Where Did THAT Come From – Farmer’s Market

In our silly lil game, we sometimes see things pop in that we have no clue as to their Origin. They seem familiar, but we just can’t pinpoint from where. So that is why we decided to make a fun lil reminder out of it. To let you know just Where Did THAT Come From?

For this post, we’ll be taking a look at one of the craftable items in the Terwilleger event… the Farmer’s Market. So why is this in our games? Does it have anything to do really with the Terwilligers? Let’s take a look at the TV Series to find out.

“The Day the Earth Stood Cool” (S24:E7)

After Homer realizes he’s not “cool” and can be mistaken for a grandpa, he meets a “cool” couple from Portland and tries out being a hipster. Ultimately, Springfield is taken over by hipsters when Springfield becomes as popular as toe sneakers. All of Springfield is made “cool”. Here’s some examples:

– Lard Lad Donuts is taken over by Devil Donuts
– Sprawl*Mart becomes America’s Apparel
– King Toot’s becomes King Toke’s Medical Marijuana Clinic
– The Android’s Dungeon becomes a store named Taschen (special thanks to Christob for letting me know this is a world-famous art-book publisher, not a kitschy Portland thing)
– Moe’s Tavern now serves Duff Blue Ribbon
– Springfield Elementary is renamed the Springfield Charter Co-Op Experiment including music class taught by The Decemberists

And of course, amongst this, the Springfield Tire Fire is repurposed as the Springfield Farmer’s Market. “The cool people are everywhere!”

Springfield Farmer's Market

So there’s your origin for this new craftable item in the Terwilleger Event. A symbol of Hipster Springfield. Kind of makes me laugh inside since I know how the hipsters would react knowing their market is part of an event all about GMOs. What do you think about the item? Actually earned enough to craft it yet? Sound off below and stay classy.

TTFN… Wookiee out!

  1. What am I doing wrong I just can’t seem to get the farmers market I have finished act 2 on level 15 of the monsarno building but just no getting anywhere still got good few thousand of fertilizer to get 😭😭

    • Could be the number of characters you have. Are you sending them on the shortest fertilizer tasks and clearing them right away and resetting them? That also helps.

  2. I’m tapping my fingers to the bone to get the farmers market. Only got 12735 fertiliser so far but I’m determined to get that goddam fm if it kills me. I’ve worked so hard and haven’t crafted anything else. Only at level 8 but it’s the only thing that I want!!!!!
Couldn’t bear to upgrade and lose that hard earned fertiliser even though that icon at Monsarno keeps bobbing up and down, begging me to spend my precious fertiliser….
Do I sound crazy to you?

  3. I did pretty well. I was able to craft the farmers market a few days ago, and made just enough for one cane field. I am determined to be able to craft everything.

  4. Have a seaside space all picked out for many farmer’s market, if I ever earn enough fertilizer to craft it! 🙂

And, if they sell it as a premium item in the future, I think it should be crazy expensive, to reflect the amount of time and effort that was involved in getting the original one during this event!

    • Maudlin Monarch.

I agree with you Sandra! …well, unless I don’t manage to craft it during this event. LOL!

As for my choice of location, after reading the WDTCF, maybe in front of the Tire Fire?

    • What does the Farmer’s Market do? Are there tasks related? Or is it just another building?

  5. Who would have thought the Burning Tires would be changed by hipsters into a Farmers Market (lol) thank you Simpsons)! If only crafting thls didn’t need so much Fertilizer (would be nice if EA could just lower the required Fertilizer to say an even 8,000 tonight)!

Must rewatch this episode of The Simpsons (I need a good lol)! 😉

  6. I have not been a consistent neighbour this past few days as I decided to pull back a bit from my usual manic tapping, but I expect about 1/3 of my neighbours to have the Springfield Farmers Up and running, selling local honey (strange since there have not been any bees in Springfield since Easter 2014), heirloom bananas (the ones that taste nothing like bananas), and crisp Empire apples.
I need a couple metric tons more of manure to reach that point, hopefully the price does not go up in Act 2.

BTW, it may have been posted before, but corn growing in Cletus’ Farm should contribute to the event revenue (my crop finished yesterday and that would have been a nice addition), because, you know, it IS ‘corn, actual corn’ that is harvested. On that note, it would also be nice if the bags of fertilizer could also be supplemented by Plotter’s ‘silo deposits’, because, you know…

  7. I still haven’t gotten this, less than a day left. It’s an insane amount of craft items needed. I started with completely upgrading my Research Center and now I’m way behind. I think having the same currency for upgrading and crafting was a mistake on EA’s part. 🙁

  8. The farmers market is going to take forever to get at this rate. I only have 6273 fertilizer and ive maybe taken one day off playing… Is it going to be available the whole promotion?

  9. *waves hello* …the ads on your site now seem to know me?!

eg. my best holiday destination is there AND apply for a new teaching job …!!

  10. Thanks for the “WDTCF” on the Market. I got mine on Friday and it looks great in my town.

And I ABSOLUTELY love the new Terwilligers Hair Banner! LOL I can’t stop giggling! 😀 😀 😀

Any chance of linking a higher res version of you three with your new dos? I can hardly see ya in the banner.

  11. After one week and two days work, I finally got my finger on this bad boy… What were they thinking putting the number of craft items needed so high?

  12. I live in Portland….If anyone wants to see the original Simpsons treehouse hit me up for PICS. I found it. Whoohoo! 🙂

  13. Great banner.
Loving the new do’s Wookiee and Alissa.

I crafted the farmers market the second I could.
I love my (real) farmers market, had to have it in my SF.
Waiting for act 2 to hit… Already have over 4000 of each fertilizer and corn to update Monsarno ASAP. And, craft the new goodies.

  14. One minor adjustment – when the Android’s Dungeon became a Taschen store — they’re a world-famous art-book publisher (ie, in real life) not a kitsch store. They produce some really amazing books, important artists’ monographs, as well as some collectible books that could not be displayed in a Simpson’s episode! 😉

    • Apologies… I just wrote what it looked like to me. Post is fixed with credit to you.

      • No problems — Just wanted to fill in where “Taschen” came from… it would be TOTALLY in keeping with cool-ifying / hispster-izing Springfield, if Taschen were to open a branch as the bookstore in town (vs. say, Barnes & Noble)… Right now, there are only about 4 Taschen stores in the USA — uber-cool places of course, NYC, Miami, Hollywood… 😉

  15. Loving the new banner art guys!
