Springfield Showoff: Down on the Farm

As we sit here frakkin files, pulling pics, and typing a million words a minute to get our readers the latest updates and information…we find ourselves sometimes forgetting to stop and enjoy our own games. More so our neighboreenos. So we try to make it a point to hop in n out of the towns now and then to see what cool things YOU are up to. So we have decided we want to continue to focus more attention (as if we don’t already 😛 ) on YOU…our readers. Time to time we will be peaking into your towns, checking our Flickr, and also the posts in the comments below to see what cool ideas and designs YOU have come up with to make your towns unique and…well…YOU. So here is YOUR chance to show off all your hard work, time, donuts & in game cash spent. Send us your work, no matter how big or small. Brag about it to the world. We want you to. (That and Bunny loves to see other designs and get inspiration from it.) Then keep your eyes posted to Addicts to see if YOU end up on our “SPRINGFIELD SHOWOFF”.

With all the additional farm items that the Terwilliger Event has brought us (Willie’s Tractor, Old Simpson’s Farm House) I thought now would be a great time to show us your farms!  As it can always be a little intimidating, and frustrating, trying to figure out just where to put all this stuff…so who better to turn to than our fellow Addicts?  As usual you guys came through with your submissions in a big way!  You guys have some great designs and ideas for all that stuff, so let’s take a look!

  1. Ive tried a few times… more then 3 to stitch my town together. The problem i think is i am a doodler. And cant stop changinging things. bahhh. But i have an app that does wonderful small stitch work. But anything over 5 pics it always tries to make it a bubble. Like a short panarama only wch end touches something. Grrr. Im gonna try your suggested way Bunny on my old dinasaur computer. Thats if it will . If not could someone help me?

  2. Never thought I’d care about having them, but now I’m regretting that I don’t have any of those pumpkin patches to put in my farm (which I’m still working on developing). Moral of the story: craft at least one or two of anything you can, even if you don’t think you want it, especially if it’s small.

  3. inspired by you guys so here’s mine… http://i.imgur.com/bWZXub6.jpg

  4. So many great ideas, like the rows of different crops and the hay wagon behind the tractor. It inspired me to build a much larger farm area 🙂

  5. Love all the creative designs! There were so many cool ideas, it’s hard to pick a favorite 😉 Nice job everyone!

  6. So jelly. I keep seeing stuff in the really good show offs that are like, “What is that?? I don’t remember that!”. That and I am soooo out of space on my Springfield, I needs more land. D-:

  7. Sandra Shill

Wow – some really nice farms there! I particularly like the ones that have various “crops” planted in sections (like bwtayl, among others) and rows (like williamg, among others). JuliaM’s farm complex has a talky nice feel to it, too.

I’m also impressed by how much came a couple of people have crafted…how did you get enough materials to craft all of those?!?

But one thing confused me… There are either two identical farms for two different neighbors, or one picture was mistakenly listed under two different names. Check out the second picture under bwtayl and the picture under DaGogglesDoNuthn.

I think I’m too stingy with space to do a really good farm, but I’ve definitely gotten some good ideas here. Thanks for sharing, everyone! 🙂

    • Thanks for the compliment, Sandra! Hope I get to see your design if you find space. Also, that’s probably my fault on the confusion. I posted these in the original thread and on Flickr. So it looks like my B town showed up twice. Not that I’d ever complain about that! Anyway, kudos to Alissa for keeping any of this stuff straight and for giving us a chance to show off our towns. I’ll just post in one place next time 😉

    • Thanks so much! I’m so happy people like my town!

I have been so busy at work I didn’t know I got picked for a show off till today! And thanks tsto writers for all your work!

  8. These are great! Makes my Springfield look like a pile of puke.

    • Sandra Shill

      Lol – wow, that’s harsh! I’m sure it isn’t *that* bad. 🙂

      • I believe they were borrowing from a line Moe says…”Awww, ain’t that cute? Makes Little Debbie look like a pile of puke.” But without knowing what their town looks like I can’t say for certain. Might be ” a little from column A, a little from column B.” 😄

    • Excellent “The Old Man and the Lisa” episode reference! Good ol’ Moe and his way with words.

  9. Nice designs! Thanks to all who shared.

  10. Lots of awesome farms!
I missed the deadline, but here’s my farms:

  11. I love how everyone is different. So many creative people. I put mine in the comments on the reminder Facebook post about it. I wasn’t sure how to share it. Next time I will read the directions mire carefully. Thanks!

    • I thought I grabbed everything from Facebook, I’m sorry I must have missed it! Grab the URL from facebook (right click, copy image URL) and post it in the comments here so everyone can enjoy 🙂

  12. Gosh darn it, Tapebelt. why is your town so cool!!!😅😅 everyone’s so creative 👌🏻😀 good job!

    • AnothrAddict

Agreed, everyone was super creative. Totally diggin tapebelt’s town. The 3d aspect was incredible.
Again really imaginative work, great job on the towns, everyone. Thanks for all the brilliant ideas to use in my town. 😉

    • Tapebelt’s Valley Farm is really cool – but can we all just take a moment to appreciate that tapebelt made an airport out of El Chemistri, complete with long-term parking, a toll booth, a runway, and an airport hangar?? That is amazing!

      • AnothrAddict

I think that was one of my most favorite areas. Super creative!

      • Well said! I definitely appreciate the airport, too. I remember reading in a separate post that Tapebelt wasn’t so sure about having an airport there, but I think we can all agree it was absolutely the right decision. It takes a high level of imagination to realize that the El Chemistri restaurant nicely doubles as a terminal. Most addicts probably wouldn’t see that, myself included. But it illustrates my favorite thing about this game: the fun of incorporating buildings and decorations in designs that don’t necessarily fit their intended purpose. Makes town design possibilities seem limitless.
Anyway, I hope Tape can stand all of these well-deserved accolades! 🙂

  13. Mine wasn’t there? I posted it on Flickr when I posted the last showcase. I didn’t think I would have had to do it again? Its ok no big deal

    • There are so many submissions that you’ve got to resubmit it if you posted it when it wasn’t the theme for that week. I can only go back so far.

  14. Well done everyone some truly creative talents out there! Nice to see how the cane fields could be worked into the farms and all hail to the two farmers markets lol! I need to take a fresh look at my own now so thank you all for the great ideas : )

    • *waves hello* …just letting you all know I changed my name from London UK to Brooders now as requested by a sooper dooper neighboureeno : )

…was hoping it would automatically change my name on all my old posts too?

Anyhoo while here *throws some jelly blobs around*
