Should I Spend Donuts on Willie’s Tractor?

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

The Terwilligers are making their way back into Springfield! And with Act One there are a bunch of new premium items in our stores for purchase, and earlier this morning another item was introduced for a limited-time…Willie’s Tractor!  Now I know you may be trying to decide if this is worth YOUR donuts, but don’t sweat it!  We’re here to tell you what’s worth the donuts and what you might want to hold off on.

Wondering if you should add Willie’s Tractor to YOUR Springfield?  Well before you hit that confirm button let’s break down the pros and cons of adding this red riding machine to YOUR Springfield!

williestractor_menu

Building/Decoration: Willie’s Tractor
Donut Price: 35 Donuts
Bonus %: 0.75% bonus on all cash and XP
Conform-O-Meter: Vanity +100
Where Can I Place It?:  Grass or Pavement
Size: 4×3
Unique?: Yes, only 1 per Springfield

Pros:
-Animated decoration.  When tapped it shakes and smoke comes out of the pipe.
-Classic Simpsons item

Cons:
-No questlines associated with it
-No character interaction
-Bonus % isn’t that great, considering for 40 donuts (Police Car) you can get a 2% bonus.

Final Thought:
Premium Take:
Honestly, this one is a tossup for me.  It’s one of those items you’re either going to grab because you like it or you’re going to pass on because meh, what do you need it for?
I don’t think you should pick it up for the bonus % or the Conform-O-Meter impact, as there are better items in the store that will help you in both areas.  However, if it’s something you like and have fond Simpson memories of pick it up.

Freemium Take:
Although the price is tempting, I do think this one is a freemium pass.  There are really no benefits to adding it to your Springfield, other than the look.  And I know for freemium players those sprinkles are hard to come by, so pass on this one and save them for something better down the road.

Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…and I can tell you, I’m still undecided about getting this one.  I do have fond Simpson memories with the tractor, but trying to decide if I have space for it is a whole different issue.  However, whatever you decide just remember that this tractor will be leaving our stores soon, so if you’re thinking about it getting it make sure you make your final decisions before May 5th or you’ll miss your chance.

  1. Do you think it will return? I accidentally missed it.

  2. Well I see it as you’re TSTO is an extension of you. If you are a premium player is say 35 doughnuts ain’t gonna break the bank and its iconic and there will be more computing powerful devices later on to have more things on screen and honestly you can place some things in the box at the moment anyway so in my opinion it’s a worth while buy.

It’s of course like all say in the end it is you’re decision.

And if you take into account how they gave sound to the floating fortress maybe with enough word of mouth they’ll work on it be give willie a task. Maybe 2 if lucky. One where he works outside on it and 2nd he chases Bart around town. Happy tapping addicts.

  3. I am really disappointed I bought this item. 😣. When you put out the we need to sleep & more to come post I just assumed it was a side-quest. Or at the very least a task for Willie. Maybe to chase Bart with the tractor. (Loved R that episode!!!) Expensive error on my part as I am a freemium player. I know EA is a business & the game is awesome for a free game but it is still soooooo frustrating to work so hard to earn up the donuts. I can not even imagine how much money all you Premium players put into your Sprinfield.

  4. HAPPY EARTH DAY ONE & ALL,
This is a pass for me, especially since I received the 4500 warning. I have to thank both Alissa, for warning me in advance & Bunny, as Alissa relayed this was the problem with your town crashing!
I immediately went back to my town & sold bunch of houses was nice that EA had just started being generous with their by back prices, so I made a ton of money & my town looks so much better!
Now I’m very picky about what I buy, this is a no brainier, no tasks, can’t drive vehicles on road, lousy pay out. I would rather buy seedlings, as I want the farmers market, & seeds help me & friends.
Thanks girls for all the hard work with this event!

  5. I’m hoping they will go back and add a sound byte to it as they did with the Radatation Air Fortress. It was silent when it first came out and then they added the mechanical whirring in an update, which really upped the appeal for those who shelled out the pink glazed sweeities. If the tractor follows suit it should be the laughing bit. I bought it in hopes it would laugh and the lid would fall off 🙂

  6. This is the first premium decoration I’ve ever considered, simply because it’s so flippin’ iconic. It seems strange to have Willie WITHOUT his tractor. I wish it was a community prize instead of a limited time donut prize.

  7. I would get this in a heartbeat if Willy and Bart could ride it.

  8. “Of course in the end it’s your decision, we can only tell you what we would/wouldn’t do…”

You have under-estimated our reliance on your posts… We do what your posts tell us to do… :p

  9. I rarely buy freemium decorations but I am considering this one, I love Willie, if there was even one task with Willie it’d be a no brainer but for now I’m pondering.

  10. “Because meh, what do you need it for?” quote of the day. Also exactly how I feel.

  11. I’d like to have it but the maths just doesn’t stack up. And I’m an inherently logical person – sometimes that really annoys me 😉

I am so stuck right now! I can’t find the premium menu so i can get more of the mystery box before it disappears!

    • Ok here’s how you access the premium menu, ready?

Open up your store…expand the store (arrow) and you’ll see all these icons. Tap the one that looks like Homer Buddha and that’s the premium menu. Then to to the very first item (on the left) and that should be your mystery box.

  13. No hesitation on this one it’s sitting in my farm section 🙂

  14. Willie’s Tractor
It may cost 35 Donuts, it may be animated, it may be cute – but no Quest? no Willie Interaction? no Event related crafting earned? No Bueno EA !!

  15. I picked it up because I’m obsessed with the Halloween episodes and this was in one of those. Maybe a weird reason, but that’s why it’s in my Springfield now 🙂

  16. Man – I really wish this had been an event prize, instead of a premium item. As a primarily freemium player, I can’t justify purchasing it (for the reasons given), but I’d really like to have it in my town!

    • Same thing here… I won’t be spending 35 donuts (or $2,80) if there’s no interaction and not even a real bonus. I think you’re absolutely right, this would have made a really nice prize, I would have loved to get this instead of another NPC… 😉

  17. I got it as soon as I saw it.. need it?, NO.. just wanted it, cause.. and happy to have it down on the farm.

  18. Bangles Dupree

Got the tractor right away for my farm. Willy is one of my favorite characters! I won 10 donuts the other day in my mystery box, so I feel like I got it on sale. 🙂

  19. Yah. This is a toss up for me, too. I like the item, itself. But it’s a lot of donuts for no much benefit, aside from nostalgia. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’m still mulling over the limited time stand-alone buildings, too. I know there’s a lot more event coming and probably should save my sprinkles…

  20. I had to grab it because whenever I see it, I’ll hear, “C’mon, Bart, drive me. Bawk! Bawk! Bawk!”

  21. I think I’m going to save the donuts for this tractor, just because of the good memories from the episodes. I loved it when fruit-bat-man captured Willy on the tractor. Ah, memories.

  22. had to get this one. hate that it has such a crappy bonus, and really only got it for its looks… and nostalgia’s sake. willy’s tractor made its first appearance in yet another classic simpsons episode, “Radio Bart” where bart gets that radio and throws it down the well, pretending to be an orphan boy named timmy o toole.

i love that ea keeps bringing in classic characters and items from the days i used to watch the show as a kid. oh and i gotta say, while i still consider myself to be a freemium player, having plenty of donuts on hand sure changes one’s perspective on what becomes a “must” buy… and it sure makes this addiction of mine more fun! i cashed in my erewards and other forms of gift card credit currency i’d been saving up for a while and bought a boatload before the end of the superheroes event. even with no real money involved on my part, it took me a while to convince myself to pull the trigger… but now that i did, i have no regrets whatsoever! i mean yeah sure, this is a free game, and it can be played without having to spend a cent on it. but considering how much of my free time this occupies, it truly sucks being limited to window shopping. i haven’t gone on a binge and bought every building+character combo i want yet, nor do i intend to. more than anything, i wanna save them for the limited time items that pop up during events like this. but i have gone ahead and picked up a few things i’d had my eye on since i first started playing the game, like the boardwalk fountain, the worldwide broadcast dish, the chicken coop and backwater brewery for cletus’ farm, and a couple other smaller items. and the freedom to do that is so…. liberating!

i am, and always will be, a freemo player, but that doesn’t mean i can’t find alternative ways to get those donuts. and best believe that’s what i’m gonna keep doing!

    • Ummm… Once you buy a boatload, I think you’ve lost your “freemium cred”! 😉

      • haha i don’t mind if you don’t feel that way, but the fact of the matter is, i didn’t spend any of my money on it. i also practiced great restraint saving up over a long period, as i could’ve gotten truckloads here and there, but chose to maximize my value by waiting until i reached enough for a boatload, consolidating e-rewards, best buy rewards, and some itunes gift card credit i had leftover to get it. i’m telling ya, get on those e-rewards surveys! once you do, i guarantee you won’t mind if others think you lost your freemium cred! 😉

      • heh oops, that shoulda said i don’t mind if you feel that way.

      • I’ve wondered about that “loop hole” (for lack of a better term). If you bought doughnuts using REWARDS or gift cards (received from other people), then technically, YOU did not spend any of your own money, right? Therefore, can you still call yourself “freemium”?

OR is it the fact that you handled a monetary transaction (regardless of where the credit/cash came from), deem you a premium player?

Either way, please feel free to send any gift cards or google rewards c/o your Uncle, over here.

        😄😝

    • i def know I’m not a freemium player.
I’m an TSTO addict and honestly it’s less bad to say We lol have spent money on this game compared to say family guy. I mean family guy is fun and all but it will never be TSTO. It’s like comparing starwars battlefront to call of duty. Sure call of duty is fun but saying you’re way through tons of real live people online plus tons of ai enemy’s that fight almost like real people is epic.

And that’s why us TSTO fans can justify splurging on this game as the Simpsons are iconic to millions of fans around the world. And yes they did it first.

But no you’re not totally a freemium player after a boatload. That’s a 100 dollars on a game. I haven’t even spent that on an home console system.
And cod has tons of map packs.

      Later happy tapping…

  23. Marc from Nova Scotia

Thanks so much for these ‘Should I Spend Donuts…’ posts. I’ve been eagerly awaiting your comments on this one. Honestly, all I would’ve needed to pursue me was knowing that it included a permanent task involving Willie actually riding this thing. Considering its meager bonus %, this one’s a total pass for me. 40 donuts saved, thanks to you!

  24. Lol, I feel like this one’s a lose-lose for me. If I don’t get it, I’ll regret it every time I covet it in a neighbor’s town. If I DO get it, I’ll smack myself for spending 35 donuts on another semi-useless decoration when my town’s already at the limit of items.
Great breakdown, though, so thank you!!
Now off to mull about it for 13 days, buy it at the last second, and then regret it immediately after. 😉 Happy tapping, all!

  25. I picked it up as soon as I saw it – just thought it was cool.

  26. lol did anyone else get an error from the game warning you that you got over 4500 items in your town? Because it warned me about performance because I got well over 4500 items in my town, this includes buildings and people as well apparently according to the warning msg. I guess it wouldn’t be considered a “error” but does the game or EA for that matter they don’t expect you to try to add as much as you can? Rly? Not to mention custom things like “3d” type buildings made by us.Which requires quite a bit of the same item over and over. Just wanted to ask….because I found that funny…

    • Funny, got the same message today for the first time ever. I have a well designed town and have been designing all day. It then reminded again at 4,650 items that I was over the 4500 “limit” and could experience problems in the games performance.

      • Don’t take it lightly. I was locked out of my game for 3 months for pushing it. It’s not a wise decision.

You’re on a mobile device, trying to push it to its very limits to play a game that’s mass coding is more for a gaming system. Because of this, you have to help your device (and your neighbors) by keeping the memory drain in your town to a minimum. In other words, the MORE you have the more millions of lil pixels your device has to render every time you open your game. Same with your Neighbors visiting.

Examples of what can happen if pushed….
        *Locked out of game
        *Items start glitching badly
*Neighbors on lesser capable devices trying to visit you can’t. Kicks them out of game
        *Really bad lag on actions
        *Game constantly crashing

      • Ya my game DOES crash on a regular basis, so now I know why. And ya I do get glitches buildings that are animated glitches…..the thing is I dont know what to get rid of….everything looks good. And the thing is I dont even have every spot used, I dont even have all the property taken up with stuff. Oh, and I’m playing on Bluestacks not on anything mobile. So its actually on my computer.

  27. Here is another example of when ‘getting the police car is a better alternative choice.’ Not complaining, but it is making the police car ever more tempting for this virtually freemium player.

    • lol it’s a good buy…

      • I did win 2 *free* Lard Lad Doughnut buildings on back-to-back weekly mystery boxes. 😀
Maybe one could use a police cruiser in front if it! LOL!

    • Jet Engine Bike is actually the best deal of all… Nothing has a higher multiplier-to-donut ratio and it takes up very few (2?) squares!

      • @ 30 doughnuts for a 2.00% bonus, the jet-engine bike is a good deal. (Just found out the ambulance gives a hideous return, 0.50%… for the same price as JEB?! Bah Humbug!)

Although there is one vehicle that trumps even the bike!
NEWS VAN …if won through a mystery box, that is.
        LOL!

      • Well, currently the Mystery Box arguably has a better multi-to-donut ratio, but in terms of a single item, you’re right.

      • Swiss – Well, that depends on what you’ve already won from the Mystery Box, too. Once you’ve gotten the “unique” premium items, then it’s possible that the odds may swing away from that being case. But I’m not sure, because I’m still not quite sure exactly how the odds adjust as one eliminates unique items from the pool.

  28. Hi, this is not a question related to the lost, but, it is possible to collect 14,000 fertilizers in the next 6 days to get the farm market?, my monsarno building is lvl 6 and I can upgrade to level 7 at this moment. Thank you

  29. I had 40 donuts saved up for it so got it. Parked it outside the school. I have a memory of it from when Bart rode it. I then got 2 donuts from clearing up debris, bought a mystery box and got Lard Lad 😀
