me since it’s first appearance on the show, and I always got a kick out of it the couple of times they brought it back. 🙂
I haven’t been a fan so much of all the castles in the game. I know some people love them- they’re just not my thing for my town. If there was infinite land? Absolutely. But I still couldn’t pass this one up. Now I’ve got my first pseudo-castle, all nice and sinister, set up in the woods along with the volcano lair. 🙂

    • looks great next to the volcano and the tire fire! and nice touch with the two lard lads in front… do they both have secret entrances into the republican party hq, or does one lead to the gates of hades? oh wait….

btw, just wanted to say i was truly impressed with your town! everything felt so natural, from the huge rural area near the hq to the urban landscaping in the city, and i can honestly say that i felt like i was looking at a real town. good shit new neighboreeno!

  9. I would get this IF I had the donuts which I sadly don’t …purely because of the were wolf howls when you tap on it : D

*Enviously looks and taps on it again in neighbours town!*

  10. It is kind of cool looking and the only thing missing is a small moat around it.
Every time something new (and rather large appears) I want to place in a corner because of it’s size, so I can build around it.
Only problem is I STILL only have 4 corners!
    lol
( some G rated humor to offset anything else that may attempt to make it here, remember what Alissa says…please keep things nice)
    : )

  11. To me, it’s JAC (just another castle)!

Freemium, so not enough donuts to buy, even if I was inclined to do so.

  12. Republican Party HQ
This Tapper lol’d when seeing this Building available for purchase (the only reasons I would not encourage spending donuts for this large Building? Welll they’re already listed under the Cons – No New Quest, No New Character, No room for it – and its not offering any help during the new Event) …

  13. I bought it and it fits in real well next to the spooky tree, guillotine, canon, and giant ray gun. Go ahead and get it, the laughs will pay for it over time.

  14. Does anybody know what happened to Mr. Teeny (Krusty’s helper monkey)? I haven’t seen him since the new update.

  15. Do you know if the same crafting items be available in part 2 and 3 ?

    • They should be, at least for Act 2. Just more will be added

      • Thanks, Alissa! I was just going to ask the same question. I leveled my research building to 7 and was debating on whether to start crafting or save the corn/fertilizer to see what appears in Act 2. Since this stuff will stick around, I’m going to hold off. 🙂
Corn and fertilizer are easy to get, yes, but the amounts needed for crafting are pretty steep!

  16. I’m planning to get it!! A Question!! I am to the point in my game where at the Resourse Center, it won’t let me get a building that says will be available to me! I get a Black Screen on acct of “Act 2 ? Could u explain?? 😀

  17. i want this, cant afford it.

    frowny face.

  18. Im a Freemium player and can’t afford it. I was wondering if EA is going to add some Freemium items for the people who can’t afford the Premium ones.

  19. I got because I hope/feel Bob will use it.

  20. The Problem Child

It does fit in well with my evil area of town. Burns Manor, Volcano Lair, Death Mountain and Bad Dream House.

  21. with all the recent castles, i almost lol’d when i saw this offering… until i realized it was the republican party hq! then i saw the magnitude of it in jebus’ town and knew i was gonna end up blowing donuts on this. guys, this is a way more meaningful purchase than the previous blarney castle offering. not only is it cheaper (90 vs 115), it actually IS from springfield, making its first appearance in yet another classic episode, Sideshow Bob Roberts. i also wouldn’t be surprised if a task or two is added to it at some point, maybe even during this event. if you do decide to get it though, don’t forget to place one of your newly won lard lads in its vicinity… 😉

  22. I know two people have already started this, but I have to echo the fact that it’s crazy that Dr. Hibbert’s task doesn’t take him there now!

But it wouldn’t matter if it did… Definitely not interested in having a Republican headquarters in my town unless I have to! 😉

    • if you understood the political atmosphere of the show, i think you would… 😉 goes great in the evil part of town!

    • It is a classic Simpsons item. Too bad it’s a mockery of ******; I don’t want to spend money on a mockery of *****.

      • It has been in the show several times. Members include Burns, the Rich Texan, Krusty and Dracula.

      • *****

        • OK…I’m going to say this once and that’s it. THIS is NOT a political Blog. Political discussion is NOT welcomed here. It’s a blog about a game. Talk about the game, talk about why or why not you’ll buy something in the game. HOWEVER do NOT talk about your personal political opinions here. They will not be approved.

          Got it?

And velvet this isn’t just for you…this is for everyone.

    • I understand the need to keep these types of political comments out of the TSTO addicts realm, and that is fine. But fair is fair. If you are blocking some political commentary, you should be consistent in blocking all, from both sides.
Why are BA_Brisk’s comments (here and elsewhere) not also being censored for being “political discussion” the same way others’ comments have? Stating EA is mocking “the party who actually cares” is definitely overtly political and shows the “political bias” that you’ve stated as your reason for blocking others’ comments. There is an appearance of inconsistency in censoring decisions.

      • Because the comments that followed were significantly worse…and personal attacks on players. So I just put an end to it all together. Actually I think I’ll just disable comments on this feed all together. It just all needs to stop & i thought it did.

  23. I bought it because I’m a PoliSci major and I am super into politics! It really does fit in well with the Clash of Clones event items. I also hope for more character interaction in the future, but I like it as is as well. 🙂

  24. I refuse to give money to EA for this item. I know they just take items from the show, but this has always offended me. Mocking republicans and portraying them as evil is offensive.

    • the irony of it is that the show airs on FOX.

    • I would normally agree here, but one thing this show did well is make fun of both sides pretty equally

    • The Problem Child

      *******

      • The last 2 comments from you have been edited as they’re intentionally written too insight anger. This is not a political blog so please leave your political bias at the door. Doesn’t matter who you vote for, but what you’ve stated is your opinion and not fact. I’d prefer to keep the political trash talking away from this site. Thank you.

    • The Problem Child

Yet you let this person above post this whining comment that brought up politics.

      • The one comment I approved was that person stating why they didn’t want to buy it. Simply their opinion about why they didn’t purchase it, any other comments I did not see. However, your comment wasn’t your opinion about why you wanted to buy it it was a comment that wasn’t fact and completely your opinion about one political party or another. The difference is your comment would have opened a can of worms that I don’t want on this site, the other comment was just an opinion about why they didn’t want to buy it. There’s a difference.

Had you said…I purchased it because I think it’s funny they way they make fun of republicans. That would have been allowed. Make sense?

    • Completely agree. No donuts from me either.

      • Its a gag from the show. If you actually watched the episode it is where sideshow bob uses dead pets to get him elected as governor. So if the castle is offensive to you I don’t think you really understand the simpsons. For petes sake they have a vampire as a Republican.

    • Have you never watched the simpsons?

  25. I’m surprised Dr. Hibbert’s task isn’t there – I pretty much assumed it would be. Not a big deal either way, but still. I bought it bc I buy everything, but I did think this episode in particular was hilarious.

  26. I wish they change the “attend republican meeting” for dr. Hibbert to there. And also maybe throw in some of the other republicans to have a meeting there. Would also be cool if the building came with Count Choc-ula, even if he was a NPC.

  27. Well, I got this because it may come in use later when we start getting more of the Twilligers in the game.
