Addicts Weekly Open Thread

Hey Howdy Hey Tappers!

Due to POPULAR request….we’ve moving up our open thread time so that our friends outside of the US can participate too!  Let’s get the conversation going!  Oh and remember…just because this is posted here today doesn’t mean you can’t comment on it all week long.  This open thread will still be open for comments long after today is over!

Now…enough rambling from me….it IS Sunday and you know what that means, right?  Time for another Open Thread!

Here’s where you can talk about anything you want to talk about…TSTO Related, Simpson’s Related or ANYTHING.  Just no Add me requests…those should go here.  We’ll give you a few suggestions (like most Sunday’s you can talk about the current episode of the Simpsons) but for the most part you’re free to talk about ANYTHING your little Tapping Fingers desire…just keep it PG.

So…here is your Open Thread.  The Simpsons are all new tonight, what will happen in the new episode?  Act 2 of  The Terwilliger Event hit our devices earlier this week, how are you doing so far with Act 2?  Sunday Night Baseball tonight features the Yankees at Redsox, will you be watching?  NBA and NHL playoffs are both in full swing, how’s your team doing?  The NFL Draft was this past week, did your team pick up anyone good?  Do anything fun this weekend?

So chat about the Simpsons, TSTO, Update fun, or anything else you can think of!  Can’t wait to chat with you all, you know we love hearing from you!

Have Fun!  And happy Sunday!

  1. Sorry Amongst the Draugr, I accidentally tagged your capitol building yesterday. 😢

  2. Has anyone with the “demoted” event tasks (the ones that aren’t yellow and at the top anymore) tried the whole uninstall/reinstall thing? I’m currently having an email exchange with EA support about this issue (mostly just to add to “complaints” in hopes that they’ll patch this bug and also to see if I can score some free “placating” donuts) and they’ve given me the standard reply about doing all of that. I don’t really feel like going through that routine if others have and it didn’t work, so, if I know for sure that that doesn’t fix the problem, I can reply that I’ve tried it and it didn’t work and hope that that moves the conversation further towards the “free donuts” point.

I’ve had more tasks get demoted now and it really is a pain, so I figure it’s not unreasonable to try and get some compensation for it!

    • Mine was fixed as of today. Was yours?

      • Nope – it’s gotten worse…more demoted tasks.

Are you sure yours is fixed? I thought mine was at one point, but it turned out it was only because that task was the current red box task. Once the red box moved on to a different task, the originally demoted task was back to being demoted.

      • No fix from this end either, most frustratementship…
And more get demoted, I noticed as soon I leveled Monsarno up to 16 I lost more, mostly 2 hour tasks.
Give ’em heaps from me too Sandra, hope you get your sprinkles!

  3. Wow! Hehehe… for those whom reminisce about the Super Hero event, just found a “flashback” glitch.
I selected and stored Radioactive man to cancel a thumbled task, and up popped Fallout Boy’s dialogue complete with comic book surrounds, thinking RM had died!

    • Just posted another really cool “glitch” to the TSTO email about the Comic event, how to “briefly” clear your Radioactive Man construction site of RM!

  4. Hey all — just a reminder to my neighbors that right now, you are probably better off sending seeds to your OTHER neighbors as I’m not in the game as much as usual due to real life busy-ness, and you will likely miss out on your payback because I’m probably missing the 4-hour window a lot.

    :burrito:

    • Hey Etamni, just wanted to quickly say I love what you have done with your unpurchased blocks of land. Took me a couple of seconds to work out what was going on 😉

  5. Had a good donuts day today – 8 sprinklies added to my count with no real money spent! Got 3 bonuts for XP maxing, another 3 for mask maxing (say that three times fast!), and 2 for visiting neighbors. 😀

  6. Thanks Queen Alissa! I flew any boy are my arms tired lol!
Thanks for all your hard work and answering so fast.

  7. I traveled all way across country yesterday (very tired today). Missed tappin on my friends 🙁 as couldn’t get my iPad to work on plane DRATS, Question iI have is, will my game reset to Caifornia time or stay in Florida time zone? Looks like it’s still on East coast.
    Thanks for your help!
    I’m so behind now grrrrrrrr

  8. General Election Day in the UK and I’m one of the people who will probably stay up watching the results come in overnight. In between playing TSTO of course.
Did my voting earlier then came back to see my parents for a couple of days. The UKIP candidate for my home town is my dad’s old boss, so I’ve known him since I was a teenager. Will be highly amusing if he wins even though I don’t agree with his party’s policies myself.

  9. So, this whole task list disappearing randomly as I send my characters off to do their daily chores was really getting to me. The glitch still existing is bothersome still, but it doesn’t affect me anymore as I’ve changed my routine.
See, since I started playing, I would open the game, clear all rewards from buildings, and end any ready character tasks. I would putz around for a minute or two, looking to see if anything was going on, then I would send my characters on new tasks.
I have 35 brown houses (5 minutes til rewards), Simpsons House (1 minute) and an assortment of Kwik-E-Marts(3 minutes).. After initially clearing them, I would be sending my characters off to do things as they mature again…
I found that as these buildings matured their rewards, my task list on a character would close.. If i open it again, a building matures, and it closes again…. Took me two weeks to put 2 and 23 together…
So now, I tap every building and finished character upon entering town, starting with my brown houses, and I wait until my brown houses are ready to be tapped again.. At this point, I usually have no issues sending my 45,000-/+ characters onto their next mission, so long as some other building in town doesn’t suddenly decide that it’s time to give me money!!!

It may not solve the problem, but it works for me as a workaround until they do fix it.

  10. One of those great TSTO moments: I release a little cluster from Monsarno and out troops Jessica Lovejoy, Greta Wolfcastle, Janey, Sherri & Terri and Michael D’Amici. My first thought is “Omg, Mean Girls brigade- Must Screenshot!” Alas, couldn’t get it before they dispersed. Next thought is, maybe I can catch them all again if I time it just right. *realizes next time they’re all done eating candy corn is the exact time I arrive at work. D’oh!

    • Types D’Amico. Gets changed to D’Amici. Catches it in proofreading, changes back to D’Amico and posts comment, sees D’Amici in waiting for moderation. *clenches teeth and shakes fist Really Auto-Correct, again? Smither’s voice: I Hate You! I Hate You! I Hate You!

  11. For those who are concerned about lack of space for your towns:

Maybe EA is trying to encourage players to rotate which items they have on display at any given time. So, rather than, say, displaying items from every event all the time (especially the holiday-themed ones) you have a few “event” and/ or holiday areas and swap stiff in and out of there throughout the year.

    • Agreed, some of my house farming neighbors still have their Xmas lights up! Just like my home, it wouldn’t be special if I kept all my holiday decorations out year round (not to mention confusing and grossly cluttered) I only have the Present Depot (FYI- it tucks away nicely behind the Superhero HQ) and the Holiday tree (camouflaged in Sir-Putt-Alot) out for their cash earnings. I’m glad I wasn’t around for the COC event, those castles are huge space hogs in my Neighbor’s towns. (I do, however, wish I had the hay wagons and a couple other items for my farmhouses) That being said, that’s just me (You down with OCD? Yeah, you know me! *Hums do to do doo doo) a few of my favorite town designs are neighbors who have mashed things up in the craziest, most creative ways. Total Organized Chaos and I love it, please keep on surprising me!

      • I’m gonna weigh in, an’ prolly cop some flack for this, but I’ve never had a challenge with more land space beyond what’s currently offered… I’ve purchased around 3/4 of land available.
I am Freemium, so to be fair do not have all the Premium content, but proudly display all my event areas, and have even (just comparing with my neighbourinos) dispersed quite a map of roads, and dominate my landscape with my fascination of fence design 😉
I house farm, but only for my neighbourinos, and have maintained 5 stars despite level updates.
TSTO addicts I must say has been invaluable in forward planning and shuffling, and once I know whats coming, every time I tap I’m also civic planning.
I was a Sim City fan, for me (my friends whom know the game and see my “city”) I kinda decide out of the three, Residential / Commercial / Industrial before placing stuff, and event content is placed where it fits (recently, with l52, I thought that Rat Trap Truck was the perfect delivery vehicle for the Slaughterhouse :)…

  12. Anyone else having trouble playing catch up? We are having back to back to back to back events (not that I’m complaining) and I’m like 10+ levels behind in my quests because everyone that is needed to do 8-24 hour quests I’m sending them for fertilizer, corn or DNA. Feel like I’ll be way into 152 before I even hit the 145 quests at this rate.

    • Also, I just found out, once you unlock the opera house, it gets used for Cecil’s daily tasks. I just had to send a kid there to reserve seats for 4 hours. Although not sure why it takes that long to reserve seats, must be a long wait time on the phone 😀

    • The quests will still be there once the event is over, an advantage to being a few levels behind is the freemium character/bldg combo’s don’t cost near as much. Relax and Enjoy the ride!

  13. *Using The Rock’s voice* FINALLY! Farmer’s Market is being crafted in Springfield.

  14. TheWackyWombat

Finally got enough DNA to build the Gas and Grub last night and I noticed I’m up to 20k Fertilizer. It really builds up fast when you don’t need it for anything.

Hopefully we’ll see something new to spend it on for part 3, if not I’ll have a ton to use in crafting at the end of the event.

    • I will tell you…if a character can get corn and fertilizer (or DNA and Fertilizer)…stop going for the fertilizer. In Act 3 it doesn’t look like Fertilizer will be used for any of the crafting items.

      • TheWackyWombat

That wouldn’t surprise me that much. I’m already sending everyone possible on the corn and DNA assignments, there are a few that only have fertilizer, but for the most part it’s just been through tapping and carry over from part 1.

Oh well, it’s just more T1 rewards to craft later I guess.

      • Okay… Well, I’m still sending everyone I can on fertiliser tasks… I’ve built the Farmer’s Market yesterday (yay!), but still need a lot of it for the Smokehouse and for Cane Fields… Hope I won’t be behind on corn and DNA once Act 3 starts, I’m still far from being able to craft the Gas n Grub…

  15. Hi, during Act 1 I reported that I benefitted from a ‘glitch’ which gave me 2 goes at getting bonus donuts.
Well, it’s just happened again in Act 2.

The thing that both times had in common was that I hit EXACTLY 3000, all of my other bonus tries I didn’t. 2 times out of about 10 is not a very big data sample but it’s beginning to look less like a coincidental glitch and more like a feature.

I’d be interested to see if others notice anything supporting or contradicting my new theory. In the meantime I’ll be trying extra hard to hit the target exactly. (Neighbour visits will be very handy if you just need 1 or 2).
I’m beginning to slightly regret (but not really) upgrading my pesticide squirter as much as I did – there’s zero control over how many Bob clones I can squish.

    • Actually, I just remembered there was one time I hit it exactly and didn’t get the double go, but that was by hitting the 3000 in my town. The twice I got the double go was from getting the 3000th on a neighbour visit.
I shall try to investigate further…

      • OK, I just hit the 3000th in a neighbour’s town and only got one go. Either it’s just a random glitch or it’s triggered by something else. I’m out of ideas for the moment.

  16. Not sure if I’m alone in this, but anyone else that has earned Bob as a character, do you find yourself when he’s not on a job, tapping him thinking he’s a Sideshow Cob, or the npc Bob like he once was?

  17. Craig (ibuylow2014)

What a great day! Celebrating Cinco de Mayo, my 57 birthday and my second anniversary of retirement. I want to thank all my neighboreenos that have stopped by to visit my Springfield. My Squirter is fully upgraded (15) and only two more upgrades to go on Monsarno. Then I will start crafting again.

    • HAPPY LOTS OF STUFFS DAY!!! 😛

    • Congrats Craig! And also big thanks for visiting my lil neck of the woods 🙂 Sounds like a great day for all!
Today in Springfield I received the channel 10 news van from the Mystery Box prize (I’m pretty sure this means extra tasks… speaking of which, how is the content task list going Alissa / Bunny / Wookie?) and have Monsarno reach level 12, and now have the library building.
Today in CUBE world (read : that real life thing 😉 my new business (just passed the 12 month milestone…) just signed a major contract with a local and international training institute, finally after working so hard to achieve. Also, we are in the final phase in a separate project for an audio engineer, a prototype design that, all fingers / toes crossed, goes to manufacture on Thursday.
Craig, and all, it feels kinda good being able to share and support achievements, not real used to it myself but the TSTO addicts team and friends are a pretty cool and friendly bunch, and it feels I’ve made a few, be it long distance, mates here 😉

      • Congrats on the good news from CUBE world, Matt! Sounds like things are really coming together for you. 🙂 At this point, I’m hoping to stay in my current job at the company I’ve been at for 23 years, but yesterday I was thinking about domain names that I should probably register, in case something happens and I have to go out on my own. (Not really that interested in being an “entrepreneur,” but I might have to go that route at some point, if things go bad…)

As for the News Van, yes, I bought it a while ago specifically to have the extra, 12-hour(?) task for my TV station. 🙂

      • Craig (ibuylow2014)

That is awesome Cube. Here’s to wishing this contract leads to more.

      • Thanks for the support guys!

  18. Had a terrible Sunday, ended up in the ER! Hope everyone had an awesome weekend. Im finally started hoarding corn,DNA and fertlizer to craft hopefully the three things i want by the end of this week.
