Terwilliger Prize Guide: Act 1, Prize 4…Old Simpson Farmhouse

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

It’s Harvest Time in Springfield and the Terwilliger’s have returned to Springfield to unleash Mutant Vegetables on us!  In the First Act of the Terwilliger Event you’ll unlock Cecil Terwilliger, Monsarno Research & help Lisa free the Mutant Veggies all over Springfield!

This Event is broken up into 3 Acts, with each Act containing part of the story.  To help you move along with the event you’ll get several prizes per Act.  Each prize will either be something fun for Springfield or something to help you move along in the event.  For the first Act you’re tasked with collecting Spades/Trowels/Shovels…these things ico_terwilligers_spades_lg to unlock each prize!  The second Act 1 prize awarded at 4,200 ico_terwilligers_spades_lg is the Old Simpson Farmhouse, a new building for your Springfield.

So let’s take a closer look at this old farmhouse and just what happens when you unlock it in your Springfield.

Once you’ve collected 4,200 ico_terwilligers_spades_lg  you’ll automatically be awarded the Farmhouse and you’ll see this message popup:

2015-04-20 01.35.36

You’ll have the ability to place the statue in your Springfield immediately or place it in inventory for later (store).  If you store it, remember you’ll have to go into your inventory to retrieve it.

And that’s really it to the second prize.  There’s no questline, no dialogue, nothing telling you to place it in your Springfield to earn more ico_terwilligers_spades_lg.  Just win the prize and that’s it.

Here are some quick facts about the Old Simpson Farmhouse:

Conform-O-Meter Impact: Indolence +10
Where Can I Place It?: Grass only
What Does it Earn?: $520, 50xp/ 2days
Does Anyone Use It?:
Nope, not currently.

Glitch Alert!
There is an ongoing glitch with the Old Simpson Farm House.  Apparently, if you unlock it and then sign in on a different device you can unlock a second one.  This is a glitch, and not supposed to happen.  Happy glitch if it happens to you 🙂

What’s Next?
Well there are three prizes after the Farmhouse, Mutant Seeds, Fertilizer and Corn.  I’m not going to do separate posts about them as it’s pretty basic.  Once you unlock them it will add more Mutant Seeds to your in game count and Fertilizer or Corn to your Crafting Totals.  (Remember crafting totals can be found at the top of your event hub…Trophy Icon with the knives bottom right.  The totals will be in the top right of the event hub.  While your Mutant Seed count can be found on the bottom left of your main Springfield, just above the Conform-o-Meter stars and right next to your ico_terwilligers_spades_lg count)

Here’s a quick breakdown…

ico_stor_terwilligers_mutantseed_50 Awarded at 6,000 ico_terwilligers_spades_lg.  This will add 50 Mutant Seeds to your total Mutant Seed count.  Mutant Seeds can be left in your neighbors towns and will help you both earn more Corn, Fertilizer and ico_terwilligers_spades_lg.  More details on Mutant Seeds can be found in our neighbor breakdown here.  Also note, to leave Mutant Seeds in your neighbors town you’ll want to look for the seed icon in the top right corner of the screen when you visit a neighbor.  Here’s a look at what that icon will look like.

ico_stor_terwilligers_fertilizer_200 Awarded at 7,800 ico_terwilligers_spades_lg.  This will add 200 Fertilizer to your total Fertilizer count (found in the Event Hub).  This is not a tangible item for Springfield, it’s just 200 Fertilizer added to your total on hand.

ico_stor_terwilligers_corn_200 Awarded at 11,000 ico_terwilligers_spades_lg.  This will add 200 Corn to your total Corn count (found in the Event Hub).  This is not a tangible item for Springfield, it’s just 200 Corn added to your total on hand.

Next Tangible Prize for Springfield…

petmutantplant_idle Pet Mutant Plant awarded at 16,050 ico_terwilligers_spades_lg.  This will be the next prize we cover in a prize rundown post.

So that my friends is the full breakdown of the Old Simpson Farmhouse!

What do you think of the Farmhouse?  Thoughts about Fertilizer and Corn being a prize?  How about Mutant Seeds?  How about the event overall?  What are you most looking forward to?  Sound off in the comments below, you know we love hearing from you!

  1. Is it smart to hang on to as many Mutant Seedlings as possible (but dropping them into neighbors who drops in my town)? Or should I been dropping all that I have and get rid of them? Will they be used in Act 3 as well? I thought I read your opinion somewhere in the past but haven’t been able to find it again..sorry if I’m repeating something you already answered….

    • I saved over 60 from Act 1 to 2, and then dropped them all when Act 2 started. But it can really go either way. They will be used in Act 3, if you want to save some it’s not a bad idea…but still be sure to help your neighbors out that help you 🙂

  2. Old Simpson Farmhouse
    Earned this last week
    Pet Mutant Plant
    Will earn this tomorrow
(This event has been fun) 🙂

  3. I’m with the other haters on this current event. Having played Whacking Day, there has yet to be a better event. I’m also a female and think that made superheroes and COC pretty boring to me. Of course I want the prizes because I am a completist. But Whacking Day had the best prizes and these don’t compare. EVERY time I log in to my game, I see the hotel, the arena, the statue, the snake with the helmet and shirtless Willy. This current event creeped me out at first, I am not familiar with Terwilliger. When I got the update late, saw what the event was, etc, I thought maybe my playing days are coming to an end. But I keep on tapping for now.

  4. I think the Farmhouse is one of the more beautiful buildings in the game, with the stone chimney, un-mown grass, wraparound porch, etc. Lots of attention to artistic detail. Just looking at it, you can almost hear the shutters creaking and the plains wind whipping through the empty rooms and halls. Glad they added it to the game!

  5. All these prizes are pretty weak. No questline or tasks for a building that has HUGE Simpsons mythos to it, and an NPC? C’mon guys, really?

    • I agree with you 100%. So unnecessarily repetitive for such a weak payoff. Events are lasting too long all of a sudden

  6. I was one who got 2 farms and also 2 statues the same way. Love it! Think I’ll make a big farm area.

  7. Im really hoping that we can craft from tomacco fields in the next act similar to the cane fields (I’d like to get a where did that come from for the crafting items… Can’t say I know any of them) I love having the farm!

  8. Aaargghh! Have an upgrade available for the Monsanto building but it looks like we will have to wait until act two before we can actually upgrade it – soooo frustrating seeing as though it is almost a week before it starts! Almost have our pet mutant plant but still miles away from being able to craft the farmers market or any of the other items, the market seems to be the only craftable item worth getting so hopefully act two will unlock some other cool buildings/prizes…

  9. I love the farmhouse! I just wish, Homer or Abe or someone could use it. I cant wait to rearrange my town and make it pretty. These events wear me out though and then I am too tired to redesign my town then they start a new event, which is fun, but I never get around to redesigning.
On a side note, is anyone else tapping Brandine thinking she is a mutant plant? I think it’s the crazy hair.

  10. yay! bring on the crafting guide…waiting (im) patiently…

  11. Was a bit disappointed the farm wasn’t bigger but hey perhaps that’s what all those cane fields are for …once I get enough for even one that is!

But I am really excited about getting my own pet mutant plant (not sure I will be smoking it though) lol : )

  12. Well, I put the crap silo right next to the farm. Do we need to craft all the items before Act 1 ends or will it continue through out the event? I don’t think I read that anywhere.

  13. Got the old farmhouse, and now working through the penultimate item – with any luck, I should be getting the pet plant before the act finishes, which does make a change…

  14. A couple of stray thoughts: I noticed that several characters (Krusty, etc) have locked tasks involving higher levels of our event building. Some of them look interesting. Can’t wait to see them in act 2.
Also, looking at my own forest-y area, EA should give us a small camping tent. Would go well with campfire, minnow pond, fever cabin, torn pole, water, and trees. Just saying.

  15. Love the Simpson farm! It’s a very nice looking little building. I enjoyed positioning it near Cletus’ farm and adding in a few crops for it. It needs to be able to grow tomacco though! 🙂

  16. What’s better, upgrading monsarno for more tasks or saving to craft items?

  17. Willies Tractor?!?!?! Where does that fit in this event or did it just pop in random? It was 35 donuts I believe 0.75% . When you tap it, it shakes and smoke… Not sure if it comes with a quest line because I have Willie busy

    • Yea a post is coming. Sorry I didn’t write a should I Buy at 4am…sleep was slightly more important to me 😉

It’s a tractor, it’s a farming update. Makes sense to me.

  18. I remember the Farmhouse been used in “Grampa vs Sexual Indequacy” where they go back to the house Homer grew up as a child. It was seen again when Homer made that Tomacco food product in “Ei-Ei-DOH!”.

  19. At worst you can smoke it??? He’ll thats best.!!!!!

  20. As soon as I saw the farmhouse, I knew I’d seen that episode:
    Season 11 Episode 5: E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)
    http://www.simpsonsworld.com/video/302847555697

  21. Generally a very boring and time consuming event thus far. With no real items to purchase for freemium players and the amount of time it takes to collect items for crafting it has been really aggravating. 7 more days is a long time to wait still for Act 2. Hope it’s not as boring as Act 1

    • So like every other TSTO Event?

      • No not really! Superheroes and stone cutters seemed to be faster and have more stuff to entertain you. I don’t know. Just how it seems to me I guess.

        • It was all a grind. You were tapping Criminals to earn currency and stuff to craft. Less questlines. Stonecutters was the same deal, only you had 2 daily tasks. Both events very few freemium items, just the prizes.

Difference is those events have past. It happens every time, people think one event was better or different because it’s not the current one going on. They’re all the same. Same grinding for prizes. Tap this to earn that, move this to get that. Same stuff, just different ways of doing it.

      • That’s not true. This event has less valuable prizes, much mor snoring tasks, weak story, and is even longer. It’s cool we get bob, Simpson farm, houseboat, and gas and go, but everything else will sit in storage. If something is going to sit in storage once an event is over then at least make it entertaining while it lasts.

        • It’s only Act 1…relax.

Everyone has their opinion and certainly you’re entitled. Personally I prefer to reserve Judgement until the entire event is over..

      • Exactly my point

    • Is “time consuming” a bad thing?
Aren’t these games meant to be a diversion? As far as I can tell, just like any other event, you can play as little as you like. The difference here is that you can also play as *much* as you like.
I think that’s a good thing. But then, I’m an addict.

      • Agree 100%

      • 4kidsandacatdog

Excellent response! This game is supposed to be something of a mindless time-waster, which is why I love it. The fact that this event has employed some strategic thinking is a bonus. Also, the grinding does give some satisfaction when goals are attained. As I remember it, people complained about the prizes in the CoC event being too easily obtained and we’re also bored. Can’t please everyone all the time I guess.

      • 4kids…. (intrigued by the ‘catdog’)
Up to now it has been a mindless time-waster (I’ve only been playing 6 months though), what I love about this event is that it most definitely is NOT mindless. Although I’m sure it could be if that’s how a player chooses to play it.

There are only 2 faults I can find with it so far, 1) you can’t even get started if you can’t complete Cecil’s daily tasks and 2) you don’t know how many seedlings you have to catch

The first one doesn’t affect me, but I can see how mightily frustrating it must be for some folk. The 2nd one, I have spent way too much time looking for bright green blobs that might not even be there.

      • I feel it is not entirely mindless. There is some real estate strategies involved. At the same time there are income maximising moves to consider for the characters. Also there are time management and project management to achieve your goals..

      • Oh and there are “laying off” considerations for neighbours who are not playing according to your strategies.

      • You’re right Sean. And there are other aspects too, town design for example is absolutely not mindless – as I’m reminded with every showoff article. Still, this event brings in a strategic element that I haven’t seen before.

      • Ya know, I could have written a grumpy post last night too about the pace, prizes and no freemium stuff last night too. BUT, today I am tapping away with all the gusto of an addicted player again… There are times when our natural biorhythms takes a downswing and we get pissed off at everything for no reason at all, and this usually leads us to pour salt on our breakfast cereal instead of sugar, thus fueling the flames… So many events in a row without downtime. I need to collect my money to buy that new land but can`t because I need to leave something for my neighbors to tap on. I can`t get out of bed one hour early to start the daily tasks in case they are long, not 6 weeks in a row. Do I really give a crap about an event that forces if I skip a beat I will be playing catch-up all the way along forever after?… Don`t we all have moments with dark clouds over out heads and nothing is right, not even a game…

I was just there, and knew to take a break from it all… I slept in, did not even open the game, and did not give a rip about consequence… Biorhythms do upswing and the sun shines again… What is really interesting about this all… After a long break from the game, I am still two days ahead of the calendar schedule. I am having fun again, and may even get to play the extra-special donut round again. And was it only yesterday that this new event sucked… Yes … Relax and go with your flow…
Today I tap away in a fun way… yesterday was a day I put salt on my cereal… I understand grumpy – don`t we all…

      • It’s supposed to be time consuming in an entertaining way. Having all my characters locked up in indoor tasks over and over again for a weak reward is not entertaining.

    • Couldn’t agree more. The tasks are boring, the characters are uninteresting, the prizes are sub-par (In my opinion). There’s no real wow or fun factor with this event so far. But if I powered through the Clash of Clans event, I can tough this one out lol

      • See Dustin gets it! Nothing worth while and very few outdoor tasks. Act 1 has been a let down. Other events have had more entertainment value.
